Bitnami unknown error when starting mysql and apache - mysql

When attempting to start the mysql and apache services from the Bitnami Wamp stack manager i get the following error.
Starting MySQL Database... Exit code: 1 Stdout:
Stderr: Unknown error starting mysql
I have been able to start the mysql server manually by navigating to the mysql/bin folder and running mysqld, but this is a less than desirable solution.
I tried running the net start "wampstackMySQL" command in cmd, which i found in the mysql/scripts/servicesrun.bat file, but i get the following error.
System error 1058 has occurred.
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
In the services monitor (windows tool) i find both apache and mysql, but all the options for them are greyed out.
There seems to be an issue with the mysql and apache services, but i am unable to figure out what and how to solve this. Anyone have any ideas?

Unable to connect to localhost:3306 (2003) for MySQL 8.0.21 on Windows

I am using MySQL workbench to connect to my local server. Everything was running fine and suddenly I jumped in a connection refused errors. I tried restarting the server again and again. Clearing temp files and also restarted my machine. I found this post from which I tried a couple of things like net stop and stopping the process from the services list but in the services list it shows as below:
I waited like for 30 mins but still, the service is not stopped.
Also, below is the screenshot for MySQL workbench when I try to start the server:
Is there anything specific which I need to do in order to resolve this error:
So, I resolved my own problem in this way. I referred the documentation for this particular error and for my error which is of 2003 type it said that look for mysqld.exe process in task manager and if you don't find any then start the server. But, in my case I found 2 mysqld.exe processes running. So, I killed those processes and restarted the server. It worked!!
Might help someone someday :)

MySQL Server command mysqld is not working

(Windows 7) I just installed MySQL Server 5.7 using the MSI installer, therefore as I understand, it is installed as Windows Service.
I am having trouble launching the server using the command:
C:\>mysqld
After issuing this command in command line, nothing happens. The cursor just keeps blinking and I get stuck.
If I try to launch the server using Windows Services I get the following message:
"The MySQL104 service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
*(MySQL104 is the server name that I specified during the installation)
Also if I try to run this service via command line as service using command:
C:\>net start MySQL104
I get the answer:
C:\>net start MySQL104
The MySQL104 service is starting.
The MySQL104 service could not be started.
The service did not report an error.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.
C:\>net helpmsg 3534
The service did not report an error.
Right now the only way for me to reboot the server is to reboot my whole system, for it starts automatically at system startup.
I am running the command line as administrator. I am out of ideas.
The service is actually started, with no logs. You can run queries. (the .err log file in data folder also says this).
Check the my.ini configure file
Check the my.err(the file name is depend on your configure) for any error information
Fix all the errors

Can't get MySQL to start

I can't get my MySQL Sever to start. It had been running fine for a month or so since the install, but after a reboot yesterday, it will not start. I have tried a number of recommendations from other posts here, but no luck.
This install worked fine until the reboot. According to Activity Monitor I do have one mysqld process running.
I get this error from:
mysql -u root
"ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)"
I get this error when running:
sudo /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start
"ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/mysql/data/laptop.pid)."
Also the MySQL prerPane shows the Server Status stopped. Clicking the "Start MySQL Server" brings the spinning ball and doesn't start the server.
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall.
I'm running 10.9.6 OSX and what seems to be mysql-5.6.22-osx10.8-x86_64. (even though I also have a directory for mysql-5.7.10-osx10.9-x86_64 in my /usr/local/ directory). My install is from the Pkg file from the MySQL website.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Card-carrying OS/X user here . . .
Start by firing up the Console utility and using it to examine the logs in /var/log/apache2. (Use File..Open.. within the utility.)
I'm a little bit uncomfortable about your actual boots-on-the-ground situation because you indicate that you have installed a version that is different from the one that Apple provides. (How did it work, before?) Apple's utilities can only be expected to know about Apple's expected tools.
(Incidentally, the latest OS/X, "El Capitan," is running 5.7.11 as "the official, Apple-installed version.")

Chef server error on create user (/etc/opscode/pivotal.rb does not exist)

I am extremely new to chef and I am attempting to create a chef server running on a Digital Ocean Ubuntu 14.04 droplet. I am using this guide for the install. I download the .deb and installed it fine. I then run chef-server-ctl reconfigure which runs without an issue. When I go to create my user I enter in all the details and run it, it then waits a few seconds and returns the error ERROR: CONFIGURATION ERROR:Specified config file /etc/opscode/pivotal.rb does not exist
I have scoured the internet to try and find a fix but haven't been able to find a thing. I have also tried doing these exact steps on a VPS running Ubuntu 12.04.5 and getting identical results.
For /etc/opscode/pivotal.pem is missing error use following command.
cp /opt/opscode/embedded/service/omnibus-ctl/spec/fixtures/pivotal.pem /etc/opscode/
Ran into the same thing when trying to install chef in an VM.
Expanding the memory (from 512Mb to 1512Mb) and reran reconfigure solved it for me.
Same problem here. An older version, for example 12.03 of chef-server works for me with Ubuntu 14.04
I got this error because my /etc/opscode/chef-server.rb had a syntax error.
The syntax error was displayed earlier in the logs, however my install script has kept going, causing later on this error.
More than likely, you have forgotten to run chef-server-ctl reconfigure. It's ambiguous naming of the command as it's reconfigure, however the installation guide for Chef Server actually states to run it after installing the package.
Why it's not part of the installation process is beyond me.
I had this problem as well. I exited my ssh session to the node I was configuring. I connected again and ran chef-server-ctl reconfigure again. I was able to then create a user without the error. I was using chef-server-core_12.1.0-1_amd64.deb for my install.
I got the same error with Ubuntu trusty 14.04 64 bit
/etc/opscode/pivotal.rb does not exist. I followed what Matthias Said and destroyed my VM ( I'm using Vagrant), then I quickly set up the VM and installed Chef server 12.03. I can now set up users correctly.
Just an FYI I also tried to install the latest version of chef which is 12.2.0 and do this but I also ran into the same error when trying to provision a user account.
Downgrading to 12.03 solved it for me.
I run in the same issue on CentOS 7 and Chef Infra Server 12.19.31; the following steps helped me to get the root cause of the problem.
Re-run the chef-server-ctl reconfigure and check if it gives any error at the end of the run
In my case, I received the error
Chef Client failed. 0 resources updated in 02 minutes 19 seconds
Check the stack trace / output log on
/var/opt/opscode/local-mode-cache/chef-stacktrace.out
I received
Errno::ENOMEM: Cannot allocate memory - ls -1 /opt/opscode/embedded/service/oc_id/db/migrate | tail -n 1 | sed -e "s/_.*//g"
To solve the problem, I upgraded the system with higher memory.
TL;DR;
Rerun the chef-server-ctl reconfigure to get the error
Upgrade the allocated memory to solve the issue
Me too got this error while installing chef infra server pkg in centos 8.
"ERROR: CONFIGURATION ERROR: Specified config file /etc/opscode/pivotal.rb does not exist"
Post Memory up-gradation I re-run below cmd its fixed issue:
sudo chef-server-ctl reconfigure

Xampp Linux: PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection refused in lock_may_be_available() error

I have been struggling to find a solution for this issue with MySQL. Things changed after I placed a ojdbc jar file on Apache Solr tomcat server. Since then i have been getting this error. It seems there is yet another mysql instance running on the machine.
Xampp Status shows MySQL Database is deactivated. I have been searching for a working solution since this morning but no luck. Your help is very much appreciated.
PS: /opt/lampp/lampp status says mysql is 'running'. When stopped, it reads 'OK' but when starting it again, it says 'already running'....and the Xampp Status page says MySQL database is Deactivated
The command /opt/lampp/lampp status basically goes and check for the pid file
MYSQL_PIDFILE=/opt/lampp/var/mysql/$HOSTNAME.pid
Sometimes this PID file get corrupted (in case of a crash, or procees kill).
In such scenario, the status command will tell you that the mysql is running, where as there is no process that exists for that PID file and the XAMPP status which shows in the browser will not be able to connect to the server (because it is not running) and hence come as deactivated.
Just rename the pid file as $HOSTNAME_bkp.pid or something like that and restart lampp, the issue will get resolved.
