Loop through list of dictionaries and append to csv - json

I'm currently trying to collect tweets with the Twitter API. I want to merge two list dictionaries to a csv. The ['data'] list consist of ID and tweet, the second list, ['includes']['users'], consist of username and location. I have tried with two for loops in order to merge these elements, one for ['data'] and one for ['includes']['users']. But I end up having the exact same tweet and ID for every user in my csv output.

The id, text, location is always the same, while the username is different. How can I solve this problem?

In your for tweet in json_response['data'] loop you overwrite tweet_id and text as the loop goes on. The output you see is whatever they were set to in the last iteration of the loop.
It seems from the Twitter API that you can get usernames from the Tweet Objects as well, without json_response['includes']['users'] that you used.

Is it possible to edit a list in a json file? [duplicate]

Hi I am trying to take the data from a json file and insert and id then perform POST REST.
my file data.json has:

and I would like to add an id so that the json data looks like:

falsetru's solution is nice, but has a little bug:
Suppose original 'id' length was larger than 5 characters. When we then dump with the new 'id' (134 with only 3 characters) the length of the string being written from position 0 in file is shorter than the original length. Extra chars (such as '}') left in file from the original content.
I solved that by replacing the original file.

I would like to present a modified version of Vadim's solution. It helps to deal with asynchronous requests to write/modify json file. I know it wasn't a part of the original question but might be helpful for others.
In case of asynchronous file modification os.remove(filename) will raise FileNotFoundError if requests emerge frequently. To overcome this problem you can create temporary file with modified content and then rename it simultaneously replacing old version. This solution works fine both for synchronous and asynchronous cases.

There is really quite a number of ways to do this and all of the above are in one way or another valid approaches... Let me add a straightforward proposition. So assuming your current existing json file looks is this....

My approach has always been to keep the code extremely readable with easily traceable logic. So first, we read the entire existing json file into memory, assuming you are very well aware of your json's existing key(s).

Next, we use the 'with open()' syntax again, with the 'w' option. 'w' is a write mode which lets us edit and write new information to the file. Here s the catch that works for us ::: any existing json with the same target write name will be erased automatically.
So what we can do now, is simply write to the same filename with the new data

Just the arrangement is different, You can solve the problem by converting the "data" type to a list, then arranging it as you wish, then returning it and saving the file, like that:

This implementation should suffice:

data holds the updated object and dumped into the overwritten jsonfile in 'w' mode.
Not exactly your solution but might help some people solving this issue with keys.
I have list of files in folder, and i need to make Jason out of it with keys.

Right now your data is appended to list based on an algorithm that I can describe like this:
Load the web page
Append to list value A
Append to list value B
Append to list value C
What this creates for each run through the dataset is:
[A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, C2]
There exists only one column with data, which is what pandas is telling you. To construct the dataframe properly, either you need to swap it into a format where you have, on each row entry, a tuple of three values (heh) like:

(A2, B2, C2)

Or, in my preferred way because it's far more robust to coding errors and inconsistent lengths to your data: creating each row as a dictionary of columns. Thus,

And the data frame is constructed easily without having to explicitly specify columns in the constructor with df = pd.DataFrame(rowdict_list).
You can create a DataFrame using the array dictionary.
You would want to set the values of the array dict to empty lists that way you can append the values from the webpage into the correct list. Also move the array variable outside of the while loop.

Convert multiple csv files to json using python

I am trying to convert csv files in a folder to a single json file. Below code does the job, but the issue is, json file has the first csv written several times. Below is the code i tried. I guess i am going wrong with assigning the data variable. Help me fix it

Expected output: Json file needs to have each csv written only once into it.
if your .csv files and all of the rows do have different ['ID']s, your assigned dictionary keys should be unique. In this case, your dictionary is growing with one entry per reader .csv row.
You have to change the indentation of the jsonfile.write() function as shown below to produce just one .json file. To sort your entries you could add sort_keys=True in this function.

Twitter streaming script is throwing a keyerror on location field of the tweet

I have as of now written a Python script to stream tweets and I have made use of the tweepy module to do so. After streaming for around 3 minutes for tweets, I dump these tweets into a .json file. I populate these tweets (I try to) into a pandas dataframe for location and text fields of the tweet. The text field of the tweet gets populated but not for every tweet (problem 1) in the .json file and as far as the location field is concerned a keyerror (problem 2) is thrown. May I know what exactly is going wrong.

The location field is a user-defined value and will sometimes not be present.
That's why you're getting the KeyError.
Note that location is part of the "user profile" metadata that comes with a tweet. It's intended to describe a user's location (like their hometown), and not the geotagged location of a given tweet.
In case you're interested in geotags, first check a tweeet to see if the geo_enabled field is true. If so, the geo, coordinates, and place fields may contain geotagged information.
As for missing text entries, I don't see the same issue when using the data you provided. It's possible the issue was caused by your try/except clause when reading in lines of data. Consider this approach:

Writing Encoded JSON data to a csv using tweepy

I've been stuck on this one for a while. Right now this function writes date,latitude,longitude,userid,text of a live tweet to a csv file.
The problem is that text of the tweet often contains letters from other alphabets e.g. arabic. These letters show up in this form (\u0641\u064a).
Is it possible to encode the text to a utf-8 string and append it to the rest of the data, so that the csv file would correclty display all characters?

You've got some overuse of json. Once you loads the tweet, group the data fields in a list and use the csv module to write it nicely.
