I have a *.patch file with some changes and I need to apply it to working directory without commit. So, is it possible with TortoiseHg? Or, if not, is there any option to rollback commit into working directory?

Ok, I found solution.
Repository / Import / Preview (Combo Box)
Here you can choose Working Directory option.

Another option would be the Shelve Tool, where you can freely move chunks, and entire files between different patches and the working directory.
The button is just above the commit message box:
And it gives you a nice interface to freely move bits and pieces around.

Mercurial: How do I fix an incorrectly published rename/copy?

I've somehow marked a bunch of files as being "copy/renamed" instead of just marking them as new files.
I've also published these changes to our central repository and can cannot strip them out (we've already got some changes on top and I don't have the permissions/ability to fiddle with the central repository anyway).
Context:
I've actually done it to a whole bunch of files, but here's an example of what I did to one: I've copied a file called "Labels.properties", to a new file called "Labels_ja.properties" (the new file contains a subset of the original properties, and eventually all the values will be translated to a different language). The "Labels_ja.properties" file has been marked as a copy/rename of "Labels.properties" (the only way I've been able to see exactly what's happened is by looking with SourceTree, which shows "File copied/renamed from Labels.properties").
Our environment is a sort of central repository with automated "pull request" style merging tools built on top, so solutions involving all our developers magically knowing exactly how to drive Hg in order to resolve these conflicts aren't going to work - it's the scripts that are getting the merge conflicts.
These copy/renames are causing a lot of hassles: when people touch the original versions of the property files (they don't even know about the copied files yet) - it looks like Hg is trying to merge those changes onto the copies, but because the files are very different, those merges are failing with conflicts.
Problem:
What can I do to sort out all these merge conflicts that our automated merge scripts are getting?
Ideally, I'd like to go back in time and just mark all these files "new" - but there's no going back now that the changesets have been published.
Can I just make a big backout commit, then re-add the files (making sure that they are marked "new" and not "copy/renamed")?
I cannot think of a good solution. Even if you delete the files, Mercurial will still complain repeatedly when they get changed and merged. The simplest solution I can think of is moving the bad files into some "attic" directory where they don't hurt anyone and never touching them again. Then add the real files where they belong.
If I understand correctly, the problem is in fact that the developers are still based on a revision that does not have your move.
When they change the original file, an 'hg merge' will then smash together the changes from the developer and the changes to the new file in that new file.
I see a few solutions for this:
You can tell the developers to rebase their changes on top of the new changes. This will actually not work, since rebase will make the same mistake as merge.
The developers can turn their changes into patches and apply their patches on top of your changes. Their patches will refer to the original files, not the changed files, so this should work fine for the tools that merge later on.
The above flow can be done in a more sophisticated way using Mercurial Queues: import the existing developer commits as patches, then qpop all of these, update to your newer revision and qpush all of the revisions again.
Mark the head with your changes as 'closed' using '--close-branch'. However, if your tools are not equipped to handle this correctly (by ignoring the closed branch), this may cause issues. Branches are reopened when a new commit is done on top of the branch. So if you merge developer changes with the closed branch, it will open again.

How can I copy the change list to a text file using Mercurial?

Is there any way I can copy the current change list to a text file in every commit?
I am using Mercurial HG, and an ASP.NET MVC and SQL-based web project. If this is possible, then I can always check the current change list by just checking the text file.
Any thoughts on this? Any other idea to achieve this?
It's a bit hard to get your question but I believe patches are what you're searching for.
You can create a patch in every source versioning software (hg/git/svn/etc.).
If you want to do that automatically on each commit, do a hook (this is also supported by all the source versioning softwares).
If you just want to check the changes, simply try the diff command (e.g., hg diff) that dumps the diff of the current changeset to the console. You can redirect it to a file too. There are some nice GUI tools for that (e.g., git gui for git).

How to merge in mercurial by TortoiseHG?

I have two machines, window 7 with TortoiseHG 2.6 and Linux with TortoiseHG 1.5. I use bitbucket as a website to hold my centralized repository. The window machine associates with bitbucket user account, Cassie-win and the linux machine associates with bitbucket user account, Cassie-linux. Here are the steps I have performed.
created a empty centralized repository at butbucket Cassie-linux account
create two files locally, file1.txt and file2.txt on linux machines and push them to the Cassie-linux account.
Add user Cassie-win to the repository
Clone the repository to the window machine, make changes on file2.txt there and push it back to the centralized repository.
Meanwhile, also make some changes on the file2.txt which is on the linux machine and commit locally
Then I pull changes from the centralized repository at Cassie-linux account to my local linux machine. Now my linux local repository has two heads because of different contents in file2.txt and I would like to merge them together.
I used the "merge with" tool of TortoiseHG on my linux machine to merge these two heads. However, it kept failing to do so. I tried like a hundreds times and didn't know where I got it wrong. Both file1 and file2 are test files that have only three lines. I also used a command "hg resolve file2.txt" to check the error. However, it only showed that mergeing fails and didn't shown much information. Does anyone know how to use TortoiseHG merge tool to merge two heads ? And what could be the problem to stop TortoiseHG merging two heads ?

I right clicked the "from Cassie-win account" and it has "merge with" option. Then, I clicked the "merge" option with "merge" tool but it failed with error messages as below.

By "merge with" in TortoiseHg, do you mean you tried "Merge with Local" from the context menu of one head after updating your working directory to the other head? If so, you should have seen a wizard taking you through the steps of a merge. TortoiseHg will expect you to intervene if it cannot automatically merge the two heads. Once it asks you to do that, you have a few options including "Mercurial Resolve" and "Tool Resolve."
If you could post more details about the errors you see when the merge "fails," we might be able to be more helpful.
First things first: A merge just creates a new file version. You must commit it before it can be seen or pushed to your other repo clones.
Now, if you're doing a merge and the same line, or adjacent lines, have been modified in both merge parents, the automatic merge won't succeed and you'll be asked to choose what to do at each conflict point. Kdiff3, the tool that TortoiseHG uses for merging the files on Windows is not terribly intuitive, so here's an overview:
If there are multiple files to merge, you'll see a directory control. Navigate to one of the files and open it so you see two file versions side by side.
Depending on the circumstances, you may now have to activate "Merge this file" (in the Merge menu and on the toolbar), which will show you a third version of the file (the merge result) below the other two.
You can now navigate from change to change, and click on the A and B buttons to select which change to use. Note that the buttons are toggles, and it is possible to activate both together (to import both versions to the merge). Note also that you'll also see diffs that could be automatically merged. In general you can leave them alone (there are navigation buttons that go directly to the next unresolved diff).
Once you've figured out how to work all this and chosen a version for each diff, you'll be able to save and go on to the next file. When you're done, your merge is ready to commit.

So you need to do this on the Linux side, and you've got no Kdiff3. Ok, then do it the old-fashioned way: Using the commandline and a regular editor.
When a merge fails, the conflicted file turns into a context diff that includes both revisions. Open it with your favorite editor, look at it carefully and clean up each context-diff region (you'll know them when you see them) until you have a clean, usable file just as you want it to be.
Exit, drop to the command line and type hg resolve -m file2.txt. This removes the file from the list of conflicts.
When you've done this with all conflicted files (you can list them with hg resolve -l) you'll be allowed to commit, and your troubles are over.
PS. If you don't like the merge tools you've got, consider installing kdiff3 (it's available for linux, but no idea how well it works), or p4merge as #LazyBadger suggests.
Side notes
You can exchange data between your hosts without "Bitbucket-in-the-middle": just hg serve on both hosts and hg pull <PARTY> on opposite side
You could use single BB-account from both our hosts (less management on BB-side) and differentiate source of every changeset in Bitbucket interface only by usernames in changesets
To the question of merges
When (in any SCM) you try to merge two diverged lines of coding, there are two possible cases
Independent changes are not overlapped and can be combined into common descendant without user's intervention. If this case merge "just happens"
Changes are intersected and some strings are in conflicted state: i.e we have two different changes for some old data. It this case user's choice is needed and SCM or store merge-result with conflicted parts marked (and note merge as unsucceful and unfinished before appropriate user-action) or run user-defined merge-resolver (read "Visual Merge Tools")
In your situation, obviously, he have second case: some strings from 3 in merge-sources was in conflict and you haven't configured in TortoiseHG Diff/Merge tools (TortoiseHG - Global Setting - TortoiseHG)
Have and add these tools will be best choice for future. Now you have by hand edit file-in-conflict and select correct data in conflicted lines, mark conflict as resolved (check TortoiseHG context menu of file), remove temp-files and, at last, commit merge

Automatic shelve before pulling in Mercurial (with TortoiseHG)?

I have some changed files I don't want to commit (e.g. web.config). Before I pull and update to new changesets, I have to shelve them. After the pull & update, I have to unshelve them.
I'm currently using TortoiseHG. Is there any extension which can do this automatically?
I'd suggest something else: instead of always shelving and unshelving, you could use two different config files: one which is part of the repository and contains dummy/example data, and another one which each user really uses locally, which is ignored by Mercurial.

The example I'm giving there is for Visual Studio, and I see from your other questions and answers that you're apparently using .net and Visual Studio, so you can just use my example exactly as written.
In Mercurial, just hg pull -u. Uncommitted changes are merged with the tip. Same result as shelve, pull/update, unshelve. With TortoiseHg a dialog will come up prompting for discard/shelve/merge.
You may get a merge dialog this way but that would be true with the shelving approach because unshelve may have to merge as well. From the command line you won't get a prompt if there are no conflicts. TortoiseHg may have an option to suppress the dialog if there are no conflicts, but I haven't checked.
I would try a few different things with this.
Regarding the Web.config file in particular, you might want to look at using local configuration files for overrides instead of leaving local changes uncommitted. (e.g. referencing an separate file that is in .hgignore). Projects I've worked on in the past did this to separate test/prod configurations from the settings for development, or vice-versa.
I don't think there is any extension which will do this for you, but you might be better off writing a quick batch or powershell script to do this workflow for you. On previous projects, I had a script which would do something similar in that it would do a pull/update/rebase to keep my changes at the tip (I was working with hg against an SVN server which made that important.)

Mercurial: Editor doesn't show the conflict file after a conflicted merge

After having solved the problem of getting the editor to launch when there's a merge conflict - Mercurial: No editor appears when merge conflicts are detected
I now have another problem, the editor now launches but opens the files in the following order:
hello.c
hello.c~base.????
hello.c~other.????
But what I really want to see is the file that highlights the conflicts, which I expect should be the first one hello.c, but instead hello.c just shows the tip.
Any advice?

I'm not sure what tool you're using for merges, but it sounds like it's doing a 3-way merge. The left pane is normally the common ancestor, the middle pane is the file you're merging in, and the right pane is your changes to the file.
I really like kdiff3 (free and open source) for merges and would recommend it if the tool that you're using isn't working for you. It's in the mercurial documentation as the example merger that they use in many places.
The first file ends up being the finished merge, so you need to make sure you manually copy in all changes from the other two files. Vimdiff works well for this as it highlights all differences between the three files. I'm not exactly sure how the three files are generated, but this process does seem to work for me.
