FontAwesome icons not appearing when deploying website to Github - html

I'm currently using GitHub to host a website. I'm using Font Awesome to get some icons. During testing, everything worked perfectly, but when deploying to Github, the icons disappear.

html and css not linking

My html and CSS files are not linking even though they're in the same directory.
here's my html code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1">
<title>temp</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="main.css">
</head>
I also tried using href="/main.css" and href="./main.css" but to no avail.
would appreciate any help!
Use this app.use(express.static('public')); awesome talking to you guys.
<link rel='stylesheet' href='./main.css' />
i don't know why it is not working for you. but it should work!!!
have you tried restarting your app??
try it.
close and then restart.
Try adding this snippet after title block
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" integrity="sha384-ggOyR0iXCbMQv3Xipma34MD+dH/1fQ784/j6cY/iJTQUOhcWr7x9JvoRxT2MZw1T" crossorigin="anonymous">

How to define a meta tag for responsive layout?

Have I made a mistake when writing the code? And if not, is there another way to link CSS to HTML Page? I have tried a couple different ways of writing it but nothing seems to work.
Here's how I wrote it...
<head>
<title>Quiz App</title>
<meta name="viewpoint" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css"/>
</head>
I also tried...
<head>
<title>Quiz App</title>
<meta name="viewpoint" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link = rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css"/>
</head>
Thanks
You wrote viewport as viewpoint in your meta tag.
In your first snippet, change this:
<meta name="viewpoint" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
To this:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

CSS won't render on IE11

I'm trying to see why our CSS won't render on IE. I'm thinking maybe it is something to do with linking the stylesheet? This is hosted on Salesforce Marketing Cloud if it matters. I've included everything in the header below:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0"><link rel="icon" type="image/ico" href="contents/ui/theme/i/favicon.ico">
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow"><link rel="dns-prefetch" href=""><link rel="dns-prefetch" href="//fonts.googleapis.com">
<link rel="stylesheet" id="them-style-css" href="https://xx.com/b2c-general-css" type="text/css" media="all">
<link rel="stylesheet" id="g-font-css" href="//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Roboto%3A300%2C500%2C700&ver=4.9.8" type="text/css" media="all">
<script type="text/javascript" src="%%=CloudPagesURL(XX)=%%"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="%%=CloudPagesURL(XX)=%%"></script>
use the meta in head
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
