I made 3 div elements name cont1 cont2 and cont3 all of them have their own paragraph and header inside, I made something like animation so whoever hovers one of those conts box-shadow gets higher and the scale of div increases but the problem is that if display is inherit and someone for example hovers first div other 2 divs which are down also move

Why are my flex items not wrapping?
(2 answers)
Closed 1 year ago.
I was creating a simple flexbox pricing page for my assignment and I ended up completing it. The problem is that the pricing cards do not wrap to the next row when the screen size is reduced i have set flex-wrap to wrap but still no luck. I searched this problem up and some results said that setting flex-container max-width to 100% would help, but it didn't. I have tried a bunch of other things but to no avail. Can someone help me with this?

You have to strictly define the width of the cards. 25% is a relative value, meaning it will shrink to the proper size to fit the container. I added some margins for aesthetic reasons, and added a flex: 1 0 0 - it grows if necessary, doesn't shink (if it does it won't wrap), and each card grows from the basis width defined in width. If you don't want it to grow, just define flex:0 0 auto, or just remove the flex line entirely, and define justify-content: space-evenly.
Note that you can hardcode it using media queries as well. In fact, I would recommend that as having different widths for your cards might be troublesome, and creating a pallette of cards of fixed widths would probably be easier.

You can view it in full screen and resize the browser to see how the wrapping works.
You have set the with of the card to 25%. You'll need to add a media query (https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/CSS/Media_Queries) so you can set another with when the screen is too small.
.card{
width: 50%;
}
#media (min-width: 1200px){
.card{
width: 30%
}
}
Use hard code for width to wrap else you can use #media for different screen sizes if you want to use soft code .
Add margin and padding according to need
#media like this :
#media (max-width: 776px){
.card {
width: 48%;
margin: 2% 1%;
}
}
#media (max-width: 500px){
.card {
width: 90%;
margin: 2% auto;
}
}

I cannot get my .container{} to encompass all the content on my web page. My lower navigation buttons are sitting outside the container (marked by a 1px black border) and I can't figure out why. I think your div.nav.wrap is getting pushed down because it's floated and there's no room for it in the container and because it's floated the container doesn't adjust for it. If you remove the float, you'll see the container start to contain it. That's normal float behaviour - elements with float are out of the 'flow' of the document so other elements aren't affected by them.
I'd just add a negative top margin to push it back up. I'd usually do this in rem or depending on how you size the nav height. So your existing .nav.wrap rule would become:
.nav.wrap{
display: inline-block;
background-color: green;
float: right;
margin-top: -35px;
}
I've made 2 boxes that are blue and have a white text color, and when you hover over them, the text color changes from white to blue and the box color changes from blue to white. That part works. But when I hover below the text from the box, the text color changes back to blue even though I'm still with my mouse on the box 'href'.
Have a look at my code:
body {
background: #DCDCDC
}
a {
text-decoration: none;
}
#galaxy {
width: 400px;

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Consolidated your code and fixed the issue.
You had identical styles for your #galaxy and #test boxes (until they're hovered). I added a class called .box to both of them and moved the styles to that selector.
The issue in your post was occurring because you had a :hover rule on the box itself and the text inside. The hover on the text was behaving as written - it was only activating when you hovered directly over the text.
To fix this, I removed the color: attribute from your .button-title-text element, allowing it to inherit the color from the .box.
Then I added a .box:hover rule that changes the text color, which takes effect when either box is hovered.
Hope this helps!

I've created a left navigation bar using buttons. I'm trying to reduce the hyperlink area to just the background image. Also, another issue I'm having is the elements overlaying the background image are taking precedence over the hyperlink, so the button is not actually clickable. Page for reference

Hyperlink area
Here's the background image area
.img-responsive {
display: block;
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
}
.background:hover .head {
color: #d76e08;
}
.overlay {
position: absolute;
z-index: 1;
top: 0;
left: 0;
color: white;
}
.icon {
padding-top: 15px;
padding-left: 40px;
}
.head {
margin-top: -75px;
padding-left: 120px;
}
.content {
margin-top: -5px;
padding-left: 120px;
padding-right: 35px;
}
<div class="row">
<div class="col-sm-12">
<div class="background">
<a href="../Collin/misc/issues/index.html">

<div class="overlay">

I'm trying to reduce the hyperlink area to just the background image.
Your markup is incredibly complex for what you are displaying.
You could have something like:
<ul>
<li>
<a>
<h2></h2>
<p></p>
</a>
</li>
<li>
<a>
<h2></h2>
<p></p>
</a>
</li>
</ul>
and add the image and the gradient using CSS.
I would use a single link tag for your button and leverage CSS gradients for the background:
* {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
body {
font-family: sans-serif;
}
.button {
background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom, #3D85C6, #07355F 50%, #07355F);
background-size: 100% 200%;
border-radius: 4px;
color: #fff;
display: block;
padding: 10px;
text-decoration: none;
transition: all 150ms ease-in-out;
}
.button:hover,
.button:focus,
.button:active {
background-position: 0 50%;
}
.button-icon {
float: left;
margin-right: 15px;
}
.button-content {
overflow: hidden;
}
.button-title {
font-size: 18px;
font-weight: bold;
}
.button-description {
font-size: 16px;
}
<a class="button" href="../Collin/misc/issues/index.html">
<div class="button-icon">
<img src="http://satyr.io/72/white?brand=github" alt=""/>
</div>
<div class="button-content">
<p class="button-title">Ask Facilities</p>
<p class="button-description">Here will be text about the button…</p>
</div>
</a>

The elements in OP were stacked in the markup, there were no nested components of the button. That would explain the unusual position coords and large padding.
Instead of <img>, background-image is used. Changed some of the tags to a real <button>, <h4> instead of <p>, etc.

Good day! I'm having a struggle to aligned the jumbtron to my calendar icon. And the elements of the jumbtron is not inside of it. Can someone help me how to solve this? Ideas? i just started studying bootstrap and css.
Here's the picture.
here is my html code.
<div class="events">
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class= "col-sm-4 col-xs-25">
<h4 id="event"><i class="fa fa-calendar" aria-hidden="true"></i> Upcoming Events</h4>
<hr class="carved">
<div class="date">
<span class="month">August</span>
<h1 class="day">28</h1>
</div>
<div class="container">
<div class="jumbotron">
<h4>Sample Title</h4>
<p>IT Thesis defense</p>
<h6>7:00 AM - 8:00 PM</h6>
</div>

The .container class carries its own width(s) and is intended to be used as a outer wrapper for your layout. Because of this, they do not tend to nest well. The one you have as a sibling of your .date classed elements is breaking the layout.
As for the spacing of the .jumbotron contents, Bootstrap assigns some pretty dramatic padding to that class by default. Consider overwriting that with your own values in your .jumbotron rule. The other issue — the .jumbotron contents bleeding out of their container — that is a result of the height: 100px you are setting. You can stop the contents from taking up space beyond the boundaries of the .jumbotron by adding/modifying its overflow property. This may be a matter of opinion but I think it is usually better to avoid setting height in the CSS and let the contents define the size of the container — especially in cases where the content is CMS/client driven.
If you remove the .container, you’ll still have the problem of the .date and .jumbotron stacking vertically. To address that, you might consider treating Date element as .row with a column for your .date element, and a column for that Date’s event(s).
<hr class="carved">
<div class=“row”><!-- the Date wrapper -->
<div class="col-sm-4">
<div class="date">
<span class="month">August</span>
<h1 class="day">28</h1>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-8"><!-- this column holds all the Events for this Date -->
<div class="jumbotron">
<h4>Sample Title</h4>
<p>IT Thesis defense</p>
<h6>7:00 AM - 8:00 PM</h6>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Note: The new structure will require a bit of adjustment to some of your CSS width properties, and the col- device/sizes I put on the Date and Event columns are just examples — size as needed.
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-2">
