When I open an html file from MacOS Finder, why is chrome only opening a blank window/tab? - html

I am having trouble getting Chrome to open html files from MacOS Finder. This includes double-clicking or right clicking and selecting open. These actions result in opening or making Chrome the active application, but not opening the html file. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It didn't start after an update or any detectible change in how I work. It seems totally random.
Here's what I've tried:
opening multiple html files created in different applications (sublime, dreamweaver, atom, etc.)
deleting Chrome preferences
resetting all Chrome settings
running all possible updates
restarting Chrome and computer
Here's what does work:
opening files from within Chrome via File>Open File
opening a new tab or window in Chrome and dragging an html file into it
opening html files in Firefox and Safari by all available methods without encountering the issue I'm experiencing with Chrome.
Thank you!

Recreating the Sublime Text preference file resolved the issue. Admittedly I feel kinda dumb for not doing this in my first round of troubleshooting, but at least I did it now! Hopefully this at least helps some other people out there with the same issue.

In VS code, whenever I save a file in Html its being saved as Brave Html document when I actually want it to save as Chrome Html doc. How to do it?

Earlier I used to have Brave as my default browser and installed vs code using Brave browser. I then uninstalled vs code and reinstalled it from chrome browser. Still I'm getting the same problem.
Right click then click open with and choose more apps and select chrome then select always open with chrome and tada.

Opening Local HTML File: Chrome treats space as new tab?

When opening a local HTML file to see how it is rendering, Chrome is opening new tabs for every space in my file path, as shown:
New tab for every space in file path
Correct File Path
This seems to be a recent issue, and the pages are opening correctly in Microsoft Edge, replacing the spaces with %20 encoding and loading. Does anybody know a setting in Chrome that can fix encoding issue?
Had the same problem. Turns out this is due to an update that was installed on Chrome recently that requires an application relaunch to be fully functional. Closing all your chrome windows and reopening should fix the issue.

Chrome Inspector Issue - Tab Headers Being Cut Off

I use the chrome inspector a lot when I develop. This morning when I opened it up, I saw this:
Look up at the tab headers in the inspector window, it's being weirdly cut off.
Here's one with the console tab open, the text in the console tab is experiencing the same issue as the headers.
I've tried completely closing and reopening chrome. No luck, same issue. I tried using the "Restore defaults and reload" command in inspector setting, closing and reopening chrome. No luck, same issue.
This is driving me crazy, I can't an issue similar to this anywhere. I use the inspector so much while developing, so I really need to find a solution.
I really appreciate anyone's time and help with this issue.
So, I don't know what caused this issue, but my solution was to uninstall and then reinstall Chrome.
I recommend completely uninstalling Chrome, which includes:
Moving the app from applications folder into trash
Moving all files under ~/Library/Google/ into trash*
Moving all files under ~/Library/Application Support/Google/ into trash*
Emptying you trash folder, so that all the files are truly deleted.
*This solution is for Mac systems, file paths are different for Windows.
After the full uninstall, you can reinstall Chrome as normal (download it from another browser).

Why does my page look different in design than at run-time?

I'm studying HTML/CSS and doing a single-page project using WebStorm and Chrome. Normally I test the way my page running Chrome in WebStorm which results in opening http://localhost:63342/ in my browser address line.
After I finished my project I closed WebStorm and ran it again in Chrome, but this time I open it by clicking on the shortcut on my desktop.
To my surprise, the way the page looks was different from the one that I saw when I opened Chrome through WebStorm.
The question is: Why so? It's the same HTML/CSS code, the same browser.
You can use http://brackets.io/ as an alternative. It has a similar feature called "live preview".
It seems that there is no style applied to your page. If you have your css in a separate file, my guess is that WebStorm doesn't locate your CSS file or you are not referencing it correctly in your html. Try looking at the "Sources" tab from the Chrome Developer Tools (F18) and see if it loaded the .css file.
It turned out that it had something to do with the page scale. When I press cmd and + and the page zooms in, it gets a slightly different look.

automatically open website in my browser

When I start my browser Chrome and Firefox, the website named "http://www.bilexlahntu.ru" opens automatically. Also there are no extensions installed on it. How to solve this problem? Also sometimes Chrome shows a pop-up to download something.
Please help me.
Looks like your browser contains adware. Use some addware remover. For automatically opening sites, have checked chrome>>settings>>on start up and remove or change the start up pages. I have used addblock extension for chrome.. link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom
i find the solution, after uninstalling all the application that are from unknown publisher, i don't face this problem and all my browser works well as earlier.
