I am having this weird issue with google chrome browser. whenever i try to inspect element and open the developer tools, it automatically reloads the page.
Is there anyone else having the same issue ? How do you solve it ?
I just solved this today! For me, the extension was: Instagram Download Video & Image (but there appear to be about 30 affected plugins). Check the ARS link for all of them...
To quote ARS Technica...
...researchers from Prague-based Avast said they found 28 extensions for the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers that contained malware. The add-ons billed themselves as a way to download pictures, videos, or other content from sites including Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, and Spotify. At the time this post went live, some, but not all, of the malicious extensions remained available for download from Google and Microsoft.
The plugins have been removed, you can't download them at the chrome plugin site anymore, and the problem of the page refreshing when you inspect no longer happens.
2021, July Update: It seems like other extensions are slowly being weeded out as security threats by Google. Just the other week, the extension TikTok Video Downloader was similarly removed.

I published my chrome extension to the store a couple of hours ago and received the message: "Your item has been published. All changes will take effect within a few minutes." and am yet to see it appear in the store (still seeing this message).
Does it usually take this long for a chrome extension to show up in the store?
When I click "View in Chrome Web Store" link in the new Developer Dashboard I get to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/************************/publish-accepted-testers?authuser=0&hl=en page:
But if I click on the extension name in the old Developer Dashboard I get to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/extension_name/****************** page where Add to Chrome button is active.
If you go to the webstore developer dashboard, you should be able to click on your extension, that will bring you to its webstore page. You can share this link before your extension gets listed, which often takes a few hours.
I ran into this issue, and needed to revert to the old developer dashboard (as #Winand mentioned) to get to the correct link in the web store. Here's a screen shot of how to opt out of the new Chrome Extension Developer Dashboard:
More info on the Chromium blog here: https://blog.chromium.org/2020/03/new-developer-dashboard-and.html.
close the the browser and restart it.If still getting prob then go and try again to the more tools and extension .Search it over there ,if enable then restart & use it.
This is not a problem with viewing the GTM console on my domain.
When I click the "preview" button my GTM interface refresh, but it just won't go into preview mode! Never had this problem before and I've tried closed and opened chrome, disabled cache in devTools and tried it in incognito. Nothing of this works.. Any ideas?
I have admin with publish rights for my account.
Solved it!
One of my Chrome extensions blocked it for some reason I don't know.
It was the extension "Ghostery" that caused the problem and when I deactivated it "preview and debug" started working. Now I just have to find out a way to still use the extension and keep GTM working, like it did before christmas.
I have found that if you are blocking third-party cookies, the GTM Preview/Debug won't turn on.
I've never got Preview mode to work in Chrome. It does work using Opera. You can get an add-on for Opera that will allow you to use all Chrome extensions in Opera.
I have the latest version of Google Chrome, I can open all other websites beside YouTube.
I'm getting this message: "This web page is not available".
What is strange I can open YouTube with Firefox.
Can you help me please? I'm stuck with this problem since one week and I have tried everything but no solution.
You can try deleting your cache and browsing history.
Menu -> Settings -> Content settings and Clear browsing data under Privacy
Also, if you scroll down even more and open the advanced options, there is an option to reset everything back. Not sure why that would work but it is an option. Just remember to backup your stuff or link to your Google account.
I am experiencing an issue with opening a Microsoft Office Document, using IT Hit WebDAV AJAX library, in latest Chrome 39.0. running on Windows OS. It is a sporadic issue that occurs only in Chrome, and it happens when one opens a document multiple times. Word instance won't start, the page freezes and browser becomes unresponsive, and Chrome suggests killing the page. The only solution is restarting the browser, which solves the issue.
I have tried opening a document in Chrome on Mac OS X, and it is working fine. So are Mozilla and Safari on all operating systems. It seems to be a Chrome + Windows issue only.
Has anyone experienced this issue and is there a fix?
The Microsoft Office plug-in that opens the document displays a warning popup "Some files can harm your computer.", which is a modeless dialog:
If you quickly click on a link that opens the document more than one time the dialog will hide behind the main web browser window. As a result the web browser window is blocked.
You need to switch to that dialog and confirm or reject document opening, otherwise after some time Chrome will ask you if to kill the page or wait.
Note that there is no way to avoid that dialog, this is a built-in MS Office functionality as far as I know.
Chrome will only work good with ITHitWebDAV if the user has got Office 2013 or superior.
Google is blocking all Java applets and NPAPIs now, so good luck with that. I just detect the browser of the user that wants to edit a document, and if it's chrome, I warn him to change to another browser like Firefox with a modal, and that's all.
Very poor support between Chrome and ITHitWebDAV, and no much you can do about it.
Can I create a plugin or an extension for Google Chrome MOBILE (Android Google Chrome)?
If not, can I create an extension for Google Chrome (desktop), which will add a button in Google Chrome bar. This button will open the page in another web browser (in my own web browser), so, this button should launch my own web browser.
Extensions are not supported, see: https://developers.google.com/chrome/mobile/docs/faq .
Specifically:
Does Chrome for Android now support the embedded WebView for a hybrid native/web app?
A Chrome-based WebView is included in Android 4.4 (KitKat) and later. See the WebView overview for details.
Does Chrome for Android support apps and extensions?
Chrome apps and extensions are currently not supported on Chrome for
Android. We have no plans to announce at this time.
Can I write and deploy web apps on Chrome for Android?
Though Chrome apps are not currently supported, we would love to see great interactive web sites accessible by URL.
You can use bookmarklets (javascript code in a bookmark) - this also means they sync across devices.
I have loads - I prefix the name with zzz, so they are eazy to type in to the address bar and show in drop down predictions.
To get them to operate on a page you need to go to the page and then in the address bar type the bookmarklet name - this will cause the bookmarklet to execute in the context of the page.
edit
Just to highlight - for this to work, the bookmarklet name must be typed into the address bar while the page you want to operate in is being displayed - if you go off to select the bookmarklet in some other way the page context gets lost, and the bookmarklet operates on a new empty page.
I use
zzzpocket - send to pocket.
zzztwitter tweet this page
zzzmail email this page
zzzpressthis send this page to wordpress
zzztrello send this page to trello
and more...
and it works in chrome whatever platform I am currently logged on to.
Some extensions like blocksite use the accessibility service API to deploy extension like features to Chrome on Android. Might be worth a look through the play store. Otherwise, Firefox is your best bet, though many extensions don't work on mobile for some reason.

Just use a different browser.
Follow the steps given below to install Chrome extensions on your Android device.
Step 1: Open Google Play Store and download Yandex Browser. Install the browser on your phone.
Step 2: In the URL box of your new browser, open 'chrome.google.com/webstore’ by entering the same in the URL address.
Step 3: Look for the Chrome extension that you want and once you have it, tap on 'Add to Chrome.’
The added Chrome extension will now be automatically added to the Yandex browser.
I imagine that there are not many browsers supporting extension. Indeed, I have been interested in this question for the last year and I only found Dolphin supporting add-ons and other cool features announced few days ago. I want to test it soon.
