SQL Query Not Loading No Error phpmyadmin - mysql

I've seen several instances across the web of a people running a SQL query in phpmyadmin and experiencing the loading screen, but it never retrieving information. I'm experiencing a similar issue and have been unable to find any solution.
Here's the query:
SELECT Comments.device_id, Comments.Author, Comments.Ack_type,
Comments.Entry_Time, Comments.Comment_ID, Comments.Comment,
History.datetime, History.device_status, History.status_name
FROM `Comments` LEFT JOIN History ON Comments.device_id = History.device_id
GROUP BY device_id
Here are the issues:
My apache2 and mysql error logs don't return any information. The Chrome console produces no errors for the elements on the page It just says loading.
No Chrome Errors
The phpmyadmin console doesn't error out but instead loads and locks down phpmyadmin
phpmyadmin loading
Fails to ever return any information from the query.
Things to note:
Simple queries work and wrong queries produce error codes.
In order to get phpmyadmin running properly again after running this query I have to either clear my cookies, restart my web browser, or restart mysql on the server side.
Here's the server information:
Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
Server type: MySQL Server version:5.7.23-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 - (Ubuntu)
Protocol version: 10
Server charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
Here are the table structures:

Try changing GROUP BY device_id to GROUP BY Comments.device_id
Try adding LIMIT 1 to see if there is too many records

mysql (5.7.17) crashes on one specific query

We have one java application, which uses mysql db as back end.
Mysql 5.7.17 is installed on windows server 2012 R2 Standard
The issue is that our java application crashes mysql database,
We enabled logs and found out that there is this specific query that crashes mysql.
If I copy this query from the logs and run it in Workbench it crashes mysql and I get "Lost connection to mysql during query"
I tried increasing , max packet size, net read timeout to no avail.
To drill further , I installed same version mysql on another VM windows server 2012r2 standard , and here the query works fine, without any issues.
below is the query from the logs:
select userorgani0_.id as id1_16_,
userorgani0_.authority as authorit2_16_,
userorgani0_.organization_module_id as organiza3_16_,
userorgani0_.user_id as user_id4_16_
from user_organization_module userorgani0_
where userorgani0_.organization_module_id='2c9e85c75a4025ed015a402b72040004'
and userorgani0_.user_id='1rhdhdwi22c23214kcskcsk'
Could you please help me here.
regards,
RVS

Same query times out - Lost connection to MySQL server during query

I know this question has been asked on here before, but it seems like I've tried everything suggested in this answer and this answer, and still no luck. I'm trying to use MySQL Workbench 6.3 on a Windows 10 client, connecting to a Linux MySQL server hosted by GoDaddy/cPanel.
I can connect to the MySQL server with no problems, and usually I have time to run a query or two. Then, within a minute of inactivity between Workbench and the server, I'll run into Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query. This even happens when running the exact same query, back to back about a minute apart, as shown here (even when the original query is quick; only 0.03 seconds to run):
The same problem persists when I run select sleep(60) immediately upon connecting to the MySQL Server; the connection is usually lost between 30-40 seconds into the execution of the query:
I've checked the MySQL docs, but with no luck. I don't think the problem can be related to packet size, as others have suggested (since the same query will work and then fail later), and my Workbench timeout settings look okay:
Anyone have any idea? The only other thing I can think of is maybe the wait_timeout variable listed in the MySQL docs needs to be increased too, but I guess that would be somewhere on the server side (some have mention my.ini) and I can't find where any MySQL Server files live in the cPanel hosting admin interface. There's a MySQL online client provided through cPanel (phpMyAdmin I think), but it's not nearly as robust and is becoming cumbersome to use. Any help would be appreciated!
I was having the same problem, using MySQL Workbench 6.3.6 on Win10 to connect to a MySQL server on a shared hosting system (Arvixe).
In addition to to the problem described by the OP (lost connection to server), I was also getting an error when attempting to import data from a prior export (similar to what is described here):
Unhandled exception: Error querying security information: Error executing 'SELECT * FROM mysql.user WHERE user = '[username]' and Host = '[host]' ORDER BY User, Host' SELECT command denied to user '[username]'#'[host]' for table 'user' SQL Error: 1142
Apparently, a bug was introduced in MySQL Workbench 6.3.5 (bug report). From the bug report:
It appears the problem arise if connecting with an user with no privileges on the mysql schema.
In other words: users connecting to a shared hosting system.
The proposed solution is to uninstall MySQL Workbench 6.3.6, and install 6.3.4 instead. (6.3.4 can be found in the archives). This solution worked for me.

MySQL 5.5 : "Got an error reading communication packets"

I just upgraded MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5.
I fixed few issues running mysql_upgrade, and changing some deprecated configurations...
I also updated PHP, from 5.3.3-7 to 5.3.29-1.
But, since that, I'm having a reccurent problem (always thrown in this order) :
1. Client* - PHP Warning
Warning: Packets out of order. Expected 1 received 0. Packet size=1 in
/home/www/www.mywebsite.com/shared/vendor/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Connection.php
line 694
2. Client* - PHP Warning
Warning: PDOStatement::execute() [pdostatement.execute]: Error reading
result set's header in
/home/www/www.mywebsite.com/shared/vendor/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Connection.php
line 694
3. Server* - MySQL Warning :
150127 17:25:15 [Warning] Aborted connection 309 to db:
'my_database' user: 'root' host: '127.0.0.1' (Got an error
reading communication packets)
4. Client* - PHP Error
PDOStatement::execute() [pdostatement.execute]: MySQL server
has gone away in
/home/www/www.mywebsite.com/shared/vendor/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Connection.php
line 694
*NB: What I call "Client" is the PHP Application, and "Server" is the MySQL Server, even if they're both on the same localhost Server.
So, apparently, the origin of all those problems is the first one : "Packets out of order".
But when I search for this error I can't find many answers, and they are most of the time not related to my problem : I use Doctrine as an abstraction, so I don't write any query or fetch any result myself. Plus, it's almost never the same values as me, but in my case I always get those values ("Expected 1 received 0. Packet size=1").
The closest result would be this MySQL bug report, but "No feedback was provided for this bug for over a month, so it is
being suspended automatically"...
Plus, some of the "2." errors aren't thrown by my PHP Doctrine code (they're not executed from my localhost, but from another known external service, probably using some old PHP Propel code).
So that might mean there is a problem with my MySQL configuration itself, but I tried changing some parameters without obtaining any obvious effect (sometimes it takes more time after restarting MySQL to get the first errors for example).
Any help would be very much appreciated !
And here is my current configuration (I've got 2 MySQL instances, the second one using replication is mostly for read only).
I also checked most of the system resources with Munin and didn't see anything abnormal (the RAM usage for example is pretty high, but as there is 50Go on the server it's not full at all).
UPDATE
I isolated an SQL query that was repeatedly failing from my PHP Client. When I executed from my local with MySQL Workbench, it did exactly the same (closed the connexion with a MySQL server has gone away message). When I did it from the sql command line it also did the same. Then I executed it from the sql command line on the server host, and it succeded. But some time after when I tried again from Workbench/whatever it worked... So it looks like those "corrupted packets" are cached and disapear after some time.
Thanks, I fixed this issue doing :
RESET QUERY CACHE;
FLUSH QUERY CACHE;

Error in configuring MySql workbench - Failed to connect to MySql at localhost

I am new to MySql workbench and never needed to use a lot of DBs before now.
I had an sql script containing all the DB creation, tables, population etc.
So using MySql workbench, I Reversed Engineering Using a Create Script.
Fine, it worked as I can see my tables.
Now I want perform some select over my data and I first need to create a new connection,
So I tried to Creating a MySQL Connection
but when I test the connection, I get the following error: "Failed to connect to MySql server on 127.0.0.1" (10061).
Question: what to use in the below menu (Connection/RemoteManagement/System Profile) or what else could be my problem?
my problem was that I didnt have a db, so I decided to use wampserver which includes everything and it's very simple to use.

MySql : wait_timeout & "mysql server has gone away" error message

I've a page which selects data from a table based on the primary key of the table
ex: SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE id=primary_key_value
As soon as I execute this from my CI page, I'm getting following error message
"Mysql server has gone away"
I searched in mysql reference manual, they are telling, its the cause of "wait_timeout" in configuration file. My configuration file has following settings
wait_timeout = 10
Could someone help me resolve this issue?
