Bootstrap 4 issue with div content of different sizes - html

I am stuck with the following issue, as per the below script, where the data in a div is not always the same size, which results in the div NOT taking the entire horizontal space allocated by the use of the col-6 class, from one row to the next:
<div class="card-body " >
<div class="row comments_container" id="comments_container">
<?php foreach ($comments AS $comment){?>
<div class="callout <?php echo $comment['comment_callout'];?>">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-3"><?php echo '<span class="text-bold">De: </span>'.$comment['comment_author'];?></div>
<div class="offset-6 col-3">Envoyé le: <?php echo $comment['comment_date'];?></div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="offset-3 col-6 border-primary border-left">
<?php
if (!empty($comment['comment_parent_author'])){echo 'En réponse à '.$comment['comment_author'].'.<br/>';}
echo '<span class="text-xs">'.$comment['comment_content'].'</span>';
?>
</div>
<div class="col-3"></div>
</div>
<div class="row justify-content-center border-top mt-2 pt-2 border-thick border-primary w-100">
<div class="col-1">Approuver</div>
<div class="col-1">Répondre</div>
<div class="col-1">Indésirable</div>
<div class="col-1">Corbeille</div>
</div>
</div>
<?php } ?>
</div>
</div>
As you can see also from the below adjoined screenshot, when the $comment['comment_content'] data is not the same size, or smaller, it results in the div containing the smallest data not 'respecting' the col-6 class, eg. only taking the smallest data field's size

Your classes are not formatted very well try this :
<link href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.0/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div class="container card-body">
<div class="row comments_container" id="comments_container">
<div class="col-3"><span class="text-bold">De:John john</span></div>
<div class="offset-6 col-3">Envoyé le : 31 mai 2020 </div>
</div>
<div class="offset-3 col-6 border-primary border-left">
<span class="text-xs">Commentaire</span>
</div>
<div class="row justify-content-center border-top mt-2 pt-2 border-thick border-primary w-100">
<div class="p-1">Approuver</div>
<div class="p-1">Répondre</div>
<div class="p-1">Indésirable</div>
<div class="p-1">Corbeille</div>
</div>
</div>

Bootstrap make neighboring columns overlap

Currently the div columns are situated as shown in the image beneath:
How can I change my bootstrap columns so that the first div actually overlaps the second (desired output shown in screenshot)
I know a resolution to this can be done purely through bootstrap and would greatly appreciate any help with this. I have tried changing the col-lg-x sizes, however, this only changes the width of the columns. I am also unable to find a solution to this online.
While it’s a little difficult to understand what you’re trying to do without an operational version of your code (as #Grumpy was asking), but if all you need is to have part of your left-side column overlap part of your right-side column, then you can do that by using absolution positioning on the left-side column and offsetting the right-side column.
I setup a quick example using some different column sizes for different widths
<link href="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap#4.6.0/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.5.1.slim.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap#4.6.0/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>
<div class="container-lg">
<div class="row position-relative vh-100">
<div class="col-9 col-sm-8 col-md-7 position-absolute vh-100" style="background-color: rgba(255, 128, 149, 0.5); z-index: 1;">
<p class="Left-right">Left Text</p>
</div>
<div class="col-4 col-sm-5 col-md-6 offset-8 offset-sm-7 offset-md-6 bg-primary vh-100">
<p class="text-right">Right Text</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
The left-side background-color is setup with an alpha of 50% so you can see the overlap area.
You didn't say which version of Bootstrap you're using, so I used Bootstrap 4.

how to make the card add to the side, when I do foreach on php?

Card looks like this. i just want it to display to the side
Im trying to show data from my database in PHP codeigniter. the data shows fine. but the problem is that the card is going down istead to right. you can look at the image above.
i just want to make the card go to the right when i do foreach. and go down after 4/5 card.
i ve tried to move the foreach code but it looks just like that.
im using bootsrap 4
here's the code
<div class="row">
<div class="container">
<div class="card-body">
<?php
foreach ($user as $u) {?>
<div class="col-md-2 mt-4">
<div class="card mt-3" style="width:15rem;">
<img src="<?=base_url() . 'assets/img/' . $u->gambar_game;?>"
class="card-img-top img-responsive" alt="...">
<h5 class="card-title font-weight-bold "><?php echo $u->nama_game; ?></h5>
<p class="card-text"><?=$u->deskripsi_game;?></p>
<a href="<?=base_url() . 'assets/games/' . $u->link_game;?>"
class="btn btn-primary btn-block">Mainkan Game</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<?php }?>
</div>
</div>
you are repeating currently the whole container inside the row, but u want to repeat the cols inside the container.
Try this (loop over the col-md-2):
<div class="row">
<div class="container">
<div class="card-body">
<?php
foreach ($user as $u) {?>
<div class="col-md-2 mt-4">
<div class="card mt-3" style="width:15rem;">
<img src="<?=base_url() . 'assets/img/' . $u->gambar_game;?>"
class="card-img-top img-responsive" alt="...">
<h5 class="card-title font-weight-bold "><?php echo $u->nama_game; ?></h5>
<p class="card-text"><?=$u->deskripsi_game;?></p>
<a href="<?=base_url() . 'assets/games/' . $u->link_game;?>"
class="btn btn-primary btn-block">Mainkan Game</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<?php }?>
</div>
</div>
</div>
EDIT:
Your HTML structure was a little mixed up.
Try this. col-md-3 places 4 cols inside of your row, or col-md-2if you want 6 cols inside of your row. A row is max 12 cols bootstrap grid documentation
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<?php foreach ($user as $u) {?>
<!-- col-md-2 -->
<div class="col-md-4 mt-4">
<div class="card">
<div class="card-body">
<img src="<?=base_url() . 'assets/img/' . $u->gambar_game;?>"class="card-img-top img-responsive" alt="...">
<h5 class="card-title font-weight-bold "><?php echo $u->nama_game; ?></h5>
<p class="card-text"><?=$u->deskripsi_game;?></p>
Mainkan Game
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- col-md-2 end -->
<?php }?>
</div>
</div>

Multiple lists with drag & drop within group

I have two divs in a parent component. And there are cards (components rendered in divs) in each of the above two divs. Each card has got a list of employees (also divs) from which I want to drag any across other cards within their own parent div.
Below image shows how my page look like:
I want the page to be able to drag employees within Pickup or Drop. For eg: move Employee1 from {Place1 To Place2} to {Place3 To Place2} I have used cdkDropList/cdkDrag, however I could not drag anything at all.
Below is my html for parent component with the Pickup & Drop divs:
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<h5 class="bg-primary text-white">Pickup</h5>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Pickup DIV -->
<div class="row" cdkDropListGroup>
<div class="col col-md-4" *ngFor="let item of pickupCabs" cdkDropList [cdkDropListData]="item.AssignedEmployees"
(cdkDropListDropped)="onDrop($event)">
<app-admin-special-request-allocation-card [allocatedCab]="item"
(childevent)="onSpecialRequestReallocation($event)" cdkDrag>
</app-admin-special-request-allocation-card>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<h5 class="bg-primary text-white">Drop</h5>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Drop DIV -->
<div class="row" cdkDropListGroup>
<div class="col col-md-4" *ngFor="let item of dropCabs" cdkDropList [cdkDropListData]="item.AssignedEmployees"
(cdkDropListDropped)="onDrop($event)">
<app-admin-special-request-allocation-card [allocatedCab]="item"
(childevent)="onSpecialRequestReallocation($event)" cdkDrag>
</app-admin-special-request-allocation-card>
</div>
</div>
Below is my html for the individual cards/routes (app-admin-special-request-allocation-card.component.html)
<div class="card bg-light shadow p-3 mb-4 bg-white corners mt-2 mb-2">
<div class="card-body text-center">
<div [class.alert-danger]="!isAllocatedSuccess" [class.alert-success]="isAllocatedSuccess" class="alert"
*ngIf="isAllocated">{{message}}</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col text-right">
<span><b>{{allocatedCab.AllocationStatusText}}</b></span>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-3">
<i class='fas fa-{{allocatedCab.CabType|lowercase}}' style='font-size:30px;'></i>
<br>
<b>{{allocatedCab.Occupance}}/{{allocatedCab.Capacity}}</b>
<p><b><span>{{allocatedCab.RouteType}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<div class="row">
<p><b><span>{{allocatedCab.PickupPoint}} To {{allocatedCab.DropPoint}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<div class="row">
<p style="text-align: left"><b><span>{{allocatedCab.VendorName}} -
{{allocatedCab.CabName}} - {{allocatedCab.RegNo}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<!-- employee list -->
<div class="row" *ngFor="let employee of allocatedCab.AssignedEmployees">
<p style="text-align: left"><span class="fa fa-user"></span>
<a href="./admin#" (click)="open(content,allocatedCab,employee)">
{{employee.FirstName}} {{employee.LastName}} -
<small> {{employee.PickupDate | date: "hh:mm a"}} </small>
</a>
<i style="color:red; cursor: pointer;" class="fa fa-remove"
(click)="openConfirmation(content1, employee)"></i></p>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-6 pt-2 text-left ">
<span>{{allocatedCab.PickupDate | date: "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm a"}}</span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I think there is a mistake in your code. The cdkDropList attribute is placed in the wrong div. And the cdkDrag attribute should be given to the exact div which can be draggable. So only give cdkDropListGroup attribute in parent div and place cdkDropList attribute inside the card component. ie.
You don't need cdkDropList attribute and the following code in that element in your parent div (Pickup and Drop).
Instead, add it in app-admin-special-request-allocation-card.component.html to a new wrapping div over the employee list div.
Add the cdkDrag attribute to exact div in which employee name is rendered.
try the below code.
Parent Component
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<h5 class="bg-primary text-white">Pickup</h5>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row" cdkDropListGroup>
<!-- remove the 'cdkDropList' attribute and [cdkDropListData]=" from below div -->
<div class="col col-md-4" *ngFor="let item of pickupCabs">
<app-admin-special-request-allocation-card [allocatedCab]="item" (childevent)="onSpecialRequestReallocation($event)">
</app-admin-special-request-allocation-card>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<h5 class="bg-primary text-white">Drop</h5>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row" cdkDropListGroup>
<!-- remove the 'cdkDropList' attribute and [cdkDropListData]=" from below div -->
<div class="col col-md-4" *ngFor="let item of dropCabs">
<app-admin-special-request-allocation-card [allocatedCab]="item" (childevent)="onSpecialRequestReallocation($event)">
</app-admin-special-request-allocation-card>
</div>
</div>
Card Component
<div class="card bg-light shadow p-3 mb-4 bg-white corners mt-2 mb-2">
<div class="card-body text-center">
<div [class.alert-danger]="!isAllocatedSuccess" [class.alert-success]="isAllocatedSuccess" class="alert" *ngIf="isAllocated" >{{message}}</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col text-right" >
<span><b>{{allocatedCab.AllocationStatusText}}</b></span>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-3">
<i class='fas fa-{{allocatedCab.CabType|lowercase}}' style='font-size:30px;'></i>
<br>
<b>{{allocatedCab.Occupance}}/{{allocatedCab.Capacity}}</b>
<p><b><span>{{allocatedCab.RouteType}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<!-- Add the cdkDropList attribute and drop list data here -->>
<div class="col-md-9 border-bottom" cdkDropList [cdkDropListData]="allocatedCab.AssignedEmployees" (cdkDropListDropped)="drop($event)">
<div class="row">
<p><b><span>{{allocatedCab.PickupPoint}} To {{allocatedCab.DropPoint}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<div class="row">
<p style="text-align: left"><b><span>{{allocatedCab.VendorName}} - {{allocatedCab.CabName}} - {{allocatedCab.RegNo}}</span></b></p>
</div>
<!-- Add cdkDrag attribute here -->>
<div class="row" *ngFor="let employee of allocatedCab.AssignedEmployees" cdkDrag>
<p style="text-align: left"><span class="fa fa-user"></span>
<a href="./admin#" (click)="open(content,allocatedCab,employee)">
{{employee.FirstName}} {{employee.LastName}} -
<small> {{employee.PickupDate | date: "hh:mm a"}} </small>
</a>
<i style="color:red; cursor: pointer;" class="fa fa-remove" (click)="openConfirmation(content1, employee)"></i></p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-6 pt-2 text-left ">
<span>{{allocatedCab.PickupDate | date: "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm a"}}</span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
It is not mandatory to give cdkDropListGroup and cdkDropList in the same component. When the above code is rendered in the browser, the structure of the cdkDropListGroup and cdkDropList will be set as parent and child relation. So I hope, you may get what you require.

How to fix problem with bootstrap 4 grid system?

I am facing a problem with the Bootstrap-4 grid system. There are 12 columns, and whenever I use less than 12 columns, the rows are automatically centered. I want left alignment, how can this be fixed?
A snippet of my code:
<div class="row justify-content-start con-flex">
<?php foreach($books as $book):?>
<div class="col-lg-2 col-md-3 col-sm-4 col-xs-6">
<div id="single-book">
<div id="book-image">
<?php print '<img src = "'.strip_tags($book->book_image).'" alt = "">';?>
<div id="addto-cart"><i class="fas fa-shopping-cart"></i> Add to cart</div>
</div>
<div class="book-text">
<div id="book-name"><?= substr(htmlentities($book->book_name),0,21) ?></div>
<div id="author">By <i><?= htmlentities($book->author) ?></i></div>
<div id="price"><?= htmlentities($book->price) ?>.TK</div>
<div id="book-details">
<?php print 'View details'; ?>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<?php endforeach;?>
</div>
image of code:
enter image description here
According to Bootstrap doc that should solve your problem
<div class="container">
<div class="row justify-content-start">
<div class="col-4">
content here...
</div>
<div class="col-4">
content here...
</div>
</div>
</div>
The code you have should be working fine, columns will be aligned left by default; maybe what you are seeing is the result of using .container instead of .container-fluid which uses the full width of the viewport. It's either this or you might have some custom CSS that's affecting the layout of the columns
<link href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div class="container">
<div class="row ">
<div class="col-4 col-md-4 border">content here...</div>
<div class="col-4 col-md-4 border">content here...</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="container-fluid">
<div class="row ">
<div class="col-4 col-md-4 border">content here...</div>
<div class="col-4 col-md-4 border">content here...</div>
</div>
</div>
This problem was for my other base CSS.
Instead of:
*{
margin: 0 auto;
}
For this margin: 0 auto; in my main style.css file My bootstrap's grids were not working properly. Now I remove this margin: 0 auto from *.
Now
I write
* {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
Now my bootstrap grids are working properly

Cards Bootstrap 4 in one line

I'm trying to make my cards (panels) set next to each other and I'm using the templates at mdbootstrap.com.
My code:
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<div class="card mdb-color lighten-2 text-center z-depth-2">
<div class="card-body">
<p class="white-text mb-0"> <?php echo convertCurrency("1.00", "POUND", "DOLLAR");
?>.</p>
</div>
</div>
<Br>
<div class="card mdb-color lighten-2 text-center z-depth-2">
<div class="card-body">
<p class="white-text mb-0">btc<i class="fa fa-bitcoin" aria-hidden="true">
</i> = <?php echo $info['rate'];
?></p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I tried to give it a class of d-inline but it's not working...
The cards I'm using https://mdbootstrap.com/components/panels/
Just in case someone is looking at this, an easy way to do it is to use the card-deck class. So, for example:
<div class=card-deck>
<!-- First Card -->
<div class="card">
<div class="card-title">Title here</div>
<div class="card-body">Body here</div>
</div>
<!-- Second Card -->
<div class="card">
<div class="card-title">Title here</div>
<div class="card-body">Body here</div>
</div>
</div>
Just remember that all the cards go in the card-deck div. A drawback of this is if you have lets say 6 cards, it'll put all of the cards on the same line instead of breaking them up in multiple lines. Whenever I want cards to be on multiple lines I just use another card-deck. Hope this helps someone, cheers.
One way of doing what you want is to put both cards in two separate columns, each, i.e each box card should be inside a div with class col-md-6.
The following code shows two cards, side by side in desktop browser window size.
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-6">
<div class="card mdb-color lighten-2 text-center z-depth-2">
<div class="card-body">
<p class="white-text mb-0">واحد جنيه سوداني = <?php echo convertCurrency("1.00", "SDG", "USD")." دولار امريكي";?>.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-md-6">
<div class="card mdb-color lighten-2 text-center z-depth-2">
<div class="card-body">
<p class="white-text mb-0">بتكوين <i class="fa fa-bitcoin" aria-hidden="true"></i> = <?php echo $info['rate']." جنيه سوداني";?></p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
