I'd like my wiki to have an editable database of links to videos from Youtube and other sites, along with properties about the videos, such as the language. Then on a page, say, "Chinese Videos", it would pull all the links that have the property "Chinese" and nicely display them.
The best solution I can think of so far is creating a CSV page that contains all the data, then using the ExternalData extension to grab items from it to display. But editing a CSV is not very user friendly and it'd be hard to search/sort through it to see if a link has already been included, or to add/remove properties.
Is there a better option for an onwiki database suitable for this use case? Maybe wikibase, although the documentation talks about its purpose being one wikibase item per page.
I've searched for a suitable Mediawiki database extension, but I haven't found one yet.

Does anyone know if I can integrate GrapeJS into my own website so clients could build their own websites using it? IF anyone has done this, how easy is it and are there downsides?
This question is pretty open ended, but I'll take a shot at it.
The short answer is yes, you can use Grapesjs to allow clients to make their own sites; however, the details matter.
Grapesjs by default doesn't know anything about your stack, website structure, metadata, etc. You will need to either supply plugins or implement those features yourself. I've worked on a project for a company that used Grapesjs to implement single page apps and I'll include just some of the tweaks we had to manage.
Hiding certain layers that only confuse average users.
Hiding pretty much all of the styling, and using traits to allow people to pick from some predefined styles.
Take the html, css on store and generate the final html page, and store it in our static serving folder on the server.
Implement a wrapping "App" component that has traits for the different metadata we want users to control (open graph metadata, title, etc)
and those are just the big things, I'm sure I am forgetting several small ones.
For your application, you'll also need to implement a custom trait for links / buttons that allows you to link from one "page" to another. As well as, a way to allow a user to pick which page to work on.

I need to embed both pdf-files and images in my html-page, however, due to the fact that my html contains a form and the user has to be able to decide whether he would like to upload a pdf-file or an image, I need a flexible solution regarding how to embed either a pdf-file or an image with the same code.
I read that I could possibly use the <object/> tag, however, I also read that that's not a very "elegant" and possibly slow solution.
I also considered to use <embed/> which, as of right now, is the best solution I could come up with. Unfortunately I couldn't find out about if it's a very conventional solution or not.
I can't seem to find very much resources regarding this topic online, hence why I'm asking here. Are there any other/better ways to embed a pdf- or image-file in an html page?

What are you using for the form (query language & database management)?

I would recommend using embed or iframes. You are correct in thinking that the object tag is not an elegant solution, since you are dealing with images.

Easy to do with iframes. There's a lot of hate when it comes to iframes. As you seem to plan on using it as a tool to display a file within a page, then I believe using an iframe here is just fine.

By "dynamic links", I mean a list of links that will constantly be updated.
To illustrate my question, I have a website that I am constantly writing new articles for. I currently have about 10 articles. If someone is to read article #5, there is a list of links to all 10 articles in the right panel of the page. As I update the site, and article #1 becomes out of date, I'd like to replace article #1 with article #11. Rather than updating the links within every article (so 10 times), is there a way to update the links once and have them all update simultaneously to every page?? Could I create an iframe for this??

What's your goal? Do you want to learn to be a web developer? Or are you mostly concerned with getting your articles published?
If you want to be a web developer, I'd recommend steering clear of large CMS system like Wordpress or Drupal. Those are great products. But you want to learn the basics first. I think starting a PHP tutorial is the way to go.
If you just want to publish your articles, I'd recommend you find a nice place to create a blog. There are so many to choose from. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
Feel free to ask follow up questions. Web development sounds simple. But it's really a complex topic. I can't imagine what is must be like starting out these days with so many choices and competing technologies.
One way to do it would be to use Server-side includes. (Wikipedia) They work like this:

The difference is file="" finds a file relative to the current page, whereas virtual="" finds it from the domain root. Either way, this method can use any type of regular text file as a source. The actual addition of the content is done by the server (hence the name) so its contents will be parsed as regular HTML and all CSS will apply to it as if the file were part of your page. I don't know about compatibility with different hosts, but if your web server supports it, this is probably the easiest way to go.
There is a website called file2hd.com which can download any type of content from your website including audio, movies, links, applications, objects and style sheets. Of course this doesn't work for high profile websites such as Google, but is there there a type of method I can use to cloak content on my website and prevent this?
E.g. Using a HTML Code, or using .htaccess method?

If you hide something from the software, you also hide it from regular users. Unless you have a password-protected part of your website. But even then, those users with passwords will be able to fetch all loaded content - HTML is transparent. And since you didn't provide what kind of content are you trying to hide, it's hard to give you a more accurate answer.
One thing you can do, but it works just for certain file types, is to server just small portions of a file. For example, you have a video on your page and you're fetching 5-second bits of the video from the server every 5 seconds. That way, in order for someone to download the whole thing, they'd have to get all the bits (by watching the whole thing) and then find a way to join the parts... and it's usually just not worth it. Think of Google Maps... and Google uses this/similar technique on a few other products as well.

I've been looking into ways to make subpages of a parent page appear in a grid like "articles" on the home page of my Google Site — like on a Joomla home page and almost like a standard "Announcements" template, except:
The articles should appear in a configurable order, not chronologically (or alphabetically).
The first two articles should be displayed full-width and the ones beneath in two columns.
All articles will contain one or more images, and at least the first one should be displayed.
The timestamp and author of each subpage/article shouldn't be displayed.
At the moment I don't care if everything except the ordering is hardcoded, but ideally there should be a place to input prefs like the number of articles displayed, image size, snippet length, css styling etc.
My progress so far:
I tried using an iframe with an outside-hosted Javascript (using google.feeds.Feed) that pulls the RSS feed from the "Announcements" template, but I can't configure the order of the articles. One possibility would be to have a number at the beginning of every subpage title and parse it, but it's going to mess up with time and the number would also be visible on the standalone article page. Or could the number be hidden with Javascript?
I tried making a spreadsheet with a row for each article with columns "OrderId", "Title", "Content", "Image" and process and format the data with a Google App Script (using createHTML and createImage), but a) there doesn't seem to be a way to get a spreadsheet image to show up inside the webapp and b) these articles are not "real" pages that can be linked to easily on the menus.
This feature would be super-useful for lots of sites, and to me it just seems odd that it isn't a standard gadget (edit: or template). Ideas, anyone?
I don't know if this is helpful, but I wanted something similar and used the RSS XML announcements feed within a Google Gadget embedded into my sites page

It is badly written, messy and I'm sure someone could do better than me, but it seems to work fairly reliably. The xml seems to have all the necessary data to be able to chop up articles, and I seem to remember it has image urls as well, so can play with them (although not implemented in my gadget).
Apologies if I am missing the point. I agree with your feature request - it would be great not to have to get so low-level to implement stuff like this in sites....
