Id like to create a transparent background for pygame_gui.elements.UILabel so the content can be displayed over an image without a coloured background.
Im using a json theme which is best practice for pygame_gui, the key word being "dark_bg" to enter a hexadecimal value. Ive tried "None" and " " both dont produce the desired results and there doesnt appear to be another key word that allows for transparency.
Any ideas?
Regards.
In pygame_gui, if you want a fully transparent thing, you enter the color as "#00000000"
Each two digits represent R, G, B, and A (alpha, transparency) successively.

Is it possible to add stripes in the textbox in report?
So the result looks like in the picture?
User chooses color for the column in the application
color
This is no built in way of doing this (no fill style) but you could use an image of the stripes as a background image. You would need to create and save images for each colour and style and add them as embedded images in the report.
You can then set the background image of a textbox to the required image.
... or better still use an expression to select the image based on conditions.
=SWITCH(
Fields!ItemCode.Value >10 , "RedStripe",
Fields!ItemCode.Value >50 , "GreenStripe",
True, Nothing
)
Where Redstripe and GreenStripe are the image names you embedded.
You can set the image to repeat etc from the properties panel
Update after OP stated that colour is parameterised.
If the colour is a parameter then we need a slightly different approach.
First you need to create an image with stripes (any colour will do ), and then remove the stripe pixels so that the stipes are now transparent. Save this as a PNG.
I created one quickly whist testing which you can save from here hopefully. You'll just have to move the mouse around in the area below as it's a white on white image! Or switch StackOverflow to the dark theme, then you can right-click and save the image. If not you'll just have to create one yourself.
Image below here.. switch StackOverflow to Dark theme to see it
Image above here..
Now you will need to set the background image to this image but also set the backgroundcolor property to an expression. In this exmaple, I set the background to the value of my parameter.
My parameter is just text and I typed in some hex values in the form #FFFFFF. You will have to work out how to get the value from your color pickers to the report yourself, ask a new question if required.
Here's the report design
and here is the report running using a few sample hex values.
I have created a Directional indicator (Green up arrow and Red down arrow) in my SSRS report, referring to the value of the column next to it. This all works ok:
However, I really want the indicator and the value to be in the same cell, like Excel can:
A Google found the following article , where the last post suggest it is possible using the following syntax:
=Format(Fields!Column1.Value, "Format") + " " + "Indicator"
I assume "Indicator" refers to the name I gave to my Direction indicator, but I can't get it to work..
I have read that by using border formatting I can get my two cells to look like one, but I would ideally like it all to be in one.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Mark
I would do this by placing a Rectangle inside of the cell and place your indicator along with another text box inside the rectangle. The downside to this is (depending on how you align the items in the rectangle) the formatting may cause split cells in excel exports.
Ross's method will work and there are alternatives..
The article you referenced was a text indicator not an image (from what I could tell).
You could do something similar by simply adding a a placeholder in the cell (right-click inside the cell and click "create placeholder"). You can then set the font and colour independently from the rest of the cell.
You could use a common font such as wingdings to get arrows and then the value and color properties would be expressions to show the correct 'character' (arrow) and the correct colour.
Is there a simple css way to display text with every letter replaced with a filled square?
My idea was to find a font-family that has squares for all letters, but I didn't find anything like that existing. Google is no friend as it gives hits of posted issues with boxes that appear when fonts fail in some way.
Letters should be displayed as squares, not replaced with squares. Also, I need to be able to control the square fill color with the usual html/css.
I'm fine to use font-face, but am trying to avoid the learning curve for creating my own font.
Update: here is an example:
div.innerHTML = "some arbitrary text".
Should be displayed like this:
"■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■".
#NoobEditor is right although. Many online font editors available (e.g.: http://fontark.net/farkwp/ ), you can create such font family in few minutes and can embed with your app.
Get a square font, define it in your we page style, asign it to an object, a div must work, put your text there. Voila.
I want to use a variety of location markers in a map, of different colors. I like google's "teardrop"-shaped ones so that the location itself is less obscured, due to the point top of the inverted teardrop.
This is a link to the green one:
http://www.googlemapsmarkers.com/v1/009900/
...and the green uses 0099FF
But what about the other colors? Is there a list somewhere or do I have to write a utility to convert color to RGB, or what?
Even with that, how would I know which colors are supported/supplied? Or are the colors dynamically generated based on the RGB value you pass?
UPDATE
Based on the chart here:
http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm
...I would expect that entering this:
http://www.googlemapsmarkers.com/v1/65535/
...would return a bright yellow marker, but instead I get:
"400. That’s an error.
Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request.
The parameter 'chs' must have a width of at least 1 pixel.
That’s all we know."
UPDATE 2
I also found that you can put text on the marker by inserting the text in the penultimate spot.
This returns a blank yellow inverted teardrop:
http://www.googlemapsmarkers.com/v1/FFFF00/
..and this:
http://www.googlemapsmarkers.com/v1/Platypus/FFFF00/
...returns an inverted yellow teardrop with the word "Platypus" plastered on top of it.
You can pass your own RGB color. I suppose the markers are dynamically generated when the server receive your request, but anyway, you can create the color you exactly want.
I´d like to know, how, through actionscript 3, to get an array of ARGB (hexadecimal) colors, that is close to a given color.
Example:
0xFF00FF00
A green.
How to get variations of green?
I´m trying to get some green colors of a bitmapdata.
I´ve tried to get it by making a loop getting the colors using getPixels32.
The problem is, I think the bits colors of each position are different from the bits of the bitmap rendered.
It´s for a pathfinder.
Each green bit sets a node in a map, as walkable.
So I need to know what are these colors to set it as walkable for the pathfinder.
Any suggestions?
RGB space is terrible for interpreting whether colors are similar to one another. A different color space that matches closer to human perception of color is HSV (hue saturation and value). Here are the steps you should follow:
Convert your value from RGB space to HSV (http://www.cs.rit.edu/~ncs/color/t_convert.html)
Modify the saturation and value to obtain different shades of the same green hue.
You can even modify the hue a little with a defined tolerance level you specify
Reconvert back to HSV to RGB
I believe technically..one color space is smaller than the other, meaning it is not always a 1:1 conversion - but it should serve your purpose.
