I had this same problem just yesterday and to fix it you need to remove the data-toggle="dropdown" from the Testing menu parent span.
So change the
<span class="dropdown-toggle" id="navbarDropdownMenuLink" data-toggle="dropdown">
Testing Menu
</span>
to
<span class="dropdown-toggle" id="navbarDropdownMenuLink">
Testing Menu
</span>
Just be cautious about the hovers, especially on mobile menu. If you have a separate clickable caret then it should be fine.

Just put the <a> element outside of the <span> element. That should fix your issue. Like that:
Testing Menu
<span class="dropdown-toggle" id="navbarDropdownMenuLink" data-toggle="dropdown">
</span>
I tested it and it should work.

I am using Bootstrap 5 and I used the <span> tag to add a separate link to the dropdown text. Here is an example that worked for me. I hope this example will help you.
<li class="nav-item dropdown">
<span class="nav-link">
<a href="https://www.google.com/"
style="">Training</a>
<a class="dropdown-toggle" href="#" id="dropdown05" data-bs-toggle="dropdown"
aria-expanded="false"></a>
<ul class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="dropdown05">
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Item 01</a></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Item 02</a></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Item 03</a></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Item 04</a></li>
</ul>
</span>
</li>
The full example is given below.
.my-dropdown-link{
color: rgba(0,0,0,.55);
text-decoration:none;
}
<html>

Snippet from: https://codepen.io/bhanuka94/pen/poPVwrG

If the the dropdowns parent href is replaced by #, track down the following in bootstrap navwalker;
// If item has_children add atts to <a>.
if ( isset( $args->has_children ) && $args->has_children && 0 === $depth && $args->depth !== 1 ) {
$atts['href'] = '#;
$atts['data-toggle'] = 'dropdown';
$atts['aria-haspopup'] = 'true';
$atts['aria-expanded'] = 'false';
$atts['class'] = 'dropdown-toggle nav-link';
$atts['id'] = 'menu-item-dropdown-' . $item->ID;
} else {
(...)
}
Replace
$atts['href'] = '#';
with
$atts['href'] = ! empty( $item->url ) ? $item->url : '#';
The parents url will now remain untouched and clickable. If you have already enabled dropdown on hover you are all set. If not you would either need to do so, or to make the URL clickable only when the dropdown is expanded. (See: Bootstrap 4 - Keeping Parent of Dropdown a clickable link )

if the link tag use data attributes that should be remove,
in my case i have
<a class="dropdown-item" href="www.example.com" data-toggle="modal" data-
target="#logoutModal">
<i class="fas fa-sign-out-alt fa-sm fa-fw mr-2 text-gray-400"></i> Logout
</a>
i just changed it to
<a class="dropdown-item" href="www.example.com">
<i class="fas fa-sign-out-alt fa-sm fa-fw mr-2 text-gray-400"></i> Logout
</a>

Hello community of Stackoverflow. This bootstrap header doesn't dropdown on mobile devices. I have the JS and CSS, and I really don't know what do. Can someone help? Replace the "/" with atproducts.xyz since it triggered the spam filter.
The issue is in your local css. I've replace this rows
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/static/nav.css"> <!—secondary bootstrap code—!>

With the official bootstrap CDN and it works.
So your page should be

I've also moved the script at the bottom, before the body closing .
Add the following code to your <head> tag and it will work. Also do not download the single file of bootstrap instead download the whole bootstrap and then include it in your project.
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
...
</head>
Also move the bootstrap JS link to the end of your <body> tag.
<body>
...
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>
</body>

Why is my Bootstrap navbar dropdown not displaying?

I am trying to make a Bootstrap navbar that will display the items that can be seen in the code. All of my other links work and take me to their respected pages, but whenever I hit the dropdown in the navbar nothing happens. It is the dropdown portion that I can not get to work and I am not sure what else I need to add. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
This is Bootstrap5
<nav class="navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-dark" style="background-color: #4f2fb6;">

<div class="dropdown-divider"></div>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Separated link</a>
</div>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
I dont have any error message.
When i click to my drop down menu, nothing happens. The inner element are not appearing.
I am trying to not use css, but only bootstrap. I chosed to use this template:
https://bootswatch.com/materia/
What am I mistaking?
In the future how can i debug in the developer mode in mozilla?
I imagine the issue is not having the correct javaScript packages installed. I had this when I first used Bootstrap, and I was missing popper.js

Bootstrap 4 Split Navbar - Responsive Dropdown Below not Beside

I have a navbar with a split dropdown. The particular portion of the HTML I'm interested in is this:
<li class="nav-item">
<div class="btn-group">
Blog
<a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle dropdown-toggle-split" id="dropdownMenuLink_blog" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
<span class="sr-only">Toggle Dropdown for Blog Links</span>
</a>
<div class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right" aria-labelledby="dropdownMenuLink_blog">
<div class="dropdown-header">Categories | Blog Main</div>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="http://bhastings.com/blog?cat=20" target="_blank"><small><em>Articles for Everyone</em></small></a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="http://bhastings.com/blog?cat=8" target="_blank"><small><em>Access to Justice Commentary</em></small></a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="http://bhastings.com/blog?cat=5" target="_blank"><small><em>Law Commentary</em></small></a>

<a class="dropdown-item" href="http://bhastings.com/blog?cat=36" target="_blank"><small><em>Technology</em></small></a>

</li>
And the entire navbar looks like this:
<nav class="navbar navbar-toggleable-sm fixed-top">
<button class="navbar-toggler navbar-toggler-right" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarNavDropdown" aria-controls="navbarNavDropdown" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="Toggle navigation">

The result is something like this in small screens:
Having a split link in a navbar is a bit hacky to begin with, but notwithstanding that, I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to get the dropdown to pop back "in line" so that it looks more like the "More" dropdown:
?
Thanks in advance! :)
Just add container class in the btn-group div.
The misalignment is because of the btn-group class is defined as flex item. Try adding container class, it may solve the issue.
<div class="container p-0 btn-group">

The HTML below works when you expand a collapsed navbar!
Bootstrap: 5.0.0-beta2
<li class="nav-item col-6 col-md-auto">
<!-- NOTE: d-table on the group and nav-link d-inline for the inner <a> tags is a must for split button to work properly when collapsed/expanded -->
<div class="btn-group d-table nav-link p-2">
<a class="nav-link d-inline">Dropdown link</a>
<a class="nav-link d-inline" role="button" data-bs-toggle="dropdown">
<i class="far fa-caret-square-down"></i>
</a>
<ul class="dropdown-menu ">
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Action</a></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Another action</a></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Something else here</a></li>
<li><hr class="dropdown-divider"></li>
<li><a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Separated link</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
</li>
I guess this isn't a very clean answer but I added some margin and it does the job. But can't wait to see a better solution.
#media (max-width: 992px) {
.dropdown-menu {
margin:35px 0 0 -150px;
}
}

Bootstrap-4 no padding nav

<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="nav-item-dropdown">
<a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" href="#" role="button" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
SLIDES
</a>
<div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="Preview">
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Événements Importants</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Rappels des bonnes pratiques</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Ecran Sonar</a>
</div>
</li>
<li class="nav-item-dropdown">
<a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" href="#" role="button" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
BANDEAU
</a>
<div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="Preview">
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Rappel CRA</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Visite Client</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Nouvelle version</a>
</div>
</li>
<li class="nav-item">
<a class="nav-link" href="#">POP-UP</a>
</li>
</ul>
Here's my code
The problem is that there's no padding, is it normal ? Here's a picture of what it renders :

Other problem is that it can display you 2 links on the same line :/
I fail to make your dropdown work, but you can add some padding to your a elements like this:
In HTML:
...
<a class="dropdown-item pad15" href="#">Événements Importants</a>
...
In CSS:
.pad15 {
padding: 15px;
}
It is very simple, but I guess it is what you are looking for.
UPDATE: Without CSS file
...
<a class="dropdown-item" style="padding:15px;" href="#">Événements Importants</a>
...
