I upgraded to ubuntu 18.10 and when I installed mysql server and workstation, the workstation wouldn't connect. the service --status-all says that mysql is running. This was a clean install, and I installed it the same way on 18.04 which worked. My friend has the same issue from a clean install
Lot of developers are facing some sort of issues after upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 including me. I would suggest either wait for the update when they fix the issues or downgrade to Ubuntu 18.04

When I am trying to re-install MySQL Community Servers 8.0 on Windows 10, it is giving me the option just to update it and not to install it, although I have already deleted all the previous MySQL packages from my computer so that I can re-install it from scratch.
I am using windows 10 and installed Ubuntu from the windows app store. In the terminal I type sudo apt-get install mysql-server.
I have tried multiple guides of making sure I removed all Sql installs and files that could have been installed already. The strange thing is I just downloaded Ubuntu and never had mysql on the system. I continue to get the below error.

Setup Explained:
I just went to the windows store and downloaded the canonical software. Unfortunately, I dont know much about this linux. I just downloaded and I can just open up the ubuntu exe. This may be the root of my problem. Its a windows app.
I'm using MAMP PRO 3.2.2 for Windows and need to upgrade the current MySQL version (5.5) to 5.7. Is there a way to do this in Windows?
Unfortunately it appears the only solution is updating MAMP. Which is a problem for me because the newest MAMP appears unstable (shutting servers on and off causes overlapping ports). I wish there was as I prefer MAMP 3.3.1.
