How can solve the empty space at bottom of page?

I'm coding my first website but unfortunately there is some unwanted empty space at the bottom that won't go away.
I've checked a lot of solves but they don't seem to be working. Could somebody please take a look at the code (linked below) and let me know what I'm doing wrong?
i can see this problem in all my html, usually if my html has content the problem doesn't but it reappears when i resize the screen with "inspect element" tool of any browser. As I said before, I tried a lot of solutions, even deleting whole lines of code to try to find the solution but I don't get anything...

I can help! The problem is the height of your body, which can be solved with the following CSS:
body {
min-height: 100%;
}
Then to give the appearance of no empty space, you can position your footer element all the way at the base of the page, like so:
footer {
position: fixed;
bottom: 0;
width: 100%;
}

The problem is the links are working upto Apartment option. I have figured out problem is with the bootstrap css I'm using.When I remove the bootstrap cdn it works fine but when I put it back It won't work.I need Bootstrap container and row classes cause I have ordered them according to those divs
Remove the margin-top from the class .background-img1 and add margin-top: 176px; to .background-image-block class;
The Links are not working because the div with class .background-image-block was on its top.

Body expands in responsive/mobile mode

I was making the responsive mobile version of a website, when I discovered that the body expands when resizing the window, here's a screenshot of it (the header is pink so I could spot where the error was in pixels, ah yes, it's in Italian but don't worry):
This is the code:
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>

</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" media="screen" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/font-awesome-4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css"/>

content: '';
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;

width: 100%;

z-index: 1;
background: linear-gradient(to top, rgb(17, 17, 17),transparent);
}
.wall .content {

text-align: center;
z-index: 1;
}
.wall .content h2 {
color: #fff;
font-size: 5em;
font-family: 'Leckerli One';
}
.wall .content a {
position: absolute;

font-family: 'Leckerli One';
bottom: -140px;
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, 70%) rotate(180deg);
font-weight: 900;
}
Add this to the top of your CSS and your problems will be solved:
html {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
*, *::before, *::after {
box-sizing: inherit;
}
The issue is that the padding on the .header is making the element expand beyond where you want it to. Changing the box-sizing will modify the way the padding is interpreted and apply it inside the content area instead of expanding it.
Try using overflow-x like this:
html,body{
overflow-x: hidden;
}

Why does the ul element show when input is clicked?

For some reason the ul gets display: none, and is not displayed even when the impute element is clicked.
This is the html
When this is clicked:
<input class="input country" type="text"/>
This html should show (but it doesn't):
<ul id='country-list'>
<li id="US">United States</li>
</ul>
This is the jQuery code:
function handleCountries() {
$('#country-list').hide();
$('#country').click(function () {
$("#country-list").show();
});
};
function handleTestOut() {
handleCountries()
};
$(handleTestOut)
This is the html:
<div class="container">
<input class="input country" type="text"/>
<ul id='country-list'>
<li id="US">United States</li>
</ul>
<button>explore</button>
</div>
This is some css:
.container {
position: relative;
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
height: 200px;
}
.input {
height: 30px;
margin-bottom: 50px;
}
ul {
height: 200px;
width: 18%;
overflow: hidden;
overflow-y: scroll;
position: absolute;
background-color: blue;
top: 20px
}
Here is the full code
Edit: I removed the invalid html, but am getting the same results
You hide it with: $('#country-list').hide();
And what is with this functions calling each other?
You are using jQuery to call handleTestOut function in witch you call handleCountries function. It does not make much sense.
You will get absolutely same result if you just leave it out of functions:
But your main problem was you don't have #country id you have .country CSS class for click calling (or use input.country or .input class, or all of it input.country.input):
$('#country-list').hide();
$('.country').click(function() {
$("#country-list").show();
});
