Changing the space between next and back buttons - html

I'm using The Point theme and I'm trying to move the previous page button to appear to the left side, I looked at the Styles.css file and figured how to make the next page in the right side but I can't figure out how to expand the space between the two buttons and make the previous page button in the left side, they are just stacked together...
Here is a screenshot of it:
https://imgur.com/z9qiTNG
and here is the pagination code from the styles.css file :
/* Pagination */
nav.posts-navigation { clear: both }
.pagination {
clear: both;
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
margin: 5px auto;
text-align: center;
font-size: 18px;
}
.single .pagination {
border: 0;
box-shadow: none;
-moz-box-shadow: none;
-webkit-box-shadow: none;
margin-top: 0;
padding: 3% 0;
width: 100%;
text-align: right;
}
.pagination ul {
list-style: none;
margin: 0;
display: inline-block;
}
.pagination ul li {
display: inline-block;
margin-bottom: 5px;
}
.pagination .current, .pagination .dots, .pagination a:hover {
color: #fff;
margin: 0 1px 0 0;
display: inline-block;
line-height: 1;
text-decoration: none;
padding: 10px 13px;
background: #2a2a2a;
font-weight: bold;
margin-bottom: 10px;
}
.single .pagination .current {
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
background: transparent;
}
.single .pagination a .currenttext {
padding: 0;
background: transparent;
color: #FFF;
margin-right: 0;
margin-bottom: 0;
}
.single .pagination a:hover .currenttext { color: #fff }
.pagination a {
background: #38B7EE;
margin: 0 1px 0 0;
display: inline-block;
line-height: 1;
text-decoration: none;
color: #fff;
padding: 10px 13px;
transition: all 0.25s linear;
font-weight: bold;
margin-bottom: 10px;
}
.pagination ul li:last-child a { margin-right: 0 }
.pagination a:hover { color: #fff }
.pagination i.icon-left { margin-right: 7px }
.pagination i.icon-right { margin-right: 7px }
.top {
float: right;
position: absolute;
left: 50%;
top: -18px;
width: 52px;
height: 52px;
margin-left: -26px;
background: #eee;
border-top: 1px solid #ddd;
border-radius: 30px;
-webkit-border-radius: 30px;
-moz-border-radius: 30px;
z-index: 100;
}
.pnavigation2 {
display: block;
width: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 15px 0;
float: left;
margin-top: 20px;
}
.pagination .nav-previous { float: left }
.pagination .nav-next { float: right }
.pagination .nav-previous a, .pagination .nav-next a { color: #fff!important }
.pagination .nav-previous a:hover, .pagination .nav-next a:hover { background-color: #222 }
.single .currenttext { margin-bottom: 0 }
.pagination .current .currenttext { margin-bottom: 10px }

One way to do this is to use Flexbox and justify-content: space-between. Each link button (flex children), becomes pinned to either corner of the parent element.
.pagination {
display: flex;
justify-content: space-between;
}
.btn {
background-color: #35bbee;
padding: 10px 15px;
color: white;
text-decoration: none;
}
<div class="pagination">
<a class="btn btn-prev" href="#">Previous Page</a>
<a class="btn btn-next" href="#">Next Pages</a>
</div>

My dropdown menu is not showing upon hover

I'm having trouble making a dropdown menu. My dropdown menu just won't show upon hover, but if I change my display from none to block in .submenu ul li, the dropdown is in the right place.
Can anyone please help me?

Issue
In your CSS file, you have only hidden the li elements in your submenu:
.submenu ul li {
display: none;
background: #34495e;
border-radius: 6px;
padding: 0 2px;
text-align: center;
opacity: 0.9;
transition: .5s ease-in;
}
But here, you're trying to display the .submenu class, rather than the lis inside. In addition, the :hover selector is not attached to the li
.main-nav li :hover .submenu {
display: block;
}
Fix
To fix this we can change the above selector to the below, so that it is now un-hiding the submenu's lis, when you hover over the parent li (Services button)
.main-nav li:hover .submenu li {
display: block;
}

navigation drop down displays too far left

I have been working on fixing this but cannot figure out what I am missing. I would like for drop down list to show right below its parent. The list shows but all go to far left and forces the remaining nav items to drop down to another line. i have included a snippet for what is currently looks like and an image of what I want it to look like. Also, I have been trying to figure out how to add down fa fa-caret to nav items with drop down list. Please help!

You can achieve this by first making the div.list element into an absolute positioned. The 'display:block' property was pushing all the other content down to the next row because the block element was taking up space.
As you see now the list is no longer pushing the content down but now it is not aligned to the correct nav item. We are also going to add a left:0 so that the div.list is to the left of the parent property.
Now the parent property needs a position of relative so that the left:0 on the child element is being positioned relative to the parent element.
.dropdown:hover .list {
display: block;
position: absolute;
left: 0;
}
.navbar li {
border-left: solid 2px #000000;
display: inline;
list-style-type: none;
width: 800px;
padding: 0;
position: relative;
}
The problem with your CSS code is, you missed to add position: relative and position: absolute to the .dropdown and .list selectors, which is compulsory to create dropdown. Try this code.
.navbar {
background: linear-gradient(#9E0A0C, #EBEBEB);
padding: 10px;
border-top: solid 1px #000000;
}
.navbar a {
text-decoration: none;

css - textbox filling to width, right justify buttons, etc

In some ways, I'm still pretty new to CSS and don't "get" how things are done (is seems convoluted, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to figure things out) - so I am hoping someone here can help me. I'll post the relevant code. I am a programmer - but can't seem to figure out how to do what I want. (BTW - are there any good tools for 'visually' editing CSS? I'm doing this purely by code).
a) I need an HTML text box to expand/contract as the browser window expands/contracts, with a 'search' image icon to the right of it.
b) I need some signup/login buttons right justified
c) I need the logo/text left justified.
So basically the flow is:
[#1 logo] [#2 menu items ] [#3 search-bar with icon] [#4 login/signup buttons]
And if the browser window expands, then #3 expands to fill in the space.
i.e.,
small desktop
[#1][#2][#3][#4]
big desktop
[#1][#2][<#3-------------------------->][#4]
ideally, I'd also like to figure out on mobile (tiny desktop) how to make it:
[#1][#4]
[#3---->]
This is the HTML I have (with other stuff removed to make it simple)

any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like you will need judicious use of media queries:
#media screen and (min-width: 480px) {
body {
background-color: lightgreen;
}
}
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_mediaquery.asp
You've already indicated the three device sizes you need media queries for:
small desktop
[#1][#2][#3][#4]
big desktop
[#1][#2][<#3-------------------------->][#4]
mobile
[#1][#4]
[#3---->]
Now you just need to create media queries for those three sizes and set the CSS accordingly.
Mobile: Hide #2. Maybe play with floats to get #3 to display below the other two.
Big Desktop: Change #3 width (percentage based most likely)
Small Desktop: #1, #2, #3, #4 should all have the same width (percentage based most likely)
You can then use the width property to adjust the size of buttons on these different media widths:
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_dim_width.asp

CSS hold parent horizontal menu background

I am designing simple horizontal menu with html/css, see jsfiddle.net. The problem is that after hovering on li childrens i can not hold parent li background. See print screens below:
in this state, after hover on menu childrens, such as Settings or Applications, i can't hold background of parent block, such as Options :
You had added :hover effect for a tag and when you leave the a tag :hover is lost you can just add :hover to li tag and the :hover by using this you will not loose the :hover effect of the parent

Why am I missing a section?

So here's what I should be getting
But this is what I'm getting
As you can see the yellow section is missing. Here's my working example http://jsfiddle.net/Qk543/ but for some weird reason I cannot replicate it. Here's my code for the defective page.

Any ideas?
You're using floats, so there's a good chance your last element is a pixel or so too wide for the container it's in and it's floating to the next line.
Try changing the width to 24% on each element and you'll probably see all four.
If you don't want to play with the width, try adding this to your css:
* {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
That includes any padding/margin in the width so that 25% width will be the true width instead of 25% plus padding/margin.
