CSS dropdown menu borders and slight offset - html

I need to make the following dropdown menu:
CSS dropdown menu SOLUTION.
My code just doesn't do the job right:
My (wrong) SOLUTION
My code at the moment:
.parent-menu li {
display: block;
text-transform: uppercase;
border-bottom:none;
border-top:none;
padding:10px;
border-right:none;
}
.sub-menu-caption, .upper-menu{
border:1px solid red;
}
.parent-menu{
width:100%;
}
.sub-menu {
font-style: italic;
display: none;
width:170px;
height:90px;
position:absolute;
background:black;
margin:10px 0 0 -11px;
font-size:1em;
}
.sub-menu li{
border-bottom:1px solid red;
z-index: 1;
}
.sub-menu li:last-child {
border-bottom: none;
}
.sub-menu-caption{
left:auto;
right:auto;
text-align:center;
}
.sub-menu-caption:hover .sub-menu {
display: block;
border:solid red 1px;
border-top:none;
padding-bottom:5%;
}
<nav id="main-menu" class="section">
<ul class="parent-menu">
<li class="sub-menu-caption">Automobiles
<ul class="sub-menu">
<li>812 Superfast</li>
<li>GTC4Lusso</li>
<li>488 GTB</li>
<li>488 Spider</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li class="upper-menu">services</li>
<li class="upper-menu">pre-owned</li>
<li class="upper-menu">Find a dealer</li>
<li class="upper-menu">my ferrari</li>
</ul>
</nav>
There is an slight offset to the right with the dropdown menu and borders aren't going all the way through :(
What could be the problem? And how could i fix it? And no, i don't work for Ferrari :D
Thank you!

Nevermind. Tweaked the CSS code a bit differently and found the right solution.

Style for pills in navbar

How can i make custom pills for navbar like on
screenshot?
I did it by myself, but pills are inside of navbar and the text is not in the center of pill.
I understand, that the problem is inside of .menu li a:hover:not and .menu li a:hover:not(.active). But i don't know, how to make outside of navbar(i mean borders of the pills like on screenshot)
.menu {
padding-top: 10px;
padding-bottom: 10px;
font-size: 20px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
}
.menu ul {
margin: 0 auto;

display: block;
list-style:none;
border-radius: 20px 0 0 0;
background-color: #0b78ad;
text-align: center;
}
.menu li {
list-style-type: none;
text-align: center;
display: inline-block;
}
.menu ul li a {
padding: 10px;
padding-left: 50px;
margin: 0px;
display: block;
text-align: center;
}
.menu li a:hover:not(.active) {
color: #325491;
}
.menu li.active a {
border-radius: 20px 0 20px 0;

You can do it with just a plain border-radius, like any other property it starts with top, right, bottom and right
.button {
display: inline-block;
background-color: #ededed;
border: 1px solid deepskyblue;
border-radius: 10px 0 10px 0;
padding: 10px 16px;
text-align: center;
}
<div class="button">shape</div>
You can do like this.
1. Navbar you can give a 'max-height' property so that we can set a height for the first-child.
#nav-id {
max-height: 65px;
margin-top: 20px;
}
2.We can set the first 'li' 'margin-top' or 'position'
li:first-child {
border-radius: 15px 50px;
padding: 20px;
width: 200px;
height: 106px;
background: blue;
background-position: center;
margin-top:-20px;
z-index:1;
text-align:center;
}

If you point mouse around the Menu2 you will see that it is not filled properly.
I removed the black background on ".sub1 li a", and created a new selector ".sub1 li:hover a" and set the color to black in there. Updated code can be found below.

Scroll and border CSS issues

I am almost done w/ my menu here. However I have two issues.
I can't add a 1px solid border #fff on the last item of the list.
I need to remove the vertical scrollbar on the left.
Here's my CSS:
#nav li ul {
opacity: 0;
height: 0px;
}
#nav li a {
font-style: normal;
font-weight: 400;
position: relative;
display: block;
padding: 16px 25px;
color: #fff;
white-space: nowrap;
z-index: 2;
text-decoration: none
}
#nav li a:hover {
color: #c0392b;
background-color: #ecf0f1;
}
#nav ul li {
background-color: #e74c3c;
color: #fff;
display: block;
list-style: disc;
}
#nav li:first-child {
border-top: 1px solid #fff;
}
#nav ul {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
#nav .fa { margin: 0px 17px 0px 0px; }
.logo {
width: 100%;
padding: 21px;
margin-bottom: 20px;
box-sizing: border-box;
}
#logo{
color: #fff;
font-size: 30px;
font-style: normal;
}
.sidebar-icon {
position: relative;
float: right;
text-align: center;
line-height: 1;
font-size: 25px;
padding: 6px 8px;
color: #fff;
}
.disp {
opacity: 1!important;
height:auto!important;
transition: height 100ms ease-in-out;
transition-delay: 300ms;
}
#nav li span:first-child {
margin-left: 32px;
}
asdasdasdasdasdasdasdassa
Well, first remove this:
#nav li:not(:last-child) {
border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
}
for add border to all li even last one:
#nav li {
border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
}
for removing scroll do this:
JS:
$('body, html').toggleClass('OverflowHidden');
CSS:
.OverflowHidden {
overflow: auto;
}
and for removing double border use this:
#nav li ul li:last-child {
border-bottom: none!important;
}

Hover menu not working properly for submenus

I have a simple vertical hover menu and even when I don't hover over any buttons but the cursor is a little to the right of it, it shows the submenu. When there isn't a submenu the main menu button starts to flicker. I am not entirely sure what is going on and why it is happening. Here is link to show what I mean.
EDIT: Thank you for your responses! Now I'm having a different/almost same problem. The menu doesn't freak out any more, but now there's a bar that sticks out of it and it is still opening the submenus without having to hover over the parent menu. Link to picture here.
Here's my HTML
<div id="divMenu">
<ul>
<li>Home1</li>
<li>Home2
<ul>
<li>Homed</li>
<li>Homee</li>
<li>Homef</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Home3
<ul>
<li>Homeg</li>
<li>Homeh</li>
<li>Homei</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Home4</li>
<li>Home5
<ul>
<li>Homej</li>
<li>Homek</li>
<li>Homel</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Home6</li>
</ul>
</div>
And my CSS
<style type="text/css">
#divMenu {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}
#divMenu ul {
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px 15px;
}
#divMenu li {
margin: 4px;
padding: 4px;
}
#divMenu li li {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}
#divMenu {
width: 150px;
height: 27px;
}
#divMenu ul {
line-height: 25px;
}
#divMenu li {
list-style: none;
position: relative;
background: #000;
}
#divMenu li li {
list-style: none;
position: relative;
background: #000;
left: 95px;
top: -30px;
}
#divMenu ul li a {
width: 150px;
height: 25px;
padding: 5px 5px;
display: inline-block;
letter-spacing: 6px;
text-decoration: none;
text-align: left;
font-family: Quicksand Light;
color: #ffffff;
border: 0px;
}
#divMenu ul ul {
position: absolute;
visibility: hidden;
top: 27px;
}
#divMenu ul li:hover ul {
visibility: visible;
}
#divMenu li:hover {
background-color: #fff;
}
#divMenu ul li:hover > a {
background-color: #fff;
color: #000;
}
#divMenu a:hover {
font-weight: normal;
color: #000;
}
</style>
Just remove width:0px from #divMenu ul li:hover > a and #divMenu a:hover from your style.
The problem of the block tripping is because of the width in the block underneath:
#divMenu ul li a {
width: 150px;
height: 25px;
padding: 5px 5px;
display: inline-block;
letter-spacing: 6px;
text-decoration: none;
text-align: left;
font-family: Quicksand Light;
color: #ffffff;
border: 0px;
}
Just remove that width and it should work.
It's due to the zero width you're applying to the links. You really don't need that.
#divMenu ul li:hover > a {
/*width: 0px;*/
background-color: #fff;
color: #000;
}
#divMenu a:hover {
/*width: 0px;*/
font-weight: normal;
color: #000;
}
#divMenu {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}
#divMenu ul {
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px 15px;
}
#divMenu li {
margin: 4px;
padding: 4px;
}
#divMenu li li {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}
#divMenu {
width: 150px;
height: 27px;
}
#divMenu ul {
line-height: 25px;
}
#divMenu li {
list-style: none;
position: relative;
background: #000;
}
#divMenu li li {

background: #000;
left: 95px;

display: inline-block;
letter-spacing: 6px;
text-decoration: none;
text-align: left;
font-family: Quicksand Light;
color: #ffffff;
border: 0px;
}
#divMenu ul ul {
position: absolute;

}
#divMenu ul li:hover ul {

}
#divMenu li:hover {

You simply need to increase the z-index of the submenu, by e.g. adding
.nav ul ul{
z-index:99;
}
The z-index property specifies the z-order of an element and its
descendants. When elements overlap, z-order determines which one
covers the other. An element with a larger z-index generally covers an
element with a lower one.
Although a value of 99 is likely excessive in this case, z-index effectively dictates the layering precedence of the element in question. note that in order to apply, the element will also need a position set (which your sub menu's already have)
Add
.content{
z-index: -100;
}
The content was like becoming an overlay on your dropdown menu item. So the cursor active scope was getting lost.
or add z-index in positive value for the menu
