Hello I am trying to pass a Looked-Up Value as drillthrough parameter to a subreport. I have two Datasets Dataset1 and Dataset2. My tablix looks like this
=Fields!Number.Value 'Column1 expression (Dataset1)
=Lookup(Fields!Number.Value, Fields!NumberKey.Value, Fields!Order.Value, "Dataset2") 'Column2 expression (Dataset2)

Now I want to use the value from Column2 as drillthrough parameter. Under the option Action -> Go to report I already tried different approaches, but none would work. For the parameter passing value I tried:
=Lookup(Fields!Number.Value, Fields!NumberKey.Value, Fields!Order.Value, "Dataset2")
=Lookup(Fields!Number.Value, Fields!NumberKey.Value, Fields!Order.Value, "Dataset2").Value
=Lookup(Fields!Number.Value, Fields!NumberKey.Value, Fields!Order.Value, "Dataset2").UniqueName
=ReportItems!OrderTextbox.Value
=ReportItems!OrderTextbox.UniqueName

I found the solution. The names of the parameters (internal) are different, because of the Lookup. The name of the parameter I passed is
[OrderDimension].[OrderNumber].&[001234]
the name of the subreport parameter is
[Orders].[OrderNr].&[001234]
This didnt work, even if the same value existed in both. I solved it when I wrote the passing parameter value like this
="[Orders].[OrderNr].&[" & Lookup(Fields!Number.Value, Fields!NumberKey.Value, Fields!Order.Value, "Dataset2") & "]"

In SSRS, I have a summary report, and when I click on any figures, it drills through a subreport that generate a list of skus.
I have setup the cells in the summary report and selected all Parameter for the drill through report.
For a multi-value parameter in the subreport, I want to manually select 2 out of 3 available values.
In the textbox property, under Action and parameters, What is the expression to specify the values I want to pass to my subreport?
1,2 - If your parameter is a integer. Don't use the expression with an equals sign, just 1,2 in the parameter value.
If your parameter is a string, I believe you need to double the double quotes.
""1"",""2""
You could also use the SPLIT function to create a string array from the hard-coded values:
=Split("1,2", ",")
Neither formula worked, but at the end, I just modified the list of available value on the subreport and added another value. Then, in the dataset query, I adjusted the WHERE clause so that when the paramater has said value, the field IN ("1","2")

my report i need to loop through the whole dataset and have to print the like below
Amex(1), Discover(2), citi(3)
The dataset will take a multivalued parameter consider it as
id( 1,2,3)
How can i display the values in my report as
Amex(1), Discover(2), citi(3)
i tried this route, but didnt had any luck.

Try to write expression for the textbox:
=(Field!Value.Value)+" ("+Cstr(Field!ID.Value)+")"
I have a multi value parameter I get from a query. I pass it to my dataset and it works like a champ. The dataset parameter uses join, i.e., =JOIN(Parameters!CodeList.Value,",").
So far so good. However when I pass this to a subreport, the subreport seems to only "get" the first item in the list instead of the string.
Also, if I put a textbox on my main report that looks at the CodeList parameter, i.e., =Parameters!CodeList.Value(0), I just see the first item. Using JOIN here returns an error.
I clearly don't get something here. Any available illumination?:)
How about this ?
=Parameters!CodeList.Value(0) gives you the first selected parameter value
=Parameters!CodeList.Value(1) gives you the second selected parameter value
so on
&
Join(Parameters!CodeList.Value,",")
will give you the all selected value for the parameter seperated by ,
Condition is, parameter should exists lol'z.
Assuming that you want it to behave identically to your dataset in this report (I.E. you want to send a string containing all the values in your parameter separated by a comma), you just need to pass the same thing to the SubReport's parameter:
=JOIN(Parameters!CodeList.Value,",")
If what you actually want is for the Parameter in your SubReport to have the same values as the Parameter in your main report, you need to pass:
=Parameters!CodeList.Value
Note the absence of the (0) at the end. The (0) on the end of it will cause it to pass only the first value in the parameter which isn't what you're after.
I'm very confused by this situation, i've written quite a few IIF statements and always get them to work. I have two columns in my dataset called CATEGORY and PCT, what i'm trying to do is return the PCT value for only one specific value in CATEGORY.
For example, I have the following table of data
Category PCT
A .50
B .75
I have placed a textbox on my report and have written the following expression to return the PCT value if Category = B, like so:
=IIF(Fields!Category.Value = "B", Fields!PCT.Value, " ")
For some reason this expression returns empty every single time. When I just put Fields!Category.Value in the textbox as a test then the value A returns which is as expected.
I'm really thrown-off by this and I know i'm missing something very simple - can someone help?
Its important that we understand the context of the textbox as the expression seems valid.
If you placed a single textbox on your report and used your above expression (with references to the datasets) ONLY the first row of your dataset will be evaluated. In which case the expression will always evaluate to the same result.
Can you confirm that the control you are using is indeed a textbox? If it is then i believe you do need a reference to the dataset and the expression will look more like this:
=iif(First(Fields!Category.Value, "datasetName") = "B", First(Fields!PCT.Value, "datasetName"), " ")
This would only evaluate the first row in your dataset.
If you were to do this in a tablix using your original expression then it should work.
Customer wants me to repeat the parameter values in the page header of the report. But if they just choose "Select All" on a multi-valued parameter, they want the text "Any" listed.
For example, one parameter has a fixed set of 9 values. I hard-coded the expression for a text box to:
="Room Size: " &
iif(Parameters!pRoomCap.Count=9,
"Any",
Join(Parameters!pRoomCap.Value, ", "))
How can I do this if the parameter source is a query of unknown size?
Try this out. You need to compare the total number of parameters in the dataset to the count of selected parameters. The following assumes that your multivalue parameter is using a dataset called "dsRoomSizes"
="Room Size: "
& iif(Parameters!pRoomCap.Count = count(Fields!pRoomCap.Value,"dsRoomSizes"),
"Any",
Join(Parameters!pRoomCap.Value, ", "))
This expression will work in the page header/footer.
UPDATE
In the interests of finding a solution to your problem, the following should work for you. It feels hackish and I encourage you to keep research alternative methods but this will work:
Create a second multivalue parameter and name it something like "pRoomCap_hidden".
The source of the parameter is the exact same query
In the parameter properties, setting the default values to the same query
Important: Set the parameter visibility to hidden
This will create a second multivalue parameter in your report that is exactly the same as your initial multivalue parameter only this parameter list will have all values selected by default.
Enter the following expression in a textbox in your header:
=IIF(Parameters!pRoomCap.Count = Parameters!pRoomCap_hidden.Count,"All",Join(Parameters!ReportParameter1.Value,", "))
The above will compare the selected values in each parameter list. If the lists contain the same selected values then that indicates that "All" have been selected in the first list.
Like I said, it is hackish but it definitely works. Until you are upgraded to 2008, this might not be a bad workaround for you.
Can you compare the count of the parameter to the count of the dataset you pull the parameter values from?
I unioned my dataset for the parameters with one which I created manually with a "select" statement - I was then able to force the value to be something like -1 or null.
Then simply check if the parameter contains -1 or null and replace the value in the header with the replacement text.
BTW- I am now using SSRS 2008 R2 and this solution worked for me. My report uses three datasets; but only one in the tabilx that I needed to hide a row in. After long hours of searching and many, many, many unhelpful for wrong answers; the solution of creating a identical parameter only hidden (I marked it as internal) and then comparing to the exposed one is brilliant and easy.
