raspbian stretch 1609 manual update with 1804 binary installer does not work - ejabberd

i tried to install 1804 parallel to the 1609 stretch package, that works, but i can't restore the old database, i get this error:
$ ./ejabberdctl restore /var/lib/ejabberd/ejabberd.backup
Can't restore backup from "/var/lib/ejabberd/ejabberd.backup" at node ejabberd#raspberrypi: Table config does not exist."
Is there a solution for this?

Alternatively, you can simply copy the old spool directory to the new location. When ejabberd starts, it detects a database with old schema, and updates whatever required.

Why when I start phpmyadmim this writting appears?

I start on Xammp Apache and MySQL but when I click on admin instead of opening the phpmyadmin page I see this writing:
Composer detected issues in your platform: Your Composer dependencies require the following PHP extensions to be installed: mysqli, openssl
What I have to do in order to solve this issue.
p.s. I imagine that I have to install this two files but in which folder I have to put them?
It appears to be a problem with the XAMPP version 8.0.3 and the suggested solution was to reinstall XAMPP using the version 7.3.27. Also, try clear the cache before re-installing the XAMPP
Uninstall XAMPP 8.0.3
Got to Local disk (C)
Delete file xampp
Clear cache memory on webpage
Right click Local Disk (C) > Properties > Disk Cleaup > Check all > Ok
Install xampp 7.3.27

I had (maybe) the same issue. I first installed 8.x and then installed 7.4, but that didn't help.
When I tried to run the php.exe it showed an error on line 736 inside the php.ini.
I guess the problem was that XAMPP was installed to a location where a folder contained a space (Program Files (x86)). Under line 736 (maybe different for you) inside the php.ini the path was not put inside apostrophes. Slap some apostrophes on there and it should work.

In my case,
I am facing such an issue when I have changed my php.ini (.../xampp/php.ini).
There are three php.ini files as
php.ini
php.ini-production
php.ini-development
I have replaced the php.ini file to php.ini-backup and rename php.ini-production to php.ini
so I have replaced back my php.ini-backup to php.ini and the issue is gone.

but forgot to mention 1 main point (multiple installs)
this appears when this version of xampp is installed multiple times (without un-installing the previous).
uninstall the xampp being shown in programs list (programs and features).
restrated pc.
then deleted all the directories of xampp (may they be on any drive).
if the data is important, rename all xampp directories.
restarted pc.
installed xampp again.
-- thats all.

Scilab, backdoor error, octave conflict

I installed scilab.6.0.0 and backdoor fromscilab website (which I could not find it from Application>Module maneger>atom>Technical). I moved the backdoor file my home and from scilab command line I installed it
-->atomsInstall('/home/user/BackDoor_0.2_5.5.bin.x86_64.linux.tar.gz')
Even though, it installed backdoor successfully, when I restart the scilab I got this error message with backdoor
Start Toolbox BackDoor
Load macros
atomsLoad: An error occurred while loading 'BackDoor-0.2':
lib: Old binary lib detected. Please recompile it for Scilab 6.
As I understand I need to update the library, but I don't know how?
Would sb tell me explicitly (because I am a newbie user of scilab) how can I get over the error?
at the and I try to connect octave and scilab and when I try to run a demo script at octave I get also this error

FYI: I already installed sci_cosim package (after I downloaded the package, I write to octave prompt >>pkg install sci_cosim_0.1.3.tar.gz), and I load it before running the script.

Here's what worked for me.
Download Scilab 5.5.2 (link for Linux 64bit version)
Extract the .tar.gz file in your preferred system location to install it there. Generally, my preferred location to extract / install self-contained packages is inside /opt .
You can extract the .tar.gz file using your filebrowser's graphical facilities, or on the command line; if /opt is owned by root (which it usually is) you may need to change ownership after extraction. E.g. your installation might look something like this:
cd /opt
sudo wget http://www.scilab.org/download/5.5.2/scilab-5.5.2.bin.linux-x86_64.tar.gz
sudo tar -xvzf ./scilab-5.5.2.bin.linux-x86_64.tar.gz
sudo rm scilab-5.5.2.bin.linux-x86_64.tar.gz
sudo chown $USER ./scilab-5.5.2 -R
Launch scilab by typing
/opt/scilab-5.5.2/bin/scilab &
in your terminal.
Once scilab is launched, go to Applications->Module Manager ATOMS. In the new window that comes up, click on All modules -> BackDoor -> Install.
You should get a message saying "Installation done, please restart SciLab".
Exit Scilab, and launch it again from the terminal. If you see a message:
atomsLoad: An error occurred while loading 'BackDoor-0.2':
File "/opt/scilab-5.5.2/share/scilab/contrib/BackDoor/0.2/etc/backdoor.start" does not exist.
then type the following commands in your terminal to rename the affected files:
cd /opt/scilab-5.5.2/share/scilab/contrib/BackDoor/0.2/etc/
mv BackDoor.start backdoor.start
mv BackDoor.quit backdoor.quit
Restart SciLab again. Hopefully this time it will work and SciLab will inform you that BackDoor is listening for connections at a certain port.
PS. Also note that from the octave side of things, the -auto option is no longer accepted when you perform a pkg install. You will need to load the sockets and sci_cosim packages manually each time you want to use this.

How to install a light version on mysql

I install mysql with a batch file, but the mysql install file 'mysql-installer-community-5.7.11.0.msi' is so big : 387MB.
Does a mysql light version exist ?
The computer does not have internet so the mysql-installer-web-community is not recommended for me.

Download MySQL as zip archive---a so-called noinstall archive---and see what you can strip off. When finished, repackage the remaining file into a much smaller zip.
Candidates for deletion include:
bin/mysqld.pdb (~160 MB): debug symbols
embedded server libraries (~1,05 GB):
lib/mysqlserver.lib
lib/libmysqld.dll
lib/libmysqld.lib
lib/plugin/debug/* (~180 MB)
this post indicates you could even remove the whole lib folder
(Note that I did not test if the installation actually succeeds without these files)
Repackaging with Ultra compression (7zip) gives me a 110 MB zip file.
On the target machine, just follow the installation instructions for noinstall archives. They go well together with a batch-based installation.

Bazaar branch default location

I started downloading a MySQL branch using bazaar. However, I stopped the download after around 800 MB and created a shared repository in which I wish to re-download it again.
How do I remove the already downloaded 800MB file? Thanks in advance.
PS: I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, MySQL 5.5.37 and latest stable release of Bazaar.
After you interrupted the download, if you don't see a directory created then there's nothing to delete, Bazaar handled the interrupt and cleaned up after itself.
If it created something then just delete it with rm -r.

adding RMySQL package to R fails (on Windows)?

I can't figure out why my RMySQL package won't install - here's what I get:

I don't think it's a problem with the MySQL install, as the right values seem to be in the registry:

The basic process is described here, but there are several hints, So I will describe the whole solution (please change the R version and paths if needed):
Install latest RTools from here
install MySQL or header and library files of mysql
create or edit file C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.1\etc\Renviron.site and add line like MYSQL_HOME=C:/mysql (path to your mysql files)
copy libmysql.lib from mysql/lib to mysql/lib/opt to meet dependencies.
copy libmysql.dll to C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.1\bin or to windows/system32 directory.
run install.packages('RMySQL',type='source') and wait while compilation will end.
This worked for me on Windows 7 64 bit, so there should be no problems with 32 bit versions

Then, ensure that you actually have a MySQL client on your computer, not just the server itself. I've had a problem myself where I had to use an older binary for the client, but you can download these from mysql website.

I basically followed all these directions, including the ones at the Vanderbilt page, but for one reason or another it doesn't always seem to work. Anyway, hope this might be helpful for people who have the same versions of stuff I used.
I was having this same problem on Windows 7 with R 2.12.1 x64 and resolved it by:
Changing the R directory in my PATH variable to C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.1\bin\x64 (rather than just ...\R-2.12.1\bin).
Copying ...\MySQL Server 5.5\lib\libmysql.dll to ...\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\.
Running R CMD INSTALL RMySQL_0.7-5.tar.gz in cmd.exe (install.packages('RMySQL',type='source') in R still would not work).

As Marek said. There is no windows binary for this package. I had similar troubles on my Mac when I tried to install RPostgreSQL (because there's no binary for Mac) in the end I had to compile it on my own and modify several files.
For the MySQL part(if you don't know much about MySQL), you might want to use WAMP which is admittedly more than you need, but easy to install and to start and shut down.

You however there is one additional requirement at present (with the MySQL server version 5.5 & R2.12.1) follow thehttp://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/wiki/Main/RMySQL instructions at present as the locations of the libmySQL.dll differs to what is expected in the package.
i.e. for the 64bit compiling.
it expects the libmySQL.dll to be in "${MYSQL_HOME}"/bin/libmySQL.dll
so simply copy the dll over to the /bin dir and it will now compile.
for the 32bit compilling.
the libmySQL.lib is expected in "${MYSQL_HOME}"/lib/opt/libmysql.lib
again moving this should solve the problem.
Alternatively, if you don't want to or can't move these files. Then you can edit the source code files:
Makevars.win
Makevars.win32
Makevars.win64
appropriately pointing to /lib/libmysql.dll /lib/libmysql.lib

DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE FROM THE FOLLOWING LINKS:

b. RTools 214: Download RTools from http://cran.cict.fr
c. RMySQL 0.8-0.tar.gz: Download RMySQL from

d. MySQL Server 5.0: download it from http://dev.mysql.com

18 months later, new laptop, same problem. Returning to the scene of the crime - sorry January 2011 self; we're in the future, and this installation still isn't any fun.
Lessons learned:
-Updated RTools are essential. Get them.
-Are you seeing an error along the lines of .onLoad failed in loadNamespace() for 'RMySQL', details? This seems to mean that there's a problem with your system environment variables.
In R, run
Sys.getenv('MYSQL_HOME')
If it spits back a path like
[1] "C:\\Program Files\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.6"
you're good. But if it gives you empty string, you need to set this.
These are all Windows 7 directions, but the process is pretty similar in XP, if memory serves.
1) Bring up System Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables.
2) In the lower 'System Variables' pane, click 'New'.
3) Variable name is MYSQL_HOME and value is whatever the path is to your MySQL installation - mine was C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6
Newer versions of MySQL don't seem to create an environment variable on install - that and the lack of binaries for RMySQL explain why this questions has garnered 8,000 hits.
