Converting MySQL Queries to SQL Server - mysql

Can anyone please help converting the MySQL query below to SQL Server.
The 'DATE_FORMAT' and the LIMIT:limit are the problem.
SELECT
DATE_FORMAT(e.eventTime, '%m/%d/%Y %h:%i:%s %p') eventTime,
e.displayPath,
SUBSTRING_INDEX(source, '/alm:', -1) name,
e.eventType,
CASE WHEN e.priority = 0 THEN 'Diagnostic' WHEN e.priority = 1 THEN 'Low' WHEN e.priority = 2 THEN 'Medium' WHEN e.priority = 3 THEN 'High' WHEN e.priority = 4 THEN 'Critical' ELSE '' END priority,
COALESCE(COALESCE(COALESCE(d.intvalue, d.floatvalue), d.strvalue), '') eventValue,
COALESCE(ack.strvalue, '') ackUser
FROM
alarm_events e
LEFT JOIN alarm_event_data d ON d.id = e.id AND d.propname = 'eventValue'
LEFT JOIN alarm_event_data ack ON ack.id = e.id AND ack.propname = 'ackUser'
WHERE
eventtime BETWEEN :startDate AND :endDate AND priority BETWEEN :minPriority AND :maxPriority AND
((:active AND e.eventtype = 0) OR (:clear AND e.eventtype = 1) OR (:ack AND e.eventtype = 2))
ORDER BY
e.eventTime DESC
LIMIT :limit

Variables in SQL use an # instead of the : so you would need to adjust for that and populate your variables from the application.
Instead of the LIMIT parameter, you'd begin the query with a SELECT TOP #limit
The SUBSTRING_INDEX function needs to be adjusted to a standard SUBSTRING and PATINDEX function.
You would need to use the FORMAT() instead of DATE_FORMAT() function ().
As mentioned in the comments, using additional COALESCE() functions in SQL Server is unnecessary.
So the final query would look something like this (with variables to be set by your calling program):
SELECT TOP (#limit)
FORMAT(e.eventTime, 'M/d/yy hh:mm:ss tt') eventTime,
e.displayPath,
SUBSTRING(source, patindex(source,'/alm:'),len(source)) name,
e.eventType,
CASE WHEN e.priority = 0 THEN 'Diagnostic' WHEN e.priority = 1 THEN 'Low' WHEN e.priority = 2 THEN 'Medium' WHEN e.priority = 3 THEN 'High' WHEN e.priority = 4 THEN 'Critical' ELSE '' END priority,
COALESCE(d.intvalue, d.floatvalue, d.strvalue, '') eventValue,
COALESCE(ack.strvalue, '') ackUser
FROM
alarm_events e
LEFT JOIN alarm_event_data d ON d.id = e.id AND d.propname = 'eventValue'
LEFT JOIN alarm_event_data ack ON ack.id = e.id AND ack.propname = 'ackUser'
WHERE
eventtime BETWEEN #startDate AND #endDate AND priority BETWEEN #minPriority AND #maxPriority AND
((#active AND e.eventtype = 0) OR (#clear AND e.eventtype = 1) OR (#ack AND e.eventtype = 2))
ORDER BY
e.eventTime DESC

Output of 3 queries

Got this 3 in 1 query:
SELECT * FROM
(
SELECT mesures.date j, AVG(mesures.valeur) maxi
FROM mesures
JOIN plages_horaire ON mesures.id_plage = plages_horaire.id_plage
WHERE MONTH(mesures.date) = '9' AND YEAR(mesures.date) = '2016' AND mesures.code_station = 'P02SE' AND mesures.id_crit = '1' AND mesures.id_type = '1'
GROUP BY mesures.date
) maxi
,
(
SELECT AVG(mesures.valeur) mini
FROM mesures
JOIN plages_horaire ON mesures.id_plage = plages_horaire.id_plage
WHERE MONTH(mesures.date) = '9' AND YEAR(mesures.date) = '2016' AND mesures.code_station = 'P02SE' AND mesures.id_crit = '1' AND mesures.id_type = '2'
GROUP BY mesures.date
) mini
,
(
SELECT AVG(mesures.valeur) moy
FROM mesures
JOIN plages_horaire ON mesures.id_plage = plages_horaire.id_plage
WHERE MONTH(mesures.date) = '9' AND YEAR(mesures.date) = '2016' AND mesures.code_station = 'P02SE' AND mesures.id_crit = '1' AND mesures.id_type = '3'
GROUP BY mesures.date
) moy
GROUP BY j
Problem is that I get what I want excepting values of the 2 last columns are the same at every rows:
query output
I believe it's because of the GROUP BY.
From what I can see from your query, you don't need the plage_horaire table. You can also simplify the logic greatly by using conditional aggregation:
SELECT m.date,
AVG(CASE WHEN m.id_type = 1 THEN m.valeur END) maxi,
AVG(CASE WHEN m.id_type = 2 THEN m.valeur END) mini,
AVG(CASE WHEN m.id_type = 3 THEN m.valeur END) maxmoy,
FROM mesures m
WHERE MONTH(m.date) = 9 AND YEAR(m.date) = 2016 AND
m.code_station = 'P02SE' AND m.id_crit = 1 AND m.id_type IN (1, 2, 3)
GROUP BY m.date ;
Notice that I also removed the quotes from the numeric constants. MONTH() and YEAR() return numbers, so quotes are not appropriate. I am guessing that the ids are numeric as well.

how to get SUM() of COUNT() column in MySQL

i have the following query, tried using case statement
SELECT t.inst_id, t.inst_username, tcm.city_name,
SUM(CASE WHEN psb.pms_student_bucket_id IS NULL THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS not_assiged,
SUM(CASE WHEN COUNT(psb.pms_student_bucket_id) BETWEEN 1 AND 50 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS '1-50',
SUM(CASE WHEN COUNT(psb.pms_student_bucket_id) > 50 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS ' > 50'
FROM tbl_si_di t
JOIN tbl_city_master tcm ON tcm.city_id = t.city_ref_id
JOIN tbl_si_students tss ON tss.inst_ref_id = t.inst_id
LEFT JOIN pms_student_bucket psb ON psb.user_ref_id = tss.user_ref_id
GROUP BY t.inst_id;
I need SUM of pms_student_bucket_id column when their COUNT is '1-50' and '>50'. Right now this query is saying Invalid use of group function.
How would I SUM on COUNT of "pms_student_bucket_id" equals/between some value in mysql?
you could put it in a subquery
SELECT inst_id, inst_username, city_name,
SUM(pms_student_bucket_id IS NULL ) AS not_assiged,
SUM(num_bucket >=10 AND num_bucket <= 20) AS '10 - 20'
SUM(num_bucket <= 50) AS '1-50',
SUM(num_bucket > 50) AS ' > 50'
FROM
( SELECT t.inst_id, t.inst_username, tcm.city_name,psb.pms_student_bucket_id,
COUNT(psb.pms_student_bucket_id) as num_bucket
FROM tbl_si_di t
JOIN tbl_city_master tcm ON tcm.city_id = t.city_ref_id
JOIN tbl_si_students tss ON tss.inst_ref_id = t.inst_id
LEFT JOIN pms_student_bucket psb ON psb.user_ref_id = tss.user_ref_id
GROUP BY t.inst_id
)t1
GROUP BY inst_id;
note you can use the boolean values returned to do what you want.. aka you don't need a case statement, the boolean value returns a 1 or 0 which can then be summed..

Doctrine 2 DQL CASE WHEN in Count

I have this Query in native MySQL Code
SELECT *
FROM `turn`
LEFT JOIN (
poi
) ON ( turn.id = poi.turn_id )
GROUP BY turn.id
ORDER BY count( case when poi.image = 1 then 1 else null end) DESC;
I need to rebuild this in Doctrine 2 DQL
My attempt so far is this:
SELECT t, COUNT((CASE WHEN Bundle\Entity\Poi p.image = 1 then 1 ELSE NULL END)) AS num
FROM Bundle\Entity\Turn t
JOIN t.pois p
GROUP BY t.id
ORDER BY num DESC
And im getting this error:
An exception has been thrown during the rendering of a template ("[Syntax Error] line 0, col 99: Error: Expected end of string, got '.'") in Bundle:Admin:showTurnsFiltered.html.twig at line 75.
What am i doing wrong?
I found it by myself after hours of trying and searching, it's working with this DQL:
$dql = 'SELECT t,
SUM(CASE WHEN p.image = 1 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS numImage
FROM Bundle\Entity\Turn t
JOIN t.pois p
GROUP BY t.id
ORDER BY numImage DESC';
Important that you need to use SUM instead of COUNT
You need to use ResultSetMappingBuilder. It would look something like :
public function getTurn()
{
$rsm = new ResultSetMappingBuilder($this->_em);
$rsm->addRootEntityFromClassMetadata('Foo\BarBundle\Entity\Turn', 't');
$rsm->addJoinedEntityFromClassMetadata('Foo\BarBundle\Entity\Poi', 'p', 't', 'poi', array('id' => 'poi_id'));
$rsm->addScalarResult('ImageCount', 'ImageCount');
$sql = 'SELECT t.id, t.foo, t.bar,
SUM(CASE WHEN p.image = 1 then 1 else null end) ImageCount,
FROM Turn t
INNER JOIN poi p ON t.id = p.turn_id
ORDER BY ImageCount DESC';
$query = $this->_em->createNativeQuery($sql, $rsm);
return $query->getScalarResult();
}
note: you might need to change $query->getScalarResult()to $query->getResult().

How to perform multiple calculations with in a single query

I have a situation where in i have to get the data from an Year Ago , Previous Month and Current Month. What is the best way to achieve this ?
I have a table which contains the year,month and data in it. In the below query have added a filter
c.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #12MonthsAgo) and c.ReportYear = Year(#12MonthsAgo)
This is for an year ago. In the same way if i have to get the previous month and current month, can i do that with in the same query by setting the filters ? how do we do that ?
Is there a better way other than i end up writing 3 select queries and then putting the select to a tmp table and later merging the tables ?
create table #TPTABLE
(
KPIName varchar(150)
,MetricName Varchar(200)
,MetricId INT
,DataSource varchar(50)
,[AnYearAgo] Float
,[PreviousMonth] float
,[CurrentMonth] float
);
insert into #TPTABLE
(KPIName,MetricName,MetricId,DataSource,[AnYearAgo])
SELECT
p.KPIName
,p.MetricName
,p.MetricId
,p.DataSource
,c.Value as [AnYearAgo]
FROM [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMetricDetails] p
LEFT JOIN [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMectricValues] c
ON p.[MetricId] = c.MetricId
WHERE c.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #12MonthsAgo) and c.ReportYear = Year(#12MonthsAgo)
ORDER BY KPI_Id ASC, [MetricId] ASC
SELECT
p.KPIName
,p.MetricName
,p.MetricId
,p.DataSource
,c.Value
,c2.Value
,c3.Value
FROM [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMetricDetails] p
LEFT JOIN [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMectricValues] c
ON p.[MetricId] = c.MetricId
AND c.[CommissionerCode] = COALESCE(NULLIF(#Commissioner, ''), c.[CommissionerCode])
ANd ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #12MonthsAgo) and c.ReportYear = Year(#12MonthsAgo)
LEFT JOIN [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMectricValues] c2
ON p.[MetricId] = c2.MetricId
AND c2.[CommissionerCode] = COALESCE(NULLIF(#Commissioner, ''), c2.[CommissionerCode])
ANd c2.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #PreviousMonth) and c2.ReportYear = Year(#PreviousMonth)
LEFT JOIN [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMectricValues] c3
ON p.[MetricId] = c3.MetricId
AND c3.[CommissionerCode] = COALESCE(NULLIF(#Commissioner, ''), c3.[CommissionerCode])
ANd c3.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #PreviousMonth) and c3.ReportYear = Year(#PreviousMonth)
ORDER BY p.KPI_Id ASC, p.[MetricId] ASC
I think what you need is this:
insert into #TPTABLE
(KPIName,MetricName,MetricId,DataSource,[AnYearAgo])
SELECT
KPIName
,MetricName
,MetricId
,DataSource
,[AnYearAgo]
,[PreviousMonth]
,[CurrentMonth]
FROM (
SELECT
KPIName
,MetricName
,MetricId
,DataSource
,KPI_Id
,sum(case when c.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #12MonthsAgo) and c.ReportYear = Year(#12MonthsAgo) then c.Value else 0 end) as [AnYearAgo]
,sum(case when c.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #PreviousMonth) and c.ReportYear = Year(#PreviousMonth) then c.Value else 0 end) as [PreviousMonth]
,sum(case when c.ReportMonth = DATENAME(month, #CurrentMonth) and c.ReportYear = Year(#CurrentMonth) then c.Value else 0 end) as [CurrentMonth]
FROM [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMetricDetails] p
LEFT JOIN [IntegratedCare].[report].[KPIMectricValues] c
ON p.[MetricId] = c.MetricId
GROUP BY KPIName, MetricName, MetricId, DataSource, KPI_Id
ORDER BY KPI_Id ASC, [MetricId] ASC

Is it possible to change the order by "DESC/ASC" in a case statment - MySql

I have a select statement with a order by command. Now the order by command has a case statment based on the status of the record it sort by a different column. However, I need to also the order by DESC if the status = 1 else order by ASC.
How can I do this?
This is my current statement:
SELECT ph.phone_call_id AS id, ph.call_subject AS callSubject,
ph.trigger_on AS triggerOn,
ph.isAppointment,
IFNULL(ph.last_attempt_on, "") last_attempt_on,
ind.name AS industry,
ac.account_id,
ac.account_name AS accountName
FROM phone_calls AS ph
INNER JOIN accounts AS ac ON ph.account_id = ac.account_id
INNER JOIN industries AS ind ON ind.industry_id = ac.industry_id
INNER JOIN call_codes AS cc ON ph.call_code_id = cc.call_code_id
WHERE ac.status = 1
AND ph.status = '.$call_status.'
AND ph.owner_id = '. USER_ID .'
AND ac.do_not_call = 0
ORDER BY CASE WHEN ph.status = 1 THEN ph.trigger_on ELSE ph.last_attempt_on END
Is this what you want?
ORDER BY (CASE WHEN ph.status = 1 THEN ph.trigger_on end) DESC,
(case when ph.status <> 1 then ph.last_attempt_on END) ASC
