How to host a static website with authentication? [duplicate] - html

Is it possible to use a custom authentication strategy, and Firebase hosting? Due to the lack of server-side code support with the Hosting plan, it doesn't seem likely, or am I missing something?

Firebase Hosting is a way to serve static assets to web visitors. It cannot run your custom code on Firebase's servers.
So the answer is indeed: no, you cannot use Firebase Hosting to mint custom JWT tokens on the Firebase servers.

Deploy Angular Backend API on Azure

I have made a backend API that connects to the sql that is also hosted on my azure account, however im not sure how to deploy this api on azure and make it available on there so that i can deploy my angular app to connect to this url instead of localhost.
Do you guys know of any tutorials or advice on how to deploy a backend typescript based api on to azure
thanks
There's a new service in Azure that sounds like it fits your needs perfectly: Azure Static Web Apps.
You can find a tutorial in the documentation: Quickstart: Building your first static web app.
Azure Static Web Apps is a service that automatically builds and deploys full stack web apps to Azure from a GitHub repository.
and
What you can do with Static Web Apps
Build modern JavaScript applications with frameworks and libraries like Angular, React, Svelte, Vue with an Azure Functions back-end.
Publish static sites with frameworks like Gatsby, Hugo, VuePress.
Deploy web applications with frameworks like Next.js and Nuxt.js.
Source: What is Azure Static Web Apps Preview?
EDIT:
In short, this service enables you to build a frontend using libraries like Angular, Vue and React, and also provides a way to build and deploy an API using JavaScript or TypeScript Azure Functions. You could, of course, do this manually, but if there's an integrated service for it...
As posted in the comments: I do not mean Static website hosting in Azure Storage, although that could work perfectly fine although it doesn't provide a solution for the API.

how to implement sso for openshift

I'd like to implement kind of SSO for openshift, what I mean: from my webapp a user can open openshift console in a new window without giving his credentials. I've configured Basic Authentication Remote and it's working, can open new window and post username/password but it's looks that openshift is protected with crsf token. Thus not sure if it's possible at all. It seems that developing custom identity provider is not supported either. Any idea ?
PS I'm aware of Request Header Identity Provider but that solution requires my webapp to provide idp functionality (not even sure if it's feasible), also apache (we use nginx), a lot of issues for dev to install it all on a single computer due to port conflicts, valid ssl etc etc
Best option will be to use oauth proxy. See if this helps in your case.
https://github.com/openshift/oauth-proxy
Finally I've implemented SSO using js postMessage to send user/token data and Basic Authentication Remote.

Web Development, Domain and Site Hosting

I'm not 100% sure if I'm on the correct section but i'll transfer the post once I know where it's supposed to be but I am looking for advice regarding web development, setting up a domain and hosting it.
I'm currently working on a personal project using Cloud9. Which is an online development environment where I can develop and host. The reason why I chose this is because it has MySQL usability as I retrieve and store data on the project I am working on.
I am now at the point where I want to get a domain and host a site to transfer my project over to a live website with my own domain which also has SQL/MySQL usability.
Any advice or where would be the best place to look up on methods of pursuing this?
Edit: I develop using PHP and JavaScript with MySQL
To start I would suggest heroku, they have a free option and some nice guides, depending on which server side language you use . This way you can get used to hosting some apps and doing deployments, seeing logs etc.
The database doesn't have to be on the same hosting necessarily, you can use mongolab for example.
For domain names it's a different thing, you will have to use the likes of godaddy
Why not setup your own VPS (Virtual Private Server)? There are many providers..
Design the software application with portability and avoid vendor lock-in to cloud services. For file transfer, there are FTP/FXP, zip/gzip, & version control standards like Git, CVS, SVN, etc. Use phpMyAdmin for the database export & import process to change web hosts. Otherwise, build a staging subdomain or a local development environment with copies of the original web app & use those to transfer files+DB to a new host for production.

Connect Xamarin.forms with MySQL

I know about xamarin connection with SQLite but it is locally
I need to connect my remotely MySQL database with xamarin.forms (I know about the security issue of this without using web services layer, but i will only use it for my own work)
This plugin is for xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android
I cannot add it using dependency service because i cannot add this component to the shared project
So is there any example of connecting MySQL database with xamarin.forms
You can't add references to your shared library. Shared libraries act like a list of files that are directly included in the project. The advantage of shared projects is just, that you do not have to maintain these included files for each project that uses code of the contained files. See the Xamarin documentation for further explanation.
What you have to do, if you want to consume a 3rd party libray within a shared library: Add the library to each project that uses the shared library (e.g. your iOS and Android project)
2ct to the mentioned security issue
You are right about the security issue. That's why I'd advice against, using mysql directly from your app. (I'll explain it for other readers that aren't aware of this problem and stumble over this question)
You should tunnel it through HTTPS because:
Some networks just block certain ports (HTTP and HTTPS are usually not blocked)
You publish your credentials with your app either statically or dynamically, but the credentials to your database are interceptable either way. You should authenticate a user and not an app. So there should be some kind of authentication / authorization that is revokeable. There was a nice talk from Kerry Lothrop on the Xamarin Evolve 2016 on this topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLFtQHNxGaI

How can I deploy an HTML5 web application in Google Cloud platform?

I am working on an HTML5 web application, which I need to host in Google cloud platform.
How can I deploy the web application, which is based on HTML5/CSS3, jQuery to Google Cloud platform/App Engine?
Clarification:
My web application is build using HTML5/CSS3 with javascript to process data. I am using Visual Studio IDE for development of the same. As per my understanding, apart from the supported languages like java, Python, etc, we can deploy html5 web application to Google cloud platform. How can I package my HTML5 application, which is not using any specific language and deploy to App Engine?
Thanks
Ambily
You can deploy to a bucket directly:
The Website Configuration feature enables you to configure a Google
Cloud Storage bucket to simulate the behavior of a static website. You
can define main pages or directory indices (for example, index.html)
for buckets and "directories". Also, you can define a custom error
page in case a requested resource does not exist.
No programming language at all required :)
Google Cloud Storage
You need a account with Google Cloud Platform to start with. Assuming you have that.
Go to cloud console where you find all the admin menus for creating instances.
You need to create a compute engine instance, if you want to create full fledged website.
Steps to follow:
Create a instance (linux, 10GB disk, 1.7GB memmory) and configure it for all required components.
After this you can move your files to your website folder usually "htdocs"
You will be assigned with an empirical IP address.
Using zone management tools you can add a new domain. All that using the admin panel, no complexity involved.
You may required to configure proxy, if you need access to other machines.
