The installation failed at this point
I have already installed Microsoft Visual Studio c++ 2019.
I already uninstalled and delete all the hidden folders.
I read that for someone the solution was to turn off Windows firewall, I already tried it.
I also checked multiple videos of how to install MySQL, but they have the same steps, just a different voice.
Any suggestions?
Check some log information.
When you uninstall mysql, you should delete the relevant information about mysql in the registry.

I need to create a setup with Mysql installer included in the project, i am using visual studio 2015 and installshield 2015 LE, i need to check if there is MySql already installed if there's nothing installed, setup will install MySql and continue installing the main project. Having a hard time doing this 'cause i am only using LE version. i tried it on a Installshield Professional trial using chained MSI but it seems doesn't check if there is existing Mysql.
Any suggestions, tutorials or alternatives rather than Installshield?
There is a software called NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) released long time ago. You can use customized script to perform checking and installation.
I got a community server version of MySQL5.6 for windows7 32 bit.
and also downloaded windows installer for the same windows version.
Everything was prepared correctly.
I saw on a blog giving me a step-by-step manual for installing MySQL 5.6 on winodws7 32bit.
I did the instruction accordingly and it always stops processing in the phrase of starting service. I completely don't know what the problem is.
I googled it for like three hours and got nothing relevant to this problem.
It never processes any further without any kind of alerts, no matter how much I wait.
Please help me out.

TURN OFF WINDOWS FIREWALL COMPLETELY BEFORE INSTALLING
This was one of the only threads I could find on this issue and the current answers did not cut the mustard for me.
MySQL 5.6.21, both x86 and x64, did not want to get past "Starting Server" and would give me the "MySQL install taking longer than expected" message.
I tried all of the registry cleaner, folder deletions, etc to no avail.
I am running Windows 7 x64 and I finally decided to check the event viewer to find this:
0x80070422 turns out to be some unspecified firewall error and boom, it struck me like lightning.
I hope this post helps future visitors!
Have you installed other version of MySQL before? I have experienced this case ,but I installed MySQL5.5 and uninstalled it. I solved it by clearing regedit and deleting the folder of MySQL in the directory(C:\ProgramData.This directory is hidden by default in Windows.),then reinstalled it.
Follow this link http://tadeparti.com/pages/?page_id=808.
And do remember to delete everything under the C:\program files\mysql folder, including the odbc stuff if you have.
I am a bit confused the link to use to install ejabberd on my windows XP box [http://www.ejabberd.im] ? What are the steps involved and dependencies there off?
=====UPDATE=====
I installed ejabberd windows version from link as mentioned in reply thread - but when I started the app it stated:
Starting ejabberd...
./ejabberdctl: e:\bin\erl.exe: can't execute: (14001) Error 14001
There is a problem starting Erlang.
If the error you see is 14001, you need to install:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package
You can download that installer from www.microsoft.com
You can also check the ejabberd Administrator Guide
But even after downloading the package http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=5638 and successfully installing I still get the same error?
Please let me know how to resolve the same?
You could install 2.1.11 using the installer provided by Process-One here. Windows installer for 2.1.13 is not there yet.
no additional dependencies are required as ejabberd installer includes a build of Erlang runtime.
But really I fail to see what's the problem with putting up a cheap box running some free OS (I'd personally recommend Debian) where ejabberd would be installable via the OS's package manager, and will be upgraded along with the rest of the OS when the next release comes out.
I have a VB Windows forms application that uses a mysql database to keep track of everything within the application.. The problem that I know will occur is that most of the applications users will not have MYSQL let alone know how to install it properly... To install the application on the users systems I am using the Visual Studio Setup Installer to handle creation of the msi files.. What needs to happen first is the installer needs to check to see if MYSQL is installed on the host system and verify server name.. If true then import database, if not then install followed by import database... The importing is not the issue here... How do I make the installer install mysql with controlled parameters such as server name, etc, etc. Any ideas on this??? I have hammered google for the past 3 hours looking for bread crumbs on this but to no avail...
Usually existing packages (like the MySQL installer) are added as prerequisites. Visual Studio setup projects do not support custom prerequisite creation. However, this can be done by manually generating the required manifests.
You can find the manifests structure here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229223(VS.80).aspx
These manifests can be generated automatically with the Bootstrapper Manifest Generator tool.
After generating the package manifests, you can add all these files (including the package) in a separate folder in the Visual Studio prerequisites folder, for example:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\
You can then select the prerequisite in your setup project properties page.
Well... that's a good question. The first thing that pops up in my mind:
You could build the check in your application instead of the installer and warn the user about it. If needed, you could provide another installer to make sure everything is available (MySQL and the database itself).
I hope it helps you further.
Yours sincerely,
Roland
I have a Windows Server 2008 x64 machine. I have the "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (KB968368)" as an "optional" update available from Windows Update. I choose to install it, my computer installs it for a while, I restart, and that update is available again. Why doesn't my computer install it?
Thank you.
Not sure, but I had the same problem. Did you ever do an "Edition Upgrade" in the SQL Server 2008 installer? Many users who did such an upgrade are reporting problems with the update package. For me, it wasn't a mission-critical system, so I just uninstalled the whole shebang and then reinstalled.
Other workarounds at Microsoft Connect. These people have problems when it's installed on the same machine as Visual Studio.
FWIW, I find the entire setup experience for SQL Server 2008 to be absolutely miserable.
I think I got the same problem before. I googled around and found that's a known issue My solution is to check something like "don't notify this updates".
do you have any errors in your event log?
I found that I couldn't install it using windows update, I had to manually download it and it installed first time. I also has this problem for SQL 2005 sp2
I solved it. I deleted the PendingFileRenameOperation key in the registry (backed up that registry branch first), ran the install, restarted and it is now in my installed updates list.
