Apparently, this problem appeared in 2020 and has still not been solved: https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/39339110/phone-number-is-no-longer-a-clickable-link-in-emails-on-gmail-for-ios?hl=en.
I think the technology behind this feature is patented by Apple, that's why it doesn't work for Gmail.

How to assign different apps for mailto handling, depending on the program the link is in?

I use both gmail (through Chrome) and the Outlook desktop app, both on Windows 10.
Right now chrome is set to handle all mailto links, no matter in which program I click a mailto link.
This is not ideal, as any mailto link I click in outlook is opened in gmail. Therefore I would like to set Outlook to handle all mailto links I click in Outlook, and gmail to handle all mailto links I click in Chrome.
When I try to search for solutions, all I find is people describing how to change the mailto handler for Windows, not how to have different handlers depending on which program the click originated from.
If it is not possible using only Windows settings, solutions that involve potential third party software are also welcome.

mail doesnt show embed images properly on some browsers

Here's the thing, I want to send some text and pictures in a email, but decide what image to use AFTER I send the e-mail (Yeah, it sounds pointless and confusing, but it isn't pointless for the use I want to give it, believe me) so this was my idea:
I send the mail in html format using an embed image like this (I'm gonna use a real image I'm trying to send):
<img src="http://rodrigophp.byethost15.com/CAS/1/Tex1.png">
After the mail is sent, I go to a web I programmed, and using some php the desired image gets copied to the "/CAS/1/" directory, and renamed to "Tex1.png".
It all worked just fine about half a year ago, when I opened the recieved mail (after I set what image I wanted, to avoid browser's cache) it all worked perfectly.
But recently I tried it again, and it works If I see the mail recieved in gmail:
Gmail shows properly
But when I open it in outlook website or from my iOS devices, images won't show (and yes, I have the "download images" setting activated in iOS):
Outlook mail and iOS mail don't show the image (Tested on iPhone 5 and iPad 4 both iOS 9.2.1
I have no idea what's going on, it's like outlook web and iOS mail app can't access the URL, but it's clearly accesible for google mail web (but not if I open my gmail account in my mobile phone. The same mail, in the same account, can be seen on browser but can't be seen from Mail app.)
What's going on here? any ideas how to make it work? It worked perfectly for all of them about half a year ago!

The tel URI for Telephone Numbers in mobile mail services (Gmail,Yahoo Mail, Thunderbird etc.)

I have created a web page with a tel scheme link, this links works fine when the web page is opened in the mobile browser.
I want to send this webpage as a mail body like a e-mailer, using emailtheweb.com where it captures the webpage and sends it as the webpage in e-mail body.
When i open the mail in my gmail app on android or ios and click the link created with the tel scheme functionality it wont work. Rather it redirects me to the link in a web browser of mobile example: www.xyz.com/tel:+000000000
Is there a way to achieve this functionality? Where after clicking the link in the gmail app it can call the number?
Thanks in advance. :)

Is there a way to make an email link work on desktop?

I have achieved creating an email link that works on mobile devices using 'href="mailto:example#webki.com"' When you click on the button via mobile device, it prompts you asking how you want the email delivered however when I click on it from google chrome on my lap top it does nothing. Does any one have a solution that would work on desktops as well? Thanks for all the help.
Yes. That work on desktop well. I think on your laptop not configured e-mail client by default. On my laptop when I click on link with "mailto:" opened browser with gmail
Using something like:
send mail
must work both in mobile and desktop.
mailto works both on mobiles and desktops.
Reference
The To attribute is not the only one that you can pre-set using mailto though. You can also have CC, BCC, Subject, Body...something like:
mailto:example#webki.com?cc=thisguy#thatsite.com, thatguy#thissite.com&bcc=someguy#mysite.com&subject=Happy%20New%20Year&body=Howdy

Why are images not showing in IE in html email?

Hi I created an html email and tested it by sending it to different email clients like Gmail, Yahoo Webmail, and Windows Live Hotmail.
For images I used
<img src="http://www.mysite.com/image.png"/>
The image shows up in Gmail and Yahoo Webmail after unblocking it, but in Hotmail, even after the image is unblocked the image still does not show up.
I tested this in Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer. This only occurs in Internet Exlplorer.
Why is this not working in Hotmail in IE?
Thanks
I had a similar problem. Some web pages would not show and clicking on the picture on properties reported the picture as a Blank.Gif. I went into Manage-Add-ons in IE 9 & 10 and went to Tracking Protection and disabled all protection, closed IE and restarted. Problem went away and pictures were visible. Went back into Manage add-ons and into Tracking Protection and re-read all listings and re-enabled one at a time looking for the problem listing. I now use a personal listing based on what I want blocked. Hope this helps someone, I have been trying to find a solution to this for the past 6 months.
if you're in IE9, try this:
click tools
click internet options
click security tab
click trusted Sites green check mark,
click sites on right-hand side,
add to the zone:https://login.live.com
click add
click close
click ok
