DotNet Interop -- is AllocHGlobal my only option - html

I inherited some old Interop code and wanted to update it for the newer guidance, as it uses StringBuilder.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/native-interop/best-practices
I do not have access to the source code to the native method.
[DllImport(NativeLib, CharSet = CharSet.Ansi, ExactSpelling = true)]
static extern int native_func(double input, StringBuilder result);
public string Convert(double input)
{
var res = new StringBuilder();
if (native_func(input, res) == 0)
return res.ToString();
throw ...;
}
I was able to convert things to manually use AllocateHGlobal instead of StringBuilder.
[DllImport(NativeLib, CharSet = CharSet.Ansi, ExactSpelling = true)]
static extern int native_func(double input, IntPtr result);
public string Convert(input val)
{
var res = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(100);
// pretend we are calling Marshal.FreeHGlobal later...
if (native_func(input, res) == 0)
return Marshal.PtrToStringAnsi(res);
throw ...;
}
But that's not the new ref/span/etc hotness.
However, no matter what I seem to try for the result parameter, I either get just the first character, or a System.AccessViolationException.
I've tried MemoryMarshal.GetReference, I've tried pinning, I've tried ref-ing, I've tried out-ing; whenever I'm trying to use a managed buffer, it just doesnt' work.
Are there scenarios where the new interop just doesn't work? Is AllocHGlobal the best I can do?

Can't read Mocked Java.io.Reader

I want to test following code with Mockito:
public static String funcToTest(String query) throws Exception {
String url = Config.getURL(serviceName);
HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
HttpMethod method = new GetMethod(url);
String resultantString= "";
method.setQueryString(URIUtil.encodeQuery(query));
client.executeMethod(method);
if (method.getStatusCode() == HttpStatus.SC_OK) {
Reader reader = new InputStreamReader(method
.getResponseBodyAsStream());
int charValue = 0;
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(1024);
while ((charValue = reader.read()) != -1) {
sb.append((char) charValue);
}
resultantString = sb.toString();
}
method.releaseConnection();
return resultantString;
}
I created the test like following:
#Test
public void testFunc() throws Exception{
HttpMethod method = Mockito.mock(HttpMethod.class);
InputStream inputStream = Mockito.mock(InputStream.class);
Reader reader = Mockito.mock(Reader.class);
when(method.getResponseBodyAsStream()).thenReturn(inputStream);
PowerMockito.whenNew(Reader.class).withArguments(eq(inputStream)).thenReturn(reader);
Mockito.when(reader.read()).thenReturn((int)'1', -1);
String actualResult = cls.funcToTest("");
String expected = "1";
assertEquals(expected, actualResult);
}
But the reader.read() method is not returning 1. Instead it always returns -1. How should I mock Reader so that read() method will return something else other than -1.
Thanks.
First of all , your test code is doing lots of .class mocking to mock function local variables / references. Mocking is for class dependencies and not for function local variables.
As written, you can't test your function funcToTest with mocking alone. You need to rewrite this function if not willing to use real objects for - HttpMethod & Reader.
You need to remove object creation code with new outside this function if you wish to mock calls on those objects and replace code of new with this get method. e.g.
protected HttpMethod getHttpMethod(String Url){
return new GetMethod(url);
}
Also, I don't see you mocking this line for a fake URL - it seems necessary for unit testing.
String url = Config.getURL(serviceName);
After taking object creation code outside your function, you need to create a new class than extends your SUT ( Subject Under Test ) and you override these methods ( getHttpMethod) to provide fake/mocked instances.
You need to write similar method to get Reader instance.
Then you test this new class - extended from your SUT since object creation logic need not to be tested.
Without taking object creation code outside the function, I don't see a way of mocking it by mockito.
Hope it helps !!
It must work, I'm sorry what make you slightly confused )
// annotations is very important, cls I your tested class name, i assume cls is yours

InputStream inputStream = Mockito.mock(InputStream.class);
InputStreamReader reader = Mockito.mock(InputStreamReader.class);
Mockito.when(method.getResponseBodyAsStream()).thenReturn(inputStream);
//forgot about it )
PowerMockito.whenNew(GetMethod.class).withArguments(eq(url)).thenReturn(method);
PowerMockito.whenNew(InputStreamReader.class).withArguments(eq(inputStream)).thenReturn(reader);
Mockito.when(reader.read()).thenReturn((int) '1', -1);
when(method.getStatusCode()).thenReturn(HttpStatus.SC_OK);
String actualResult = cls.funcToTest(url);
String expected = "1";
assertEquals(expected, actualResult);

View SharePoint 2010 list in JSON format

I am preparing to using Timeglider to create a timeline. One requirement is the data has to be in JSON format. One requirement for me is it needs to be client side as I do not have access to the servers or central admin.
When I try to do http://webname/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/listname I get an error for access permissions however when I issue it http://webname/subsite/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/listname I have no problem pulling data.
My situation is the list is on the TLD. I tried to follow this post How to retrieve a json object from a sharepoint list but it relates to SP 2007.
To implement pure JSON support in SharePoint 2007, 2010 and so on have a look at this project, http://camelotjson.codeplex.com/. It requires the commercial product Camelot .NET Connector to be installed on the server.
If you don't like to go commercial you can resort to the sp.js library, here is a small example I wrote, enjoy!
// Object to handle some list magic
var ListMagic = function () {
/* Private variables */
var that = this;
var clientContext = SP.ClientContext.get_current();
var web = clientContext.get_web();
var lists = web.get_lists();
/**
* Method to iterate all lists
*/
that.getLists = function () {
clientContext.load(lists);
clientContext.executeQueryAsync(execute, getFailed);
function execute() {
var listEnumerator = lists.getEnumerator();
while (listEnumerator.moveNext()) {
var l = listEnumerator.get_current();
// TODO! Replace console.log with actual routine
console.log(l.get_title());
}
}
function getFailed() {
// TODO! Implement fail management
console.log('Failed.');
}
};
/**
* Method to iterate all fields of a list
*/
that.getFields = function (listName) {
// Load list by listName, if not stated try to load the current list
var loadedList = typeof listName === 'undefined' ? lists.getById(SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedList()) : that.lists.getByTitle(listName);
var fieldCollection = loadedList.get_fields();
clientContext.load(fieldCollection);
clientContext.executeQueryAsync(execute, getFailed);
function execute() {
var fields = fieldCollection.getEnumerator();
while (fields.moveNext()) {
var oField = fields.get_current();
// TODO! Replace console.log with actual routine
var listInfo = 'Field Title: ' + oField.get_title() + ', Field Name: ' + oField.get_internalName();
console.log(listInfo);
}
}
function getFailed() {
// TODO! Implement fail management
console.log('Failed.');
}
};
/**
* Method to get a specific listitem
*/
that.getListItem = function (itemId) {
var loadedList = lists.getById(SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedList());
var spListItem = loadedList.getItemById(itemId);
clientContext.load(spListItem);
clientContext.executeQueryAsync(execute, getFailed);
function execute() {
// TODO! Replace console.log with actual routine
//spListItem.get_fieldValues()
console.log(spListItem.get_fieldValues()["Title"]);
}
function getFailed() {
// TODO! Implement fail management
console.log('Failed.');
}
};
/**
* Method to fake an init (optional)
*/
that.init = function () {
// Run any init functionality here
// I.e
that.getFields("Tasks");
};
return that;
};
// In case of no jquery use window.onload instead
$(document).ready(function () {
ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(function () {
var sp = new ListMagic();
sp.init();
}, 'sp.js');
});
Personally, I make HttpHandlers. I install them in the SharePoint isapi folder and the GAC and I can call them just like you might the owssvr.dll. http://servername/_vti_bin/myhttphandelr.dll
Pass it querystring variables or call it from jquery ajax. You can use the httpcontext and make a spcontext from it and have access to all sorts of information from the current location in SharePoint. Then you can javascriptserialize the objects and pass them as JSON. Looking for some code... Hang on... I can't put all the code but this should get you close. I use this to add a submenu to the context menu to allow a user to delete or rename a file if they uploaded it to a library and it is version 1.0 and to collect a file from a library and create a eml file with the selected file(s) as an attachment(s). We don't give our users delete privileges normally. Point being, you can now create a class with just the information you need from SharePoint and pass it as JSON. The only downfall I have with this, is iisreset is required if you make any changes to the dll.
I task schedule a iisreset every night at midnight anyway to keep it fresh and free from memory bloat. I come in the next day and my changes are there. The cool thing is, the spcontext has information about the current location in SharePoint from where it is called. So, http://servername/_vti_bin/myhttphandelr.dll vs http://servername/subsite/library/_vti_bin/myhttphandelr.dll
I might add. Don't try to serialize SharePoint objects. One they are huge, complex objects. Two, I don't think they are marked serializable. Just make you own class and populate it with the values you need from the SharePoint objects.

Mocking an ArrayList using PwerMock

i am trying to mock an arraylist as follows using Powermock
MockDao Class
PowerMockito.mockStatic(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsDao.class);
PowerMockito.mockStatic(UtilityFunctions.class);
DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsExport dailyExceptionsExport = Mockito.mock(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsExport.class);
List<DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsGridDto> resultList = getDailyExceptions(inputDto);
try{
PowerMockito.whenNew(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsExport.class).withArguments(Mockito.any(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto.class)).thenReturn(dailyExceptionsExport);
Mockito.when(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsDao.getDailyReceiptsAndExceptions(Mockito.any(DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto.class))).thenReturn(resultList);
Mockito.when(UtilityFunctions.processReportSchedule(scheduleId, jobId,dailyExceptionsExport,(List<DailyReceiptsAndExceptionResultDTO>)Mockito.any(), null, null)).thenReturn(true);
}catch(Exception e){
}
I need to write tests for the following class.
public static Response getOutboundAvgCubeAndWeightUtilization(
#QueryParam("dc") String dc,
#QueryParam("asn") String asn,
#QueryParam("sortBy") String sort,
#QueryParam("isExport") boolean isExport,
#QueryParam("fileType") String fileType,
#QueryParam("scheduleId") BigDecimal scheduleId,
#QueryParam("jobId") BigDecimal jobId) {
ResponseDTO responseDto = new ResponseDTO();
DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto inputDto = new DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto ();
inputDto.setAsn(asn);
inputDto.setDc(dc);
inputDto.setSortBy(sort);
inputDto.setFileType(fileType);
inputDto.setExport(isExport);
String filePath = "";
try {
DailyReceiptsAndExceptionResultDTO resultDto = DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsBusinessManager.getInstance().manageDailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetails(inputDto);
List<DailyReceiptsAndExceptionResultDTO> resultsList = new ArrayList<DailyReceiptsAndExceptionResultDTO>();
resultsList.add(resultDto);
if(scheduleId != null) {
boolean responseStatus = UtilityFunctions.processReportSchedule(scheduleId, jobId, new DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsExport(inputDto), resultsList, null,null);
responseDto.setResult(Boolean.toString(responseStatus));
return CommonUtil.convertResponseToJson(responseDto);
}
}
My tests class is as follows.
#Test
public void testGetOutboundAvgCubeAndWeightUtilization_4()
throws Exception {
String dc = "5854";
String asn = "*";
String sort = "SKU";
boolean isExport = false;
String fileType = "";
BigDecimal scheduleId = new BigDecimal(100);
BigDecimal jobId = new BigDecimal(100);
DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto inputDto = new DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsInputDto ();
inputDto.setAsn(asn);
inputDto.setDc(dc);
inputDto.setSortBy(sort);
inputDto.setFileType(fileType);
inputDto.setExport(isExport);
DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsMockDAO.mockgetDailyExceptions(inputDto, scheduleId, jobId);
Response result = DailyReceiptsAndExceptionsDetailsService.getOutboundAvgCubeAndWeightUtilization(dc, asn, sort, isExport, fileType, scheduleId, jobId);
String output = result.getEntity().toString();
assertEquals(true,output.contains("\"result\": \"true\""));
}
when iam running the test case, it was throwing error because, i think the mocking of the list is not correct.
Can anybody tell how to run this test scenario ....
Your mocks appear to be fine.
JUnit is failing the test because the line
assertEquals(true,output.contains("\"result\": \"true\""));
is failing: this means that your String output does not contain the text "result": "true"
Perhaps one way for you to figure out what is wrong is to either print out the value of output prior to the assertEquals() call or use a debugger to see what the value of output is.
As a side note, assertEquals(true, <condition>) is very verbose, you can use assertTrue(<condition>) instead.
According to your comment the test is simply failing. (AssertionErrors are JUnit's way of saying that your test failed.)
You could get a better error message if you use Hamcrest. Therefore you have to change the last two lines of your code:
assertThat(result.getEntity(), hasToString(containsString("\"result\": \"true\"")));
Add some static imports for org.hamcrest.MatcherAssert.assertThat and org.hamcrest.Matchers.*.
The new error message may help you finding the error.

how to pass argument to Marionette.CompositeView

how to pass a values dynamically to an Marionette.CompositeView during run time? like in java we create a method like the following
package com.test.poc;
public class SampleMethod {
public int add(int a, int b) {
return a + b;
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
SampleMethod method = new SampleMethod();
int firstValue = 90, secondValue = 90;
System.out.println("add : " + method.add(firstValue, secondValue));
}
}
the above is the simple java code anybody can understand like the above how to create and pass arguments to Marionette.CompositeView and work on them?
Best Regards
at the moment you instanciate a view, you can pass whatever arguments you want. normally you pass the model and the collection to be rendered in the compositeView, but you can pass more data if you need.
var MyCompositeView = Backbone.Mationette.CompositeView.extend({
initialize : function (options){
this.dataValue = options.dataValue1;
this.helperObject = options.helperObject;
this.useValues();
},
useValues: function () {
console.log(this.dataValue);
}
});
var helperObject = {
value3 : "I have a value",
value4 : "I dont!"
}; /// a js object literal
var myModel = new MyModel();
var myCollection = new MyCollection();
var myCompositeView = new MyCompositeView({model:myModel,
collection:myCollection,
helperObject:helperObject,
dataValue1:"Hi there"});
notice that Im passing 4 values in the at the time to intanciate the view, and Im reading just two of them, the model and the collection will be handled by marionette, but the other two you can read them in your initialize function.
hope that helps.

Passing multiple Include statements into a repository?

I am trying to figure out a way to pass a collection of include statements into my repository so that I can have it include specific entities. Below is some sample code from my repository.
public TEntity GetById(Guid id)
{
return id != Guid.Empty ? GetSet().Find(id) : null;
}
private IDbSet<TEntity> GetSet()
{
return _unitOfWork.CreateSet<TEntity>();
}
The GetByID method calls the GetSet to return the entity set. I was thinking, if I could somehow pass in a collection of entities to include (via an expression) as part of my GetById, this way I wouldn't have to expose the GetSet to my services. So, something like this:
var entity = _repository.GetById(theId, e => {e.Prop1, e.Prop2, e.Prop3});
I could then pass that expression into my GetSet method and pass it into an include statement. Thoughts?
I have done something like this in my code recently. Would the following work for you?
public TEntity GetById(Guid id, params Expression<Func<TEntity, object>>[] includeProperties)
{
if (id == Guid.Empty) return null;
var set = _unitOfWork.CreateSet<TEntity>();
foreach(var includeProperty in includeProperties)
{
set.Include(includeProperty);
}
return set.First(i => i.Id == id);
}
Then you would call it like this...
var entity = _repository.GetById(theId, e => e.Prop1, e=> e.Prop2, e=> e.Prop3);
I know this doesn't exactly follow your pattern, but I think you could refactor it as required.
I don't think Paige Cook's code will work quite as shown.
I've included a modified version of the code that should work instead:
public TEntity GetById(Guid id, params Expression<Func<TEntity, object>>[] includeProperties)
{
if (id == Guid.Empty) return null;
IQueryable<TEntity> set = _unitOfWork.CreateSet<TEntity>();
foreach(var includeProperty in includeProperties)
{
set = set.Include(includeProperty);
}
return set.First(i => i.Id == id);
}
I only spotted this by tracing the SQL generated by Entity Framework, and realised the original code was only giving the illusion of working, by using lazy-loading to populate the entities specified for inclusion.
There's actually a more terse syntax for applying the Include statements using the LINQ Aggregate method, which is in the blog post linked to. My post also improves the method slightly by having a fall-back to the Find method, when no includes are needed and also shows an example of how to implement a "GetAll" method, using similar syntax.
It's bad idea to store context in non-local space, for many reasons.
I modify Steve's code and get this for my ASP.NET MVC projects:
public aspnet_User FirstElement(Func<aspnet_User, bool> predicate = null, params Expression<Func<aspnet_User, object>>[] includes)
{
aspnet_User result;
using (var context = new DataContext())
{
try
{
var set = context.Users.AsQueryable();
for (int i = 0; i < includes.Count(); i++ )
set = set.Include(includes[i]);
if (predicate != null)
result = set.ToList().FirstOrDefault(predicate);
else
result = set.ToList().FirstOrDefault();
}
catch
{
result = null;
}
}
return result;
}
The include method can be strung together in your linq query like so:
var result = (from i in dbContext.TableName.Include("RelationProperty")
.Include("RelationProperty")
.Include("RelationProperty")
select i);
