How to resolve sticking in "Realm Selection"? - configuration

When connecting to my new AzerothCore Server with my client, I remain stuck in "Realm Selection" window. It seems that my authserver doesn't allow me to login to the right worldserver.
How can I resolve this issue?

Problem resolved. Here's the list of verification and modifications i made:
1) Close your WoW client
2) Verify if your worldserver is up. If your server is installed through Docker you can use the command
docker-compose ps
3) Verify the "server info" through the AC Console of the worldserver. If your server is isntalled through Docker, you can use the command:
docker attach azerothcore-wotlk_ac-worldserver_1
After attached the worldserver console, write
server info
4) If everything is fine, the problem is the ip address in the realmlist table of the acore_auth DataBase. So, install your a Mysql Client of your choice (SequelPro, HeidiSQL or Mysql Workbench are fine)
5) Connect to your mysql database. The default password for mysql is password
6) Use this query for setting the correct external ip address of the worldserver:
USE acore_auth;
SELECT * FROM realmlist;
UPDATE realmlist SET address = 'your_external_ip_address' WHERE name = 'name_of your_worldserver';
7) Login to your server with your WoW client
Enjoy and GG!

How to resolve a "max_allowed_packet" error when connecting PyCharm to a remote MySQL db via SSH?

I want to be able to connect to and work with a MySQL database that I have on DigitalOcean via PyCharm's database interface (instead of MySQL Workbench, which is what I'm currently using), but when I try to use PyCharm's interface to connect, I get the following error when I click 'Test Connection':
Packet for query is too large (###### > ######). You can change this value on the server by setting the max_allowed_packet' variable.
I'm connecting to DigitalOcean via SSH, and PyCharm is saying that my SSH connection is OK (it's working).
The issue ended up being that I was putting the wrong IP address and port into PyCharm's prompt: I was putting the IP address to my DigitalOcean VM instead of the local IP address of the MySQL db.
Here's a screenshot of the PyCharm settings that ended up working (remember, I was connecting via SSH):
Here's a screenshot of my (working) MySQL Workbench settings, showing which settings I should have copied over to PyCharm:

Using a remote MySQL database for a WP install on localhost

I am trying to use a database on my SiteGround hosting account for a WP install on my localhost (where I have Apache, PHP running using DesktopServer).
I am using the IP given in Remote MySQL section of cPanel for DB_HOST. I have whitelisted my IP. Also double checked to ensure that DB_NAME, DB_USER and DB_PASSWORD are correct. Gave full permissions to the user to access that database.
When I visit the WP install page, http://local.dev/wp-admin/install.php it says "Error establishing a database connection".
I sent a support ticket to the host and they concluded that everything is fine from their end:
I added a test IP of mine to cPanel > Remote MySQL and connected successfully to your database using the credentials shown on your screen shot...Everything seems properly and you should be able to connect remotely, so if you cannot connect your local app, I suppose that there is some local issue.
Can anyone give a clue as to how I can troubleshoot this?
I am using a Mac.

Cannot connect to MySQL Server database at localhost:3306

When I first set up MySQL Server in Netbeans everything worked well. Now one day I think I accidentally clicked something or my computer lost battery life when I was connected to MySQL Server, and after these event(s) I have not been able to connect to MySQL Server. I do not know for sure if either of the above events would have any effect on connecting to a MySQL Server database.
Anyway since these events I have found that I cannot "start" or "connect" to a MySQL Server databse. I am doing this all through Netbeans IDE.
Here is a picture of how I try to connect to my databaseL:
This is what the error message says after I click connect:
Unable to connect. Cannot establish a connection to jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/twitterdata using com.mysql.jdbc.Driver(Unknown database 'twitterdata'). The name of the database I am trying to connect to is twitterdata
How can I get reconnected to the MySQL Server database "twitterdata"?
I am not familiar with MySQL, databases, servers and I have no idea how to get reconnected. If there is any other helpful information that I should provide let me know.
What MySQL tools can I run to find my problem?
Why would the error message tell me that the database is unknown?
If I got to C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\data. There is a folder named twitterdata.
Here are the contents of that directory:
Please let me know if you need more information or if you have other suggestions that would help!
Thanks for all the help!
If you are using windows system and facing the error 'unable to connect localhost 3306' at the connection time. First you have to need start MySQL services in 2 steps:
Press "Windows key + R" write "services.msc"
And run as admin start MySQL service.
There can be three issues:
1) Either your server isn't even running. Open your command prompt and enter mysql
2)Let's say it is , can you check if it's connecting on the correct port.
Like in the url, you are using 3306,
Try following this post:
How do I find out my MySQL URL, host, port and username?
3) Can you check what if there are any credentials to the database you are connecting?

MySQL Workbench: "Can't connect to MySQL server on 127.0.0.1' (10061)" error

I apologise.. I know this question has been asked many times before, but I've tried lots of suggestions, and simply can't find a solution.
The problem: I have a MySQL database running on a hosted server.
I have to use SSH to connect to it, and I have the relevant Public and Private Key files.
I specifically want to use the PC version of MySQL Workbench, to access this database, for running queries, checking data, etc.
If I run Sequel Pro on a Mac, it connects fine, and I can browse and query the database. No problems.
If I run the trial version of SQLyog on a PC, it also connects fine. No problems.
But if I try to connect use MySQL's own "MySQL Workbench" application, using exactly the same settings and SSH Private Key file, it refuses to connect, throwing the well-known error:
Can't connect to MySQL server on 127.0.0.1' (10061)
I find it frustrating, as, in SQL Workbench, I specified the "MySQL Hostname" to use, db01.mysql.vm.MyHostingServer.net, but Workbench seems to ignore it, and demand to connect to 127.0.0.1 instead.
(I have read that Workbench says it needs the Public key file, but actually means the Private key file... and I have tried with both. I've also tried with MySQL Workbench on a Mac, but that crashed all over the place, simply when I was typing in server names and passwords.. it was a mess !!)
The hosting service I've gone with gives me limited permissions for changing MySQL settings, and given that Sequel Pro and SQLyog can connect successfully, I don't want to start messing about and changing things randomly.
Any ideas...?
Maybe you are not allowed to start the service "MySQL 55". Set the login information of Service "MySQL 55" as local!
To see the list of aviable services in Windows 7:
Open a run box
Type services.msc and press return.
Find the service MySQL55
A right click of the MySQL55 Local Service shows Properties -> Log On
Even I had same problem, The reason was mysql service was not getting configured properly, when I installed it through 'MySQL installer'. Also it was not starting, when I tried to start the service manually.
So in my case it seemed be a Bug with the 'MySQL Installer', as editing the install path to a different one when the 'Developer default' was selected, the problem occurs.
Solution (Not exactly a solution):
Uninstalled the MySQL all products (completely)
Reinstalled, this time also I have selected 'Developer default', but didn't make any changes to the path or any thing. So the path was just 'C:\Program Files\MySQL' (the default one)
And just clicked Next Next...
Done, this time MySql was running fine.
After making above improvement such as checking if mysql service is running or not, you just need to give a small password while creating connection, it is ' ' or 1 time press on space-bar in case of GUI or workbench. After which you just need to validate your machine with server (validated HOST). For that purpose click on 'New Server Instance' and it will configure server/HOST on your behalf itself.
I have done this successfully just a few couple of minutes ago. My workbench software is able to show all pre-installed databases etc now.
hope it will work for you as well.
Thanks!!!
I was having same issue, way i have resolved is:
opened the MySQL installer. i was having a Reconfigure link on MYSQL Server row.
Clicked on it, it does reinstalled MySQL Server.
after that opened MySQL Workbench, and it was working fine.
Try placing the host name (db01.mysql.vm.MyHostingServer.net) in your windows host (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host) file along with it's IP address and port number and see if that helps.
If you have installed WAMP on your machine, please make sure that it is running. Do not EXIT the WAMP from tray menu since it will stop the MySQL Server.
To connect to a new server, you click on home + add new connection. Put IP or webserver URL in new connection.
Just try to run the following command manually:
C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.6.17\bin\mysqld.exe --console
It worked for me :)
Ran into the exact same problem as OP and found that leaving the "MySQL Server Port" empty in the MySQL Workbench connection solves the issue.
I have tried all the method.
I will suggest you to reinstall it.

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

I recently installed MySQL 5 on Windows 2003 and tried configuring an instance. Everything worked fine until I got to "Applying Security settings", at which point it gave me the above error (Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)).
I do have a port 3306 exception in my firewall for 'MySQL Server'.
Got this error on Windows because my mysqld.exe wasn't running.
Ran "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\mysqld" --install from the command line to add it to my services, ran services.msc (start -> run), found the MySQL service and started it.
Didn't have to worry about it from there on out.
To resolve this problem:
go to the task manager
select Services tab
find MySql service
Running
That's all.
You'll probably have to grant 'localhost' privileges to on the table to the user. See the 'GRANT' syntax documentation. Here's an example (from some C source).
"GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON %s.* TO '%s'#'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '%s'";
That's the most common access problem with MySQL.
Other than that, you might check that the user you have defined to create your instance has full privileges, else the user cannot grant privileges.
Also, make sure the mysql service is started.
Make sure you don't have a third party firewall or Internet security service turned on.
Beyond that, there's several pages of the MySQL forum devoted to this:
http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,9293,9609#msg-9609
Try reading that.
I had difficulty accessing MySQL while connecting via a localhost connection on the standard port 3306, which worked fine when I installed and configured it for prior classes I had taken in MySQL and Java. I was getting errors like "error 2003" and "Cannot connect to MySql server on localhost (10061)". I tried connecting from both MySQL Workbench (5.2.35 CE) and Netbeans (7.2). I am using Windows 7 64 bit professional.
I tried typing in services.msc in the start menu search box, which opened the services dialog box to show all the services installed in windows. I scrolled down to MySQL and started this service. Subsequent attempts to connect to MySQL from MySQL WorkBench and from the command prompt succeeded.
English:
press Windows + R
write "services.msc". Then press Enter
search for MySQL57 and right click
click on start the service
Français :
Appuyez sur la touche Windows + R
Écrire "services.msc" Puis appuyez sur Entrée
Recherchez MySQL57 et clic droit
Cliquez sur rédémarrer
press Windows key + R
write "services.msc" enter
search for "MYSQL56"
write click on it and start the service
Make sure that your windows host file (located at c://windows/system32/drivers/etc.host) has following line. If not, add it at the end
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
Sometimes mysql can not trigger Windows to force start host services if firewall blocks it, so start it manually
win+run>>services.msc, select the "MySQL_xx" where "xx" is the name you have assigned to MySQL host services during setup. Click on 'start' to start from hyperlink appeared on left side.
I tried Kuzhichamadam Inn's solution and found that a slight change needed to be made.
MYSQL57 was a network service. I had tried this repeatedly with no success. When I opened services.msc I found another service for localhost: MySQL. I started that one using the process below and it worked.
run > services.msc > rightclick MySQL > properties >start
I got this error when I ran out of space on my drive.
Go to Run type services.msc. Check whether or not MySQL services are running. If not, start it manually. Once it is started, type MySQL Show to test the service.
To connect locally to MySql, you do not have to setup a firewall with inbound rules. But, even if you already setup iptables to allow the TCP inbound port 3306 and grant the privilege to the user to access the db locally, you may have to setup the bind address in your my.cnf file, edit the default address there and put the server IP address that is running the MySql service.
Since I have struggled and found a slightly different answer here it is:
I recently switched the local (intranet) server at my new workplace. Installed a LAMP; Debian, Apache, MySql, PHP. The users at work connect the server by using the hostname, lets call it "intaserv". I set up everything, got it working but could not connect my MySql remotely whatever I did.
I found my answer after endless tries though. You can only have one bind-address and it cannot be hostname, in my case "intranet".
It has to be an IP-address in eg. "bind-address=192.168.0.50".
run > services.msc > rightclick MySQL57 > properties >set start type option to automatic
after restarting computer
At cmd
cd: C:\
C :\> cd "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin"
it will become
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin>
type mysql -u root -p
ie C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin> mysql -u root -p
Enter password: ****
That's all
It will result in
mysql>
Another possibility:
There are two ways the MySQL client can connect to the server: over TCP/IP, or using sockets. It's possible you have your MySQL server configured to support socket connections, but not network connections.
Nothing to do just "Reset to Default" your firewall setting it will start working.
I read many solutions but nothing worked properly, so at last I reset firewall settings which worked.
finally solved this.. try running mysql in xammp. The check box of mysql in xammp should be unclicked. then start it. after that you can open now mysql and it will now connect to the localhost
Edit your 'my-default.ini' file (by default it comes with commented properties)as below ie.
basedir=D:/D_Drive/mysql-5.6.20-win32
datadir=D:/D_Drive/mysql-5.6.20-win32/data
port=8888
There is very good article present that dictates commands to create user, browse tables etc ie.
http://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/ehchua/programming/sql/MySQL_HowTo.html#zz-3.1
I did not have Mysql server installed, that package was missing and I got it from this link https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/installer/
Right click on My Computer
Click on Manage
Go to Services and Application
Select Services and find MySQL service
Right click on MySQL and select Start
