Work with analytics with Google Drive's videos shared with colleagues - google-drive-api

I have the task to count how many users (colleagues) and (if it's possible), who have already viewed the videos that I have in a shared folder at my company's GSuite Google Drive.
Has anyone faced this before?
Any tips of advice will be very well received.

Also Drive Audit Activity Events.
Between those two I think you should find what you are looking for.

Re-authorize hundreds Google scripts indefinitely

I have about 700 Google sheets, running scripts.
For too many years now, I have to re-authorize these scripts indefinitely.
Of course, I searched the net, I simplified my scripts to minimize the number of services called. Recently, I was hoping that the Google Alpha V8 script could have helped me, but no, definitely no. Still no solution.
My hundreds of sheets are opened by the employees of my company, therefore hundreds of scripts linked to these sheets are automatically used thanks to triggers (simple and installable triger)
It seems obvious that there is a limitation on the number of scripts allowed at the same time. This limitation having been visibly reached for years, I have to re-authorize, every day, some scripts. But by doing this, I guess I am revoking so many other scripts. How Google decides to revoke this or that script, I don't know. I guess the least used.
Why this limitation? Is it possible to increase it?
If not, what is the solution?
I add I found this page https://developers.google.com/apps-script/guides/services/authorization , which is talking about OAuth application user limits (at the very bottom of the page) . I wonder if this could help me.

As I could expected, I hit on restrictions, placed by my organization, I imagine. I am unable to create project. See 1
In the same time, and strangely, I own several projects. 2. I don't know why they exist, even if I recognize their names which are those of several of my scripts.
Anyway if I want to publish my script as an Add-on, I have to "link" my script to a "standard GCP project".
As it is impossible to create specific projects, I tried to follow a google procedure, consisting to link my script to an existing project. But as it was expected, it does not work either 3

Convert your scripts to an add-on. Then these add-ons can be shared across users and spreadsheets, and you can actually reduce the number of places you need to maintain code. You can view the publishing guide here: https://developers.google.com/gsuite/add-ons/how-tos/publishing-editor-addons
A second solution is to create a standard Google Cloud Platform project and change (some/all of) your scripts to use it, rather than their own hidden GCP project. More info about this step: https://developers.google.com/apps-script/guides/cloud-platform-projects
Note that both of these solutions will result in sharing of certain quota limits, which may mean you need to redesign or update how you do things
However, both of these changes provide increased visibility into the errors that your scripts encounter, as you no longer have 700+ places to check for error reports, just a 1 or a handful.

Project with Google Drive API? Is it doable?

I've been thinking about a project I'd like to start using the Google Drive API. My idea was to make a webpage (using Laravel) to let guests download files. I'd have 3 different types of users: the guests, that would be able to download files, the logged in users, that would be able to upload files, and the admins, which would be able to do all of that plus delete files (these files would be PDFs only).
Also, the server it would run on wouldn't have a lot of hard drive space for storing the files, it would just host the page and maybe keep some of the most important files. But the thing is, I have no experience whatsoever with this API. And I would hate to go through all of this trouble just to discover that it can't be done. I've tried reading the documentation but I still don't know if this is doable, and I can't find reliable tutorials (also, I don't know what is reliable, I've never worked with it).
So, for anyone who has already done something with the API, is this doable? Will the download speeds be too slow? Will users without accounts be able to download? Also, do you know any tutorials that are reliable and do it the right way? Or is the documentation the only thing I'll find/need?

All three cases can be handled with google drive sdk. You need to explore API in depth. Creation and downloads are easy and upload is tricky.

Secondly, please note of the Requirements and Best Practices that a Drive API integration must adopt.

Best practices
In the "create new" flow, Google Drive provides your application with an authorization code. This code should be upgraded to an access token as soon as possible before applications take other actions.

It is in regards to an email from google about migrating discontinued documents list API

How do I determine, which, if any, docs are going to cease to function post 4/20? Is there a way to organize my current list of docs (I have many) to see how many I need to pay attention to? In terms of migrating, is there a migrating tool available online?
From what I have read, I feel like this doesn't even pertain to my current drive. My understanding is that this is for developers not casual users such as myself. Am I wrong in that assumption?

The key part of the email is Our records indicate that you may have an application that uses Documents List API
If you have such an app (you should know since by implication, you wrote it), then you have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks. If you don't, then relax. Your documents are not affected by this announcement, only the app that Google thinks you once wrote.
It's possible it's referring to an app you have installed, in which case there is nothing you can do other than hope the developer has a new version.
In my case Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook and Google Drive Windows seem to be the 2 applications that are requesting access to these depecrated scopes ... Come on Google, spread the word internally !

Google Drive Public Links Concurrent Limits

I have been using Google Drive files shared with "View Everybody with Links" to store images that are included in transactional emails (like header images, etc).
I get the links using the SDK, and my links look like:
https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id={somefileId}.
This is basically the technique from Displaying files (e.g. images) stored in Google Drive on a website.
This works... most of the time.
Sometimes I get reports of users not being able to download the images. I cannot figure it out what is going on, but I believe it is that there is a limit on how many concurrent or maybe accumulative requests can be done on a given link and/or user account.
I am looking for documentation that confirms this. My specific question is: does anybody know the quota limits imposed by Google Drive? (if you have a link to official information it would be great).

How to find time spent per user per application in Google Apps?

Is it possible to obtain some kind of statistics on which user spent how much time on which application when they log into Google Apps?
Applications example would be gmail/sites/talk etc.,
You could try "Analytics for Google Apps" to analyze traffic limited to your sites, documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
Afaik, it's not possible to monitor gmail and gtalk.
You cannot measure how much time each user spends on each google app. However you can run domain usage reports. there is an API for reports (https://developers.google.com/admin-sdk/reports/v1/get-start/getting-started) and there are also many built-in reports in the google apps console (https://admin.google.com).
