how to free a localhost port on mac - google-chrome

I have read the posts similar to this but to no avail.
I am in the midst of a comprehensive tutorial for Angular (5). I am on MacOs High Sierra 10.13.3. I am using Chrome Version 64.0.3282.140 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I just completed one project in the tutorial. I am now trying to complete the next project in the tutorial. The project is set to use the default port 4200 on localhost. All of the projects have executed this way.
I have performed my npm install. My npm start script is simple, = "ng serve". I enter npm start and it serves up the project as expected. I then go to my browser and enter the address localhost:4200. The previous project renders. I can't get the current project to render. These are the things I have tried to remedy the situation:
sudo lsof -i tcp:4200
changing the start script to ng serve --port 4300 and then using the address localhost:4300 (tried it with 5000 too)
Actually the first thing I did was look for an active activity on port 4200 in the Activity Monitor
Clear my Chrome browsing history
Restart my computer.
Tried the same process using Firefox as a browser
Tried it using Brave as a browser
In each and every case when I enter localhost:(anything) I get the previous project. Any ideas?

If I could delete this question I would. I discovered the problem.
I only THOUGHT I was pointing to the new project. In reality, I was pointing at the old project. THAT is why the same thing kept coming up and that is why nothing I tried would work.
I am embarrassed. Clearly, I am still a rookie. I hope no one spent any time on this.

google-chrome browser not loaded filtered websites when vpn is on, but public ip changed

my conditions:
I live in Iran and many websites are filtered by the government.
us windows and ubnutu22.04 OS.
use last google-chrome browser.
use VPNs (OpenVPN and open connect).
**My problem: **
when I am in Linux and VPN is on, Mozilla-firefox is ok and works properly, but my goolge-chrome not working for filtered websites, and working for others.
A strange problem is that my public IP changed to another country and I tested it by my IP address website and two more related sites.
It is worth noting that this problem does not occur in windows's chrome.
What I did:
I removed google-chrome completely by sudo apt purge google-chrome && rm -rf ~/.config/google-chrome and reinstalled the last version.
My question is that, How is it possible and why does it occur, please help me.

Why is shadow-cljs returning this error message on "Stale Output"? How to guarantee the watch for this building is running?

I am new to Clojure and not a pro in Javascript. I am watching the free part of the course on Reagent.
Following the instructions on the course's repo, after doing the git clone and the npm install, the author indicates running $ npm run dev. Everything seems to work fine. I can see the app on my http://localhost:3000/.
The favicon with the app's logo and its name is loaded on the corner of the browser's tab:
However, on the bottom of the web page, there is this error message from shadow-cljs:
shadow-cljs - Stale Output! Your loaded JS was not produced by the
running shadow-cljs instance. Is the watch for this build running?
Why is this happening? How should I fix it?
How to guarantee that the watch for this building is running?
Is there a simple command to run on terminal to check this?
Obs. 1: If this is relevant, my operational system is NixOS and this is my config file.
Obs. 2: I am not sure if this question is connected to my previous question on npm and Cider (Emacs IDE for Clojure) that happened while working with this same repo.
It is likely that this is due to you running npm run dev AND cider-jack-in.
I don't use emacs, so I'm not exactly sure what cider-jack-in does, but I believe it launches a new JVM. Since the npm run dev also did that you end up with two running JVMs, which also means two running shadow-cljs instances. That is not ideal and they will start interfering with each other leading to errors such as yours.
So, either you run npm run dev and use emacs to connect to that server. cider-connect or whatever is called should do that.
Or you don't run npm run dev at all and instead only cider-jack-in and then start the watch from the REPL.
Don't forget to first kill all java processes that might be running for that project. As long as there is more than one shadow-cljs process running for the project things will be weird.
This happens to me when I clicked on the build link BEFORE it has compiled. In which case, the link is displaying a previously compiled version, not the live version, and "watch" on code changes doesn't work either. Just wait for your terminal output to say "compiled" before clicking on the link.

Chrome headless screenshot on local machine

I have a localhost website created with ember which is just working fine.
I want to use Lighthouse to get some metrics about the performance over time. Of course I want this to be in Chrome and headless. I installed Lighthouse using NPM and run the following command:
lighthouse http://localhost:4200 -chrome-flags='--headless'
When running above, I got the following error resulting in a question mark as a performance metric:
Chrome didn't collect any screenshots during the page load. Please make sure there is content visible on the page, and then try re-running Lighthouse. (SPEEDINDEX_OF_ZERO)
I tried running the dist folder of ember with the http-server package, but no differences in the result. The same error occurs.
When I run the test against google.com or against a website in our test environment I get a result back and not the error. When a colleague is running it on his local machine, no error occurs. Only difference we can find is he is running win8.1 and my machine is win10.
When I run Chrome without the headless flagg I also get a result, but I need it to work headless.
I'm using all the latest versions of Lighthouse, Chrome, Windows10, node. Also tried Chromium but no differences.
Hopefully someone got an idea
After a week I tried again, still the same error. Now I tried again and it works. Nothing changed to my codebase and all apps, packs and so on are also the same version which I can see.
I don't know what fixed the issue, but it works now. Case closed.

Unable to install MySQL on Windows 10 - Installer hangs indefinitely

I am trying to install MySQL on a Windows 10 PC. I downloaded the installer package and followed those steps
Went to https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/
clicked on "MySQL Installer"
Scrolled to Generally Available(GA) Releases section
Clicked on "Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer" (mysql-installer-community-5.7.21.0.msi) and it started the download.
Once the download was complete, I double clicked on the installer and it gave a usual pop-up for any installation like,"Do you want this app to make changes to your device?" after clicking on "yes" for the answer to this question, it shows "Please wait while Windows configures MySQL-Installer-community" like below screenshot.
And then it keeps showing this installation progress bar for a very long time. Like more than 7-8 hours and the installation never completes
So it seems something is wrong as I don't think MySQL installation needs this long time. I tried to restart my computer and then delete any files related to MySQL from my computer and then started the whole process of installation again. But no luck yet
Anyone has any suggestion on this or did anyone face this kind of issue before? If so, is there a fix or a work around for this?
ok. So finally this is how I resolved my issue. And I found the solution at https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=82004 . The solution to this problem is to close an open "Windows installer" (the one using 0 memory and CPU) via task manager and the installation should begin running as expected.
Alternative solution: Use an administrator command prompt to run the MySQL installer on Windows 10. Details:
(Note: if you have any problems in the following steps, you can try to restart your computer. Then restart the steps.)
Right-click the Start/Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of Windows.
Click: Windows PowerShell (Admin).
A window asks: Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? Click: Yes.
Change to the directory with the MySQL installer. For example, if you downloaded the MySQL installer, type something like:
cd C:\Users\my_username\Downloads\
(Note: To save some typing, you can type a few characters, and then press the tab key, to make Windows show you various auto-completion options.)
Run the MySQL installer. Type something like the following command---make sure to include the period and backslash at the beginning---and press Enter.
.\mysql-installer-community-8.0.11.0.msi

run cmd (commandline) as Administrator
cd to your location that you downloaded the .MSI to
run the “msiexec” commandline tool with option “/i” as follows:
msiexec /i [replace with file name]
example: msiexec /i mysql-installer-community-5.7.20.0.msi
Another thing that worked for me was running the installer in compatibility mode for previous version of Windows. You can try that as well.

Yes, I also got the same problem on my Windows 10.
Followed the Powershell solution and it worked.
Just repeat the above:
Click Start on bottom left corner
Scroll down the application list until Windows Powershell
Select Windows Powershell again on sub-menu
Type in cd (to change to your .msi folder)
Type .\xxxxx.msi (this is the installer file name)
All good.
Once you install the above package run the installer again and do the steps. You will be able to install the mysql-installer-community-5.7.21.0 for 64 bit windows 10
closing Windows Installer instances using 0 memory and CPU helps me to get past this problem.
For me on Window-10 machine, there was a problem with the "mysql-connector-net-8.0.11.msi". I was not able to uninstall this and hence all my subsequent efforts to install MySQL were failing. I did the following to overcome this issue.
Re-installed "mysql-connector-net-8.0.11.msi" Get it here and used the 'Repair' option
Installed the "mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.11.0.msi"
These two things solved my problem. Hope this helps.
The reson is your antivirus didn't allow the mysql, so Disable protection(until restart),( in your task bar right side click the arrow and right click to antivirus,to select (Disable protection(until restart)).then restart your computer again install mysql installer it will work.

In my case, an upgrade to 5.7.29 on Windows 10 via mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.20.0.msi, the install froze "backing up the database". The log tab showed no activity for 8 minutes. I clicked on cancel, then at the "are you sure" prompt I declined to cancel, and all of a sudden the install was working again. Very strange...
I encountered the same problem, preparing but can never get started. Tried to close other installation programs with no use, but I took the inspiration and proceeded with restart the computer and it worked nicely. So, I think the issue is to get rid of everything that could be in the background running that somehow interferes the installation.
You should run the installer as an administrator but this specific installation may not provide an option for this. Some might have it but it's most likely that it's unavailable for many users. So you should run it in cmd or powershell. And don't forget to run these shells as an administrator coz that's the whole point here. Once there, navigate to the installer's location which usually is in the downloads directory and run it using this command ./name.msi
Make sure no other ongoing installation of this instance. Close it if there exists one and undo the changes made by uninstalling it from the panel. If still facing difficulties, try restarting your machine and repeat this procedure...

I encountered the same issue of taking too much time to install mysql community installer.I tried 3 times by cancelling the installation and restarting to perform a new installation.But had same issue. I tried 2 things
First to end all tasks associated with installation which I performed for installing mysql using Task Manager
Reinitiated the installation but didn't solved my issue.
Secondly tried to install through Windows Powershell as admin, which solved the problem.
Click on the Windows icon/start on the bottom left corner.
Right click and select the option Windows Powershell (Admin).
A pop up window will ask Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?....Click Yes.
Now cd to your downloads folder/wherever you downloaded the .msi file (For example cd C:\Users\MYPC\Downloads).
Once you reach to the folder where the .msi file is kept, run the following command.
.\mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.23.0.msi (Note: this is the version which I have downloaded, modify as your version).

ERROR ITMS - 90167 No. app bundles found in the package

Before I start writing about the error, I'm running on macOS Sierra and using Xcode 7.3.1.
So I'm creating an Archive from my App, I validate the App and it passes validation, but when uploading to App Store, I get the error "ERROR ITMS - 90167 No. app bundles found in the package".
I've checked all my documentation and I have everything.
I have all my provisioning profiles.
I have Release as "iOS Distribution".
This error just started appearing after I installed macOS Sierra.
Anyone has an idea of why I'm getting this error?
After chatting with folks at WWDC in both the Xcode lab and the App Store lab, they were able to dig up information that this is a known issue in the current Sierra seed that is fixed in the next release. You can either revert, or wait. Not the most satisfying answer, I admit.
Problem:
Issue with the current macOS Sierra build.
Workaround
Build with Xcode 7.3.1 then upload using Xcode 8 [Beta]. (Thanks to #JollyRoger)
Currently, this workaround ONLY works for TestFlight and NOT for App Store submissions.
No need for fix [UPDATE]
So it seems that this bug has lasted for the whole beta period and it might not be worth for Apple to fix it anymore as the final version of iOS 10.0 is releasing in a few days and the final macOS Sierra is releasing a few days after that.
If you are still getting this issue with the final build of macOS Sierra, make sure you are using Xcode 8.x and not anything earlier than that.
Possible errors:

Fix: Uncheck the Include Bitcode option before uploading.

INFO ITMS-90111: "Beta Toolchain. This app has been built using beta toolchains. Apps built with beta toolchains are acceptable for TestFlight submission. Note that you will not be able to submit these builds for sale on the App Store."
Note: This will allow you to upload the build and use it for TestFlight but when trying to submit to the store you will be faced with this error message:
New apps and app updates must be built with the public (GM) versions of Xcode 6 or later, OS X, and tvOS SDK. Don't submit apps built with beta software including beta OS X builds.
If you are uploading from Xcode7(less than Xcode8) and macOS Sierra(V10.12), So this issue "ERROR ITMS-90167: "No .app bundles found in the package"" will come and will not allow to upload build to AppStore.
So use "Application Loader V3.6" or "Xcode8" to upload the build.

We export build by using Xcode7.3.1.
-For upload build we use Application Loader V3.6 of Xcode8.
Xcode -> Open Developer Tools -> Application Loader

2) Choose Build(IPA)
3)Uploading IPA file To app store
4)Successfully Submit Build(IPA)To App store

I would first like to thank #xemacobra for his solution, it worked for me until I needed to submit an application for Review.
If you need to submit an application for the App Store, and the build says You may not submit builds using beta software... here is the solution:
The problem is Xcode is sending the build information along with the version of you Mac OS. To fix that, you just need to change your Mac OS build to an older, acceptable, version.
Restart your Mac and hold Command + R on boot up
Open Terminal
Run csrutil disable
Restart your Mac.
In Finder, go to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
Open the file so that you may edit the SystemVersion.plist
Find <key>ProductBuildVersion</key> and locate the string attached to this key. For example, mine was 16A254g.
Change this string to a version of Mac OS that is currently supported for public release. At the time of this solution this one will fine: 15G31
Restart Xcode. Re-Archive your application. Re-Submit the application.
I did not try submitting the application through Xcode 7.3.1, but I do know this still works if you submit the .ipa through Xcode 8 beta 3.
Once you have submitted your build, revert the SystemVersion.plist to the original string, and repeat steps 1-4 replacing csrutil disable with csrutil enable.
I have also experienced the same. This is the simple way to solve your problem. Archive your app using Xcode 7.3.1 and export the ipa file of your app into a directory by selecting the option Save for iOS App Store deployment.
After that open Xcode 8.0 and open Application Loader from Xcode -> Developer Tools. Sign in to your team, and upload the ipa file using Xcode 8.0.
I have uploaded two apps to iTunesConnect, it will work for sure.
I was having this issue with Xcode 8 GM and trying to submit an app for release though Application Loader.
You have to use the version of Application Loader that comes with Xcode 8, which should be 3.6
I still have Xcode 7 installed, and was using Application Loader 3.5

My apps submit okay now and go into processing, then soon after disappear completely. I think this might be a separate issue though.

You still can't use Sierra to submit your apps. At least not until they release the GM.

This issue is still occurring with this particular project. All other new ones (sticker apps) that I have created since public launch have been submitted to iTunes Connect with no issues.
I worked on this project during the betas, so it's possible something has been corrupted along the way and is causing issues. Might require starting a new project in Xcode 8.

Solution
Turns out the fix for us was to add the "NSCameraUsageDescription" key
to the info.plist with a description of what the camera does in the
app.
Not sure if that solution will help in all cases though.
I submit an app built using LibGDX and had the same issue after upgrading to Sierra. I solved it by:
Upgrading Xcode (8.x), as explained above
Use the latest version of appLoader (3.6). To do that, use the AppLoader available within Xcode. I was using a standalone version of the appLoader: that's incorrect. Open Xcode and go to Xcode->Open Developer Tool->Application Loader
Unable to process application at this time due to the following error: No .app bundles found in the package. This issues appear when your pc's space is less. So clear you trash or some useless document from you pc. Then let's try again! It's work for me!
I recently upgraded to macOS Sierra and also received this error message. After uploading through the application loader failed.I downloaded Xcode 8 (kept my 7.3.1 copy). Closed Xcode 7.3.1. Opened Xcode 8-> Organizer-> proceeded to validate and upload my build. It worked. Hope this helps someone in a similar situation.
Maybe it's about your disk space check your disk space.
Try open App Loader from Xcode8.
Xcode > Open Developer Tools > Application Loader
Then you can upload app to TestFlight without the error.
These are all fabulous answers above... follow Nicholas's 9 step process above and also Tobeiosdev if you don't have write access to the SystemVersion.plist file.
However be very careful about how you read the step by step guide. DO NOT do as I did and restart your device after editing that plist file, as you will render most applications on your mac useless, including Terminal & TextEdit (which are required to edit it back). Reopen terminal inside Sierra (or the beta OS you are running) not inside the command line.
I unfortunately found out the hard way and then could not edit the plist file again in the command line. So I then had to reboot several times before finding the solution which was to go into single user mode (Command-S on restart), all of which scared me senseless that I had ruined the build of my mac. Eventually got everything running again but was somewhat delayed too by having to reinstall Xcode 8... leading to a sleepless night as my first ever submission to the AppStore.
All in all, the above is a perfect solution that works all around, IF you follow the directions correctly. Lesson learnt!
I accidentally opened an old version of the Application Loader Version 3.5 (921) and got the error ITMS-90167 no app bundles found. Be sure you open the Application Loader over the menu of Xcode (Xcode->Open Developer Tool). Version 3.6 (1020) works like a charm! :)
I solved this problem as follows, find your archive in the Organizer, and then:
Show in finder
Show package contents
In the „Wasabi.xcarchive“ file, find the
„Products“-„Applications“-„Wasabi.app“(Wasabi is your app’s name),
„Show package contents“ again
Finally, you can see there has a file named“Info.plist“, open it
Edit the value with a key named „BuildMachineOSBuild“, I just change
it to „15F34″(it’s „El Capitan 10.11.5“ ’s version)
According to #Fan Zhang answer follow these steps and you can upload this archive use Xcode or Application Loader, whatever you want!
When you archived your app, find your archive in the Organizer, and then:
-->"Show in finder";
-->"Show package contents";
-->In the "xx.xcarchive" file, find the "Products"->"Applications"->"xx.app"(xx is your app's name), "Show package contents" again;
-->Finally, you can see there has a file named"Info.plist", open it;
Edit the value with a key named "BuildMachineOSBuild", I just change it to "15F34"(it's "EI Capitan 10.11.5" 's version);
With me, my application writing by Swift 2.2. And must use Xcode 7.3.1 to archive and upload to Apple testflight but got the same error(I run on macOS Sierra-10.12). The follow solution fix it for me, hope another who face the same problem can find somethings helpful:
1> Use Xcode 7.3.1 to archive
2> Export to file .ipa
3> Quit Xcode 7.3.1 then open Xcode 8, and then open Application Loader, use Application Loader to upload file .ipa to itunes connect.
In case this helps, I had the same error code "ERROR ITMS - 90167 No. app bundles found in the package" using mac OS 10.14.4 with Xcode 10.2.
(As a note, I was able to successfully submit builds some weeks ago with the same configuration, but this seems to be something in the iTunes Connect side)
Had to update to mac os 10.14.6 and Xcode 10.3 to successfully submit my build.
I faced the same problem .
what worked for me was ->
go to target-> signing & capabilities -> signing certificate -> I had to revoke one certificate. Always revoke the Certificate by the name of admin's iMac .
It is created by default while making your certification and profiles.

I had previous described issues, which had to be solved as described, but after successful upload application wasn't visible on iTunes connect.
I had to add Privacy - Bluetooth Peripheral Usage Description key in a plist in order to solve the last one.
Other missing keys will make the same problem.
I was getting this error with Xcode 7.2.1 and Application Loader 3.4 on macOS 10.12.1.
But for some reason, it worked if I used the command-line "altool" to do the upload instead:

Go inside your Appstore and download the new version of Transporter.
