Bootstrap CDN not working - html

I am trying to embed bootstrap to an html file. I copied and pasted the links directly from their website and have also embedded the newest version of jQuery. The font styles seem to be correct, but the navbar and other classes are not working properly. Below is my code as well as a screenshot of the results.

The navbar is one that I copied directly from bootstrap's documentation.
Also, as you can see, there are no errors in the console

You have accidently copied a Bootstrap Theme instead of the actual bootstrap :)
Try using the CDN in https://www.w3schools.com/bootstrap/tryit.asp?filename=trybs_navbar&stacked=h. That seems to work fine.

Bootstrap template design and navbar problem

I am new with html and bootstrap but I tried to create a bootstrap template, actually I tried to make a test theme by downloading the "starter template" code from getbootstrap.com, but when I launch the code or even when I make some changes the navigation bar and design looks horrible. Even when I am not changing anything the design and navigation bar looks horrible.
Here is my code:
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

<link rel="stylesheets" href="css/app.css">
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
<div class="container">
<div class="navbar-header">
<button type="button" class="navbar-toggle collapsed" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbar" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="navbar">
<span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
</button>
<a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Test theme</a>
</div>
<div id="navbar" class="collapse navbar-collapse">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="active">Home</li>
<li>About</li>
<li>Contact</li>
</ul>
</div><!--/.nav-collapse -->

</nav>
<div class="container">
<div class="starter-template">

When you use bootstrap you need to properly hook it up. Here more about it Below simple example(Navbar) with properly link Bootstrap 5.

Bootstrap toggle icon not showing

I am learning bootstrap and trying to make a navbar but the navbar toggler hamburger icon doesn't show up. A portion of the code I currently have is below. Thank you.

<div class="container-fluid">
<div class="navbar navbar-expand-md">
<a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Brand</a>
<button class="navbar-toggler" data-toggle="collapse">
<span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>

<div class="collapse navbar-collapse">
<ul class="navbar-nav ml-auto">
<li class="nav-item">

<li class="nav-item">

<li class="nav-item">

</li>
The bootstrap .navbar-toggler-icon styling will depend on what theme your navbar would be. For example try using navbar-light on your navbar this will produce the hamburger with rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.5) stroke.

I made sure to copy everything properly and I double checked wether I linked the bootstrap right, but it's still not working and it's not showing the layout as it should. Not sure what do do. Haven't had problems like this before. Thanks in advance.

You seem to be missing the Bootstrap CSS loadsheet in your <head>.
I'm not sure if you're trying to use a package manager instead, but I would 100% recommend their CDN instead.
Copy this:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.0/css/bootstrap.min.css" integrity="sha384-9aIt2nRpC12Uk9gS9baDl411NQApFmC26EwAOH8WgZl5MYYxFfc+NcPb1dKGj7Sk" crossorigin="anonymous">
I've just tested it and it works. Hope that helps?

Bootstrap 4 navbar not collapsing or expanding

I am working on teaching myself web development, and I thought what a better way than to start my own personal web page.
I have run into an issue working with Bootstrap 4 and the navbar.
I can get the list, and the icon to show up when the window shrinks, but I can't get it to expand, or toggle collapse. I've even copied and pasted some code from the bootstrap documentation to see what I'm doing wrong and even then it doesn't work.
I've tried on both firefox and chrome, and on both, I am still unable to toggle the collapse with the icon button.
Here's the code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="description" content="Heath's Personal Website">
<meta name="keywords" content="heath, blandford, heath blandford">

<button class="navbar-toggler" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarTop" aria-controls="navbar" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="Toggle navigation">
<span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
</button>
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarTop">
<ul class="navbar-nav mr-auto">

<li class="nav-item"><a class="nav-link" href="#social">Social Media</a> </li>
</ul>
</div>
</nav>

Although you've imported the Bootstrap CSS, you've neglected to import the required JavaScript.
Importing Bootstrap's JavaScript and the required dependencies (jQuery and Popper.JS) will cause your navigation to toggle correctly.
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.2.1/jquery.min.js"></script>

put the logout button in a form.form-inline like in the official docs, and the button is no longer stretched.
