Frame size issue in metaphone3 cluster and edit - csv

I am using OpenRefine to clean text from a CSV file. I've been working on the same project for several weeks, and it was working fine until this week.
I am trying to use the 'Cluster and Edit' function from the 'Edit cells' menu. When I use the 'fingerprint' and 'ngram fingerprint' keying function, the frame that opens up inside the browser window is sized appropriately, and I have access to all the buttons and selection menus. However, when I try to use the 'metaphone3' keying function, the frame that opens up is way wider than the browser window, the sliding selection boxes that usually appear in the right side of the frame are not visible, and the buttons across the bottom of the frame ('Select All', 'Unselect All', etc.) are not available. I'd really like to be able to use this keying function option again. Does anyone know what's going on, or how I might be able to fix it.
I am using the OpenRefine 3.3 beta, although a similar issue was happening earlier this week with all keying function options in 3.2 (all were working fine in 3.2 as recently as Friday, 10/25/2019). I am using Firefox, although the same issue happens in Internet Explorer. The system OS is Windows 10 Enterprise.
Thanks in advance!

Html input of type "file" freeze the browser sometimes

i'm struggling with the classic HTML input of type file. I was using it on my angular application and i had freeze sometimes, the whole browser became unresponsive, and the only thing that works is the scroll.
You can't click any buttons, select any text or even change tab on the browser for about 5 seconds. I tried a lot of different file type and sizes and it doesn't change any of this, it even freeze sometimes when i don't select any file in the explorer and i click the close button directly.
So I thought it was my implementation that was bad and i went to the Mozilla developper website where you have an example and I have exactly the same behaviour. I also tried to take only the HTML from the Mozilla website and put it alone on a .html file and again, same behaviour.
This does not occur 100% of the time, but I would argue that on my end it does it about 60/70 % of the times.
I tried it on chrome and Firefox (both up to date), on multiple computer (all running Windows though) and i have the same behaviour on all of them.
I don't have any error or anyting in the consoles.
I don't know what to do with this, i'm pretty sure it can't be the file's input on the whole web that are bugged, but i tried a lot of various things with always the same results. Should i report it somewhere? ( if so, where? ) Or what would you suggest to do to investigate this further?
I couldn't find anyone discussing this issue on the internet apart for this thread that had no solution, they also say in this thread that the bug is not reproducible in Edge, but i just tried and it does the same thing.
Thanks for reading me and for any help about this.
Chrome freezes for few seconds when after any use of file field.
It was because I had a shortcut in "Quick Access" menu in windows explorer. This shortcut has been linked with a folder shared by network. I've removed this shortcut and everything is good now.
Same here, I have a mapped network drive that is not responding, this make a 5 seconds delay. After unmapping the drive, no more delay. The delay is the same in firefox or chrome.
Same here, if you want to remove it, on Windows 10, click on the icon Quick access (blue star), then right click on the dead link appearing in the "Frequent folders" panel on the right panel and choose "Unpin/Remove from Quick access". There should be no error message.

Select a part of the property in chrome inspactor css panel

In one of my PCs when I use inspect tool in chrome, I can't select some part of a property or a value, so I have to retype all the value again. As many times as I click on the selected text, the caret doesn't go to the place I need and the selected text doesn't deselect.
the following picture shows what I want and what happens.
There is no problem in another PC.
Both are windows 10 64bit and google chrome 62.
Try holding shift or control while clicking. Haven't tried it, but it may work. My guess is that it's simply a UX workflow that DevTools doesn't handle well.

Cursor not showing in Device Mode (Google Chrome)

So I'm trying to develop a webapplication and I'm trying to check it out on mobile.
I'm currently using Cordova and JQuery Mobile together with ripple.js to view my application in my browser.
The first issue (as far as I know) is that ripple.js will work best in Google Chrome, so this is my only test platform.
The second issue is that when I toggle Device Mode on, it doesn't show me the black dot (cursor) when I enter the rendered version.
I'll explain my situation or a scenario:
As an example I'll go to http://google.com
I press F12 to enter developer mode
I click the Toggle Device Mode button
I will see my cursor, until I enter the generated mobile canvas. While I would normally see a black transparant dot, I now see nothing.
I can however click and drag like I would normally do, but I can't see what I'm doing.
The things I already tried:
Reset all the flags back to default
Reset all developer tool settings to default
(edit) Installed a previous version of Chrome AND Chromium
So question is, how do I get my cursor back?
Extra: I'm using version 49.0.2623.87 m, but that's not related since my co-worker, has the same version and he sees the cursor.
(edit) currently I'm using the mouse option where I press Ctrl to see the circle which indicates where my cursor is, but this really has to be a temp solution.
(edit) I fixed it by doing a combination of things. So I'm not sure which exact thing fixed it. I removed a few programs that I installed after it still worked. I uninstalled about 4 of them. Also I did an update of my graphics card and then did a reboot. So it could be either the graphics card update, the software uninstall and/or the reboot.
I had the same issue. (note this question might be a duplicate of this one)
Following the advice on the Chrome forum here I changed the Quantization Range in my Intel HD Graphics Control Panel from "Default Range" to "Full Range". The touch pointer (grey circle) appeared immediately.
If that doesn't help you may have to change refresh rate too. Changing from 59p Hz to 60p Hz or some other refresh rate might help.
This should also help.
Open the mouse control panel.
Select the Pointer Options tab in the Mouse Properties window.
Then enable Display pointer trails option.
In case you don't like or are getting annoyed, like me, due to the trailer. Move the slider to the Short position and the trailer becomes near to non-existent or invisible.
I fixed it myself, yet I'm not exactly sure how I did it. I edited my original post and added the solution in the last paragraph.
Had the same on my Asus laptop with Chrome 66
Resolution that worked for me
Graphics Control Panel > Display > General Settings > Scaling > Change to Scale full screen.
OFF your Asus Eye Care Switcher.
I am posting this as answer because above mentioned answer didn't work for me but I had this issue when I had a monitor attached to my laptop, for development work. I played around with my display settings and discovered that IF the scale on my second monitor did not match the scale on my laptop, the mobile development mode cursor would disappear. (windows 10)
If this is an issue for anyone just go into Display settings -> Display -> Scale and Layout --> make sure that both your laptop/desktop matches the display scale of your second monitor.
Hope this will help.

Ms Access pop-up forms off screen

I am currently working in MS access 2013, and having an issue with some forms that worked previously. I have gone back and edited them to have different functionality. I need the forms to be pop ups. Now, they work perfectly when they aren't pop-ups, but as soon as I change the forms to pop-ups the forms pop up off screen. I have no clue how to fix this.
Now the first thing I did was start from an old verison, and I was just going to remake the form; however, as soon as I change ONE thing from those old forms the form starts popping up off screen again.
Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?
If you have two monitors or if your application is created in a secondary monitor and used in a single monitor machine, this behavior is expected. As EvDev mentioned. Set the "auto center" = Yes and edit your application in the default monitor.
Set the Auto Center property of the form to True.

Freeze column headers in browser while scrolling

I am trying to freeze all column headers in a report when scrolling down. I have read numerous articles about how to go to Advanced Mode, select the header and set FixedData to True, KeepWithGroup to After, RepeatOnNewPage to True. That works when previewing a report, but it does not work in a browser. I have tried using IE 11, Chrome, and other browsers, but none of them fix the column headers while scrolling.
I have spent hours trying to get this to work and have read articles such as:
Freeze column header while scrolling
and
Freezing column headers while scrolling in SSRS, but none of them accomplish this in a browser.
I tried creating a simple table report from the report wizard and following these instructions, but it still does not work. This is very critical to get working in order to use SSRS. I am using SSRS 2012. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's crucial to select the correct "Static" member before setting those properties. For your scenario I think you want the Static member within the Row Groups list.
If there are several "Static" members, select them in turn and note where the selection box moves to in your tablix - this can help pick the right one - usually the last.
My favourite post on this is from Robert B:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertbruckner/archive/2008/10/13/repeat-header-and-visible-fixed-header-table.aspx
Good luck - this is still such an unbeleivable mess after 5 years and 3 releases ...
This is a crazy idea, but instead of using the Report Viewer, could you render the report to HTML and add it to a web page that has a CSS class that will change the header to position:fixed;?
It appears fixed headers simply do not work in the ASP.NET Report Viewer control. I have a simple aspx page with the ReportViewer control on it, testing it in IE 11. The fixed headers work in the Preview and Report Manager, but not the ASP.NET Report Viewer control.
Therefore, I decided to simply show my reports using the built-in Report Viewer instead. Fixed column headers work that way.
I just spent a couple of days investigating this exact issue. Worked in preview, didn’t when deployed. I had noticed my fixed columns stopped working a few years ago.
My break through was when I started testing using a fresh SSRS 2012 install the freezing rows and columns worked perfectly. By comparing the differences between that and my live system I found the issue was changes made to ReportingServices.js to fix blank reports showing in Chrome.
Forcing el.style.overflow = "visible" instead of its default of “auto” breaks the freezing in IE. Our web developer changed the if statement so it doesn’t do the replace for IE by checking a non IE function exists (window.addEventListener).
if (el && window.addEventListener)
el.style.overflow = "visible";
So the complete code added to a fresh ReportingServices.js is the following
function pageLoad() {
el = document.getElementById("ctl32_ctl09"),
//Fix Chrome invisible report
if (el && window.addEventListener)
el.style.overflow = "visible";
}
if (window.addEventListener) {
window.addEventListener('load', pageLoad, false);
} else {
window.attachEvent('onload', pageLoad);
}
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\js\ ReportingServices.js
I was able to get my column headings to freeze in IE 9. IE 11 was having issues. IE 11 also did not display vertical and horizontal scrollbars
The Solution (for me) was to put IE 11 to compatibility mode.
Instructions to use compatibility mode.
1) Right click the top of the window and then choose to show the "menu bar"
2) in the menu click tools
3) Click "Compatibility View" to add the current web url to the list of pages to show in the compatibility view, this list can be managed by rather clicking "Compatibility View settings"
Hope this helps.. I could not find this documented elsewhere.
