I have a bootstrap panel in which I am setting the opacity, but it is not working.
Background image is all set good. But a panel in the side needs to be transparent... rather translucent (50%). Its not happening. I have tried the opacity.
Below is the code:
<div class="col-lg-4 col-md-4 col-sm-4">
<div class="panel panel-primary halfOpacity">
<div class="panel-body">
<!-- <div class="card border-primary mb-3">
<div class="card-block special-card"> -->
<p>
<div class="image" style="text-align:center;">
<img src="dise-resized.png" alt="DISE">
</div>
</p>
<p><br></p>
<p>
<div class="input-group">
<span class="input-group-addon info">Username:</span>
<input type="text" id="username" name="username" class="form-control" placeholder="Enter NTID" required>
</div>
</p>
<p>
<div class="input-group">
<span class="input-group-addon info">Password:</span>
<input type="password" id="password" name="password" class="form-control" placeholder="Enter password" required>
</div>
</p>
<p>
<button class="btn btn-primary btn-block" type="submit">Login</button>
</p>
<!--</div>
</div> -->
</div>
</div>
</div>
And the CSS looks like:
div.halfOpacity {
opacity: 0.6;
filter: alpha(opacity=60); /* For IE8 and earlier */
}
Below is the screenshot what it looks like now.
I need the white background to be translucent.
You can use !important sometimes some classes cuz this problem or try backgroud-color:transparent
div.halfOpacity {
opacity: 0.6 !important;
// or background-color:transparent;
}

The button extends out past the div between small and medium (576-768) screens. Cannot figure out why.

There's no CSS specific to the form.
Attribute style="overflow: hidden" on that button div should work, hope it helps.
I have a list group in a card. When you hover over the topmost list group item, a border appears under it (no border when not hovering). When I set :hover override in Google Chrome's Dev Tools, the border doesn't appear. Why does this happen?
https://jsfiddle.net/williamqin123/0fkwsemn/
<div class="container">
<div class="shadow-sm card my-5">
<div class="list-group list-group-flush">
<div class="text-center list-group-item">
<h1 class="text-left d-inline-block mb-0">
Submit
<small class="text-muted">Create your ad in less than 1 minute</small>
</h1>
</div>
<form action="/submit" method="POST" class="mb-0">
<div class="form-group list-group-item">
<label for="site">Site</label>
<div class="input-group" id="site-menu">
<select class="form-control text-center" name="site" id="site" required>
</select>
<div class="btn-group-toggle input-group-append" data-toggle="buttons">
<label class="btn btn-outline-primary">
<input type="checkbox" name="meta" value='checked'> Meta
</label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group list-group-item">
<label for="post-id">Post ID</label>
<div class="input-group">
<div class="input-group-prepend">
<span class="input-group-text" id="basic-addon1">#</span>
</div>
<input class="form-control text-center" type="number" min="1" step="1" name="id" id="post-id" required>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group text-center list-group-item">
<input class="btn btn-primary btn-lg" type="submit" value="Proceed">
</div>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
There is a border on the element:
.list-group-item {
position: relative;
margin-bottom: -1px;
border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,.125);
}
You can't see it initially because the negative margin makes the next element shift upwards (by 1px) and overlap it.
This code...
.list-group-item:hover {
z-index: 1;
}
...adds a new stacking context, making it appear in front, and allows you to see the border.
<div class="row">
<div class="container">

After this code i got scroll bar in my browser so i inspect and found that if i make change
.row { margin-right: 0;}
it is just fine. It is nothing to do with my css i removed my css and tried. so should i change the value of .row all the time which is provided by bootstrap? default value is
.row{margin-right: -15px;}
EDIT: Code is formatted like code now
As mentioned in Bootstrap docs, container should be a top level wrapping class, which should contain class row. You've swapped these classes. I think this is the reason of issue.
First rule of bootstrap introduction says:
Rows must be placed within a .container (fixed-width) or .container-fluid (full-width) for proper alignment and padding.
Code should look:
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-4 col-md-offset-4">
<div class="login-wrapper">
<div class="login-head">
<h3 class="text-center"> Log in </h3>
</div>
<form>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="email" class="sr-only"> Email </label>
<input type="text" placeholder="email here" class="form-control">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="email" class="sr-only"> Password </label>
<input type="text" placeholder="Password here" class="form-control">
</div>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-danger center-block"> Login </button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I have this problem whereby my page style with bootstrap div container for the sign in forms and top portion logo, this part however covered or blank out my intended background image styled using CSS

}
and my the 2 containers where I place a logo on top and the sign in form in the middle

</div><!--set alignment-->
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-4"></div><!--right column of the page-->
</div><!--row-->
</div> <!-- /container -->
And there photo of it screen shot
Appreciate if anyone be able to help out
Thanks
By default the background-color of body is set to white.
So when you style your html the body is not targeted and still white.
You might instead want to try using
html, body {
/* Your CSS goes here */
}
This should solve your problem.
The following is the code for the form which I wrote:
<div class="container-fluid" id="unlabelled">
<p class="bg-primary">Items<span>Quantity</span><span>In Kit</span></p>
<form>
<div class="form-group col-lg-5">
<input type="text" class="form-control" id="unlabelled-items" placeholder="Enter code or description">
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-2">
<input type="text" class="form-control" id="quantity" placeholder="Enter Quantity">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<input type="checkbox" id="in-kit">
<button class="btn-primary" id="add-btn">Add</button>
</div>
</form>
</div>
I am using bootstrap here. And I have the top paragraph heading with a class="bg-primary" which gives a nice background for the heading. I have two text input fields, a checkbox and a button. I want to align the text in the above paragraph with these fields.
https://imgur.com/XinA1kT
I want the Items text to be aligned in center with the first text field, Quantity with the second text field and the In kit with the check box.
As you can see in my code, I added span tags around the text. I experimented with it by adding margin properties to these span tags, but it didn't work properly. I tried a bunch of it works okay but I atleast need 15 to 20 of them which even didn't solve my problem.
Is there any alternative for this? I could even try other alternatives for the p tag too.
Thank you.
This can at least get you started, it's just rows and columns and some minor CSS. The problem you'll have is on a mobile device, if you want this to remain completely horizontal it'll start to break down.

You need to put your text descriptors into columns that match with the columns for you inputs. Like this:
<div class="container-fluid" id="unlabelled">
<p class="bg-primary">
<div class="row">
<div class="form-group col-md-5"> Items</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-2">Quantity</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-2">In Kit</div>
</div>
</p>
<form>
<div class="form-group col-md-5">
<input type="text" class="form-control" id="unlabelled-items" placeholder="Enter code or description">
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-2">
<input type="text" class="form-control" id="quantity" placeholder="Enter Quantity">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<div class="form-group col-md-2">
<input type="checkbox" id="in-kit">
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-2">
<button class="btn-primary" id="add-btn">Add</button>
</div>
</div>
</form>
</div>
