How to display dropdown menu items of bootstrap navbar in a horizontal manner rather than vertical?

I have used below code to get bootstrap tabs. I get the output as below:
Can I use above same code to get a horizontal tab list after click web instead of vertical menu? I need output as below:

Do I need some more libraries to do this? Is this existing method(which can get from the library) is limited to that type of output only
Simply add this css code:
.open>.dropdown-menu {
display: flex !important; /* Use "important" if your css code before bootstrap lib loaded */
}
I cannot find out why the dropdown menu does not work. I am completely new in web dev
enter image description here
Make sure you have added bootstrap CDN link like:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.2/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.5.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.2/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
Check this link for navbar with dropdown menu:
https://www.w3schools.com/bootstrap4/tryit.asp?filename=trybs_navbar_dropdown&stacked=h
Post your html and css here. I can see only html code in image
Make the dropdown-menu class div tag a ul tag and all the links that need to be dropdown-items in li tags. That should work I guess.
<li class="dropdown">
<a class="dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" href="#">Categories
<span class="caret"></span></a>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li class="dropdown-item">Item 1</li>
<li class="dropdown-item">Item 2</li>
<li class="dropdown-item">Item 3</li>
</ul>
</li>
I'm doing a drop-down list where, when I hover over a specific element, I should highlight only the selected one, unfortunately the whole list is highlighted in my mind, I know the problem is that in one li there is also a new list to make a drop down menu, Unfortunately, I can not deal with it. It's actual result jsfiddle code
<div class="nav">
<ul>
<li class="parent">
<a class="parent_click">Driving</a>
<ul class="sub_list">
<li class="test">
<a class="sub_click">Type of Car</a>
<ul class="sub_sub_list">
<li>List 1</li>
<li>List 2</li>
<li>List 3</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li class="test">
<a class="sub_click">Tracks</a>
<ul class="sub_sub_list">
<li>List 1</li>
<li>List 2</li>
<li>List 3</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li class="teset">Type of driving</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
My CSS:
.sub_list, .sub_sub_list {display:none;}
li:hover{
background-color:red;
}
My JS
$(".sub_list").slideUp();
$(".parent_click").click(function() {
$(".parent_click").not(this).next().slideUp()
$(this).closest(".parent").find(".sub_list").slideToggle();
return false;
});
$(".sub_click").click(function() {
var elem = $(this).next()
$(".sub_sub_list").not(elem).slideUp();
$(this).closest(".test").find(".sub_sub_list").slideToggle();
});
Try using anchor for hover instead of li. It will be simplest and easiest solution. While you can play with code if you want complicated solution...
See below snippet.
$(".sub_list").slideUp();
$(".parent_click").click(function() {
$(".parent_click").not(this).next().slideUp()
$(this).closest(".parent").find(".sub_list").slideToggle();
return false;
});
$(".sub_click").click(function() {
var elem = $(this).next()
$(".sub_sub_list").not(elem).slideUp();
$(this).closest(".test").find(".sub_sub_list").slideToggle();
});
.sub_list, .sub_sub_list {display:none;}
a:hover{
background-color:red;
}

I tried all way css style to keep the menu items in class nav nav-bar bootstrap staying horizontal on small screen device.
The Bootstrap menu like below:
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" integrity="sha384-BVYiiSIFeK1dGmJRAkycuHAHRg32OmUcww7on3RYdg4Va+PmSTsz/K68vbdEjh4u" crossorigin="anonymous">

<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
<div class="container-fluid">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="active">Home</li>
<li>Page 1</li>
<li>Page 2</li>
<li>Page 3</li>
</ul>
</div>
</nav>
When I resize the browser or open on my iPhone mobile, the item menu stack over one another. Even though, I tried to use bootstrap class list-inline of bootstrap, it still does not work.
How can I do to achieve, the above purpose? Thanks.
Just set the display: inline-block to the nav li elements.
Stack Snippet
.navbar-default .navbar-nav>li {
display: inline-block;
}

You should probably use the visible-xs-inline class. This sets the display: inline-block style on mobile devices.
You can add this rule to override the class which defines display: block for the li elements in the navbar as a default:
ul.nav > li {
display: inline-block;
}
ul.nav>li {
display: inline-block;
}

<li>Page 2</li>

</ul>
</div>
</nav>
You need to specify the the col-xs for small screens. If you want the 4 li objects on the same line they should be 3 columns each.
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" integrity="sha384-BVYiiSIFeK1dGmJRAkycuHAHRg32OmUcww7on3RYdg4Va+PmSTsz/K68vbdEjh4u" crossorigin="anonymous">

<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
<div class="container-fluid">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="active col-xs-3">Home</li>
<li class="col-xs-3">Page 1</li>
<li class="col-xs-3">Page 2</li>
<li class="col-xs-3">Page 3</li>
</ul>
</div>

I'm learning bootstrap for the first time and the dropdown menu seems to be unformatted and doesn't look like the other menu options that I've made. Its also not appearing when clicked, but I followed a tutorial exactly. Any ideas on the problem or mistakes?

You need to place the <li class='dropdown'> within the <ul class='nav navbar-nav'>. (The presence of an <li> element without a parent list element should probably be cause for alarm in any case.)
So that part of your HTML should be shuffled to look like:
<!-- [...] -->
<!--Menu Items-->
<div>
<ul class='nav navbar-nav'>
<li class='active'>Home</li>
<li>About</li>
<li>Contact</li>
<!--drop down menu-->

<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li>Friends</li>
<li>Photos</li>
<li>Settings</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<!-- [...] -->
Here's a Bootply of the revised code. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
The bootstrap.min.js needs to come after you load jquery. I always like to start my documents with the basic template bootstrap shows here: http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#template
It makes it a lot easier to make sure I have everything loading and in the right order.
You will also want to move your dropdown li to be inside your ul with the "nav navbar-nav" class. Like this:
<ul class='nav navbar-nav'>
<li class='active'>Home</li>
<li>About</li>
<li>Contact</li>
<!--drop down menu-->
<li class='dropdown'>
My Profile <span class="caret"></span>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li>Friends</li>
<li>Photos</li>
<li>Settings</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
