I have just recently added links and scripts of Bootstrap v4.5 into my project and noticed that by default it changes all of the text, buttons and styling I have previously done.
I added an bootstrap alert for my authentication however I do not want Bootstrap changing all of my CSS that I have implemented to it's default Bootstrap look.
Is there a way for Bootstrap to not alter the pre HTML and CSS I have created. I am only interested in using the Bootstrap elements I manually include such as the alerts and widgets.
Help is much appreciated.
Thank you!
Put link to your custom script and CSS below the links of bootstrap. The bootstrap CSS will get overridden.
PS: You can also download the customized bootstrap files according to just what you need, check this here

I started learning django a few weeks ago and the one thing i have noticed and causes me a lot of issues, is the clarification between HTML and Bootstrap classes. I know that when you are creating a tag in HTML, you can add a class in it that can be named anything and then we usually use the class to write CSS, right? But i finished some tutorials and realized that some people just wrote a class like btn btn-warning and a button with styling automatically came up even though they didn't write any CSS for it. And then i tested it with a random name and it was plain blank. Can someone please explain all of this that why when we use some specific names that already customized tag is shown on the website.
Thanks a lot!!
HTML and bootstrap are both somehow similar. Its just that with HTML you will have to manually write all codes to perform any action however Bootstrap saves your time as it has its inbuilt tags that work for specific action.
For example you can create your own navigation bar with HTML or use navbar tag of bootstrap. The navbar however has built in functions so there is less work. You can use in by including bootstrap link in your css like:
But it's kind of tedious to edit the bootstrap tags if you sometimes want to.
And,HTML is mainly used for the basic designs and bootstrap to make it more responsive. You can know about bootstrap more here:
https://www.w3schools.com/whatis/whatis_bootstrap.asp
Bootstrap is basically alot of premade css classes
so when you are using Bootstrap in your site you already have those classes and you can just use them
i recommend you to go to W3School and read about it in depth
Bootstrap is the most popular HTML, CSS, and JavaScript framework for
developing responsive, mobile-first websites.
Bootstrap is completely free to download and use!

I have site created already which is not bootstrap, and now i need to implement the bootstrapValidator for the validation purpose, if i include bootstrap css then my site style also changing,
Is there any way to include bootstrap form styles alone in html, apart from cut copy in bootstrap css file?
You can use the Bootstrap Customizer
and check only the "form" checkbox to download only the part you need...
Use customize css download from bootstrap site, here you see the options of customizations. You can choose what you want in your CSS. Or you can use less css, download the bootstrap less master from github and compile theme as per your project needs.
The only way to do this is to find a stylesheet that someone else took the time to copy / paste from the Bootstrap. I've done this on several occasions, and its pretty simple as all the form-styling elements are placed next to each other in the bootstrap stylesheet.
So, find you scissors :)
You can't import a part of a css file, so you can copy/paste your desires classes on your actual css or rename your classes in your css file to not have conflicts with bootstrap's classes name and then your site's style will not change when you include bootstrap.
I'm building a JSP component (jsp-tag), which should have a bootstrap look,
because we use Bootstrap on some, not all pages. My component needs only
3 bootstrap classes for buttons (CSS classes .btn, .btn-success, .btn-error),
nothing else.
I would like to have that JSP component as self-contained as possible,
so I don't want to add the 100+KB bootstrap.css within my component,
but only a minimal CSS.
And another reason not to include the big bootstrap.css:
I don't want to change (=destroy) current pages with bootstrap styles.
Can I extract easily the styling for Bootstrap buttons somehow?
I copied and pasted the bootstrap stylings from my Firebug, which
works well on modern browsers (IE9+, FF, Chrome), but not on IE8.
So IE8 uses some CSS stylings that I could not reliably find out.
You can create a custom bootstrap build for yourself via the bootstrap website.
Here's the link.
Just select the components you want and download the generated css file.
I am pretty new in WordPress and BootStrap CSS framework and I have the following doubt:
I have installed this theme that integrate BootStrap framework and I want to use it as a start point: http://bootstrapwp.rachelbaker.me/
I have change the background color of the homepage changing the background-color property into the body field in a file named bootstrapwp.css inside my theme using FireBug plugin
Ok...my doubts are:
1) Why this CSS file is named bootstrapwp.css and not bootstrap.css as in the downloaded BootStrap 3 framework? And why this file is slightly different form the dowloaded bootstrap.css file?
2) What is the better way to change a style in BootStra? I can change it directly inside my bootstrapwp.css or is better do it in another file overriding this behavior?
Tnx
Andrea
Andrea:
There are a lot of answers for your questions but I will work to simplify it for you.
First, what the developers are trying to do is get Bootstrap functionality within the Wordpress CMS. They are two entirely different animals. Bootstrap consists of individual pages that must be hand coded. Wordpress is a Content Management System (CMS) where you can apply a style, theme, sidebar, template or widget and have it appear on every page site-wide.
So, what the developer is doing is using the bootstrapwp.css file to handle the CSS for the entire Bootstrap themed Wordpress site. Remember, this is NOT a Bootstrap site. It is a Bootstrap themed Wordpress site that seeks to incorporate the functionality and design of Bootstrap within the confines of the Wordpress Codex.
If you're running a Wordpress site, the best way to change a style is always going to be in the CSS file provided by the child theme.
You can try Impulse Press. It's the most complete Wordpress Bootstrap 3 starter Theme
Take a look at the demo impulsepress.twoimpulse.com
with this you can change your css style in bootstrap-theme.css and don't touch bootstrap.css , so when we have an update it doesn't ruin your site styles
And Vincent Polisi is right, you can also make a child theme and get Impulse Press always updated
I'm going to be making changes to Twitter Boostrap to generate my own theme and would like some kind of cheat sheet that shows the results from tweaking the styles and CSS.
Ideally maybe a single web page with all the Twitter Boostrap elements in it would be great instead of the Bootstrap documentation which has them spread out.
Even better would be a page with annotations on the various elements to show the result of your changes to the variables.less file.
Does anyone know of any resources that I should look at? Thanks in advance.
I created Bootply exactly for this purpose. Bootply is a "jsfiddle" style app that lets you edit Bootstrap friendly HTML, JS and CSS. It includes Bootstrap and jQuery for you, and there are also Bootstrap snippets that you can select from the toolbar and paste into the editor. Just click 'Run' to see your results.
Bootply features
Toolbar with all Bootstrap CSS, Components, and Javascript
Name, tag and share working Bootstrap examples
Preview in full screen or mobile/responsive
Include FontAwesome, jQueryUI and other Bootstrap-ready extensions
Test different Bootstrap versions

Also, this test page is useful for seeing all of the available elements at once.
