HTML not finding image - html

I am just getting started using HTML and I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle.
I am trying to create a basic webpage containing an image that is downloaded when clicked.
So far I have:
<a href="/images/selfie_img.jpg" download>
<img src="/images/selfie_img.jpg" alt="Selfie" style="width: 300px">
</a>
I expected this to display the image I want as it seems to my eye to be formatted exactly like all the examples I have seen. However, this only displays the alternative title, not the actual image.
I have checked the image path, and used different images to try and solve the problem. I am using VS code and the software can follow the image path to find the appropriate image, but when I load the program, the image is replaced by that annoying blue question mark. Using a URL as the image path seems to work but then the image isn't downloaded when clicked, I just get the URL.

Welcome to StackOverflow, SpicedWater!
The problem you're describing is most likely caused by a wrong path. Your browser resolves the images path and can't find it. I suggest you take a look at the source code in your browser or the developer console's network tab to see what path it's trying to find this image at and which http status code the browser determined.

Having trouble adding local image using HTML

I have an image on my computer that I'm trying to add to my HTML by using
img src="myheadshot.jpeg" (arrows included in VS Code), but nothing shows up. I've been able to add images from Google using the image address, but I can't seem to find a solution to the local image issue.
I'm just beginning my coding journey, so any help is much appreciated!
Make sure your code and image are saved in the same file or location on your computer. (e.g. The code and image are both saved on the desktop or in a file on the desktop.)
Also, maybe try this:
src="myheadshot.jpg"
Not really a difference, but it works for me!
First of all, I wish you success in this journey that you have just started.
For now, you can paste the image into your IDE and use the extension with the name there.enter code here
Example:
Let the name in the file be bg.jpg.
<img src="bg.jpg" >

Fail to add .png to page in a OJet project

I am working on Jet and now have to insert a image in the page. It should be very easy but now I am just not able to make this image shown in the page.
To ensure that there is no path error, I put the image and the html file in the same folder: src/js/views.
Below is the html code snippet:
<img src="xxx.png" style="width:89.25pt;height:18.75pt;" alt="xxx logo">
But the page just shows a broken icon but not this image.
Could you please help me out? Thanks in advance!
Two possible solutions:
Go to your browser's Dev Tools -> Network, and search for your image's request to server (If you cannot find it reload the page while keeping the Dev Tools open.) Does the URL path to the image look correct to you? If not, correct it.
If it still isn't working try using <image> tag instead. This worked for me.

Is any image link suitable for suitable for adding in html file?

I know I can add images to a html file by the following syntax
<img src="*****">
But my question is can i copy any images link from the web and add them to my html file?
i'm not talking about the copyright laws regarding this, just, can every image link be used as the image source in html?
I was writing a code in codepen where i embedded a link to an image from devianart, but the image didn't show up.
I think it depends to the website policy; Some websites don't let you to use their hosted images in your webpage, and some others do.
this is what i find on W3schools:
Definition and Usage:
The required src attribute specifies the URL of the image.
Note: When a web page loads; it is the browser, at that moment, that gets the image from a web server and inserts it into the page. Therefore, make sure that the image actually stay in the same spot in relation to the web page, otherwise your visitors will get a broken link icon. The broken link icon is shown if the browser cannot find the image.
The URL of the image.
Possible values:
An absolute URL - points to another web site (like
src="http://www.example.com/image.gif")
A relative URL - points to a file within a web site (like
src="image.gif")
Hope this is helpful :)
make sure image fully open in your browser tab/
i also check it but it work in codepen may be you doing something wrong first need to write clear what you want
try this image tag in codepen

Github pages not showing images inside my div

I created a new repo and uploaded all the files but the images in my div id="Container" inside my index files are not showing up. https://github.com/hkhan194/tres-chic/tree/gh-pages
I looked into all other questions regarding this matter and tried them but still no image showing.
#Hkhan I have tried the link in IE and Google Chrome,
In IE:
Your website is working fine, the images are getting displayed.
In Google Chrome:
The images are not getting displayed and when i checked the console ,I am getting this error
Error:
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://hkhan194.github.io/tres-chic/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure script 'http://cdn.jsdelivr.net/jquery.mixitup/latest/jquery.mixitup.min.js'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
Solution:
It seems that Google chrome is not allowing acceptance of the script from the url you have mentioned for the JS.
So the "mixItUp is not a function" error is getting thrown since the mixItUp function is from the former JS file.
So you could save that javascript file as "jquery.mixitup.min.js" in your github in a specific path and then include the javascript in the tag in your index file as shown below,
<script src="Your path/jquery.mixitup.min.js"></script>
First off, this isn't really a GitHub pages question. GitHub pages simply hosts your files. This is really a question about the HTML.
Secondly, you'll have much better luck if you post a MCVE. In your case this would be a smaller test page that only displays a single image.
That being said, I recommend going to the resulting HTML file: https://hkhan194.github.io/tres-chic/
Right-click anywhere in that page, and then go to "Inspect Element". That will open up a window that lets you explore the page elements, see any errors you're getting, and see what's going on over the network. I'm using Chrome, but every browser should have something very similar.
On the Network tab, notice that some of your image files aren't being found. These seem to be the result of misspellings: JPG or jpeg instead of jpg, that kind of thing.
Then on the Elements tab, find your products grid. Notice that its height is 0, which doesn't seem right. Then go into the div class="mix category-*" tags and notice that they all have a display of none!
The problem is that your CSS is setting #Container .mix to display:none, which is going to prevent them from being shown.
Please try to get into the habit of exploring your page using this window, and try to understand the difference between what GitHub Pages is doing and what your HTML is doing. If you have further questions, please try to narrow your problem down to a smaller example page. Good luck.

Weird issue regarding image in html

I am trying to display an image on my website by using this simple code -
<img src="images/google-adwords-icon.png" border="0" alt="google-adwords" />
But on webpage, the image is not rendering; instead I am facing a very weird issue - the following code has been tracked by me in firebug -
<img class="xnunavyyqyfxajbvnknq" src="images/google-adwords-icon.png" alt="google-adwords" border="0">
But when i open this image in photo viewer then image is loaded properly - no issue with it.
How did it happen? I have no idea. How the class automatically added there? What language is it? And firebug says failed to load the given URL. Any idea?
EDIT -
I am not using any framework - neither PHP nor CSS/Javascript
I am not using any WISIWIG text editor.
No addon is being used by me.
I am working on localhost.
Path "images/google-adwords-icon.png" is 100% ok. Any other image on the same level is displaying.
Problem fixed! When i changed the file name from "google-adwords-icon.png" to "adwords-icon.png". It was only "google" which doing so weird but nobody knows the exact reason. But fixed it just now. Thanks to all.
