Closed 2 years ago.
I am using Bootstrap to create a Navbar. When I click on the dropdown the items in the dropdown are placed outside of the window. but they increase the window. I put ml-auto in to show the items on the right side.

You need to add dropdown-menu-right to your dropdown-menu, example here
So this
<div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
Would become this
<div class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
edit
#flakerimi posted this just before me, but both are the same FYI.

Use dropdown-menu-right in
<div class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
Here is the fiddle
https://jsfiddle.net/9hL6soq2/

Wrap <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarSupportedContent"> with a <div class="container"> and close it after <div class="collapse"> ends.
or
You can add dropdown-menu-right class to the div with class dropdown-menu.

Bootstrap submenu not working when linked externally

I have a bootstrap 4.3.1 navbar with a submenu and it works fine when I include it in the navbar. However, according to the documentation, I should be able to link it externally. When I do that, the general toggle button works, but the submenu no longer works. Any ideas why this is happening?
Here's my navbar:

I'm trying to move the entire #navbarCollapse div into a different page and still have the submenu function properly.

Bootstrap Navbar Hamburger Menu Not Working Properly

I'm trying to create a navigation bar with Bootstrap. I have imported the skeleton from the Bootstrap official website with all the necessary components, however, the hamburger menu doesn't seem to open up properly.
Navigation bar has also been imported directly from Bootstrap website as well.
I've been searching for the solution for long period of time, but cannot seem to find the solution.

I copied and pasted this straight from the bootstrap website. I am new to html and bootstrap. Pls help. I think if u copy paste this code to a html file, and then open it in a small browser window and press the toggle button, u will see what i mean.
This is because your bootstrap's js has 3.4.1 and css has 4.0.0. Please add same versions.

A few things:
You're missing some necessities. Move the <nav> into the <body> (not in the <head>). You then need these added right before the </body>:

Why is Navbar Collapse button always showing on my webpage?

<nav class="navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-expand-md sticky-top">
<div class="container-fluid">
<a class="navbar-brand" href="index.html">Website </a>
<button class="navbar-toggle collapsed " data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarNavDropdown" aria-expanded="false">
<i class="fa fa-bars"></i>
</button>

</li>
<li class="nav-item">
<a class="nav-link" href="link2.html"> Link2</a>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</nav>
The button which is supposed to show up only when window is resized to small size, is always showing on the right of the Website name. It is looking ugly in fullscreen, that is, while viewing in computer mode. I want to remove it from showing in high resolution devices. Tell me where am I making mistake.
Because the correct class name for the Bootstrap 4 Navbar is navbar-toggler, not navbar-toggle.
<nav class="navbar navbar-light navbar-expand-lg navbar-expand-md sticky-top">
<div class="container-fluid">

Only use class navbar-expand-sm if you want the icon to show up only on narrow viewports. Find an overview in the documentation. Also you use a wrong class for the hamburger icon: class="navbar-toggler", like
Zim already said.
