I found this awesome app that allows me to pick my button exactly the way I want it and copy it to my code with CSS: http://livetools.uiparade.com/button-builder.html#
But I would like my button to extend from one end of the div to the other like in this w3 tutorial using "online scripts": http://www.w3schools.com/bootstrap/tryit.asp?filename=trybs_button_block&stacked=h
Is it possible for me to create a button with CSS in that button builder and make it appear like in the w3 tutorial (filling the width of the div)?
Also, how do I reduce the (vertical) space between buttons?
Yes you can, if you will use bootstrap just add the class btn-block to your buttons, else add width: 100%, display: block; if you want that all buttons are (filling the width of the div) I add a script that set the class to all buttons, if not set the class only to the desired.
For remove the vertical space if you are using bootstrap just add this style
.btn-block + .btn-block{
margin-top: 0;
}
note that in the snippet I add !important that is because in the snippet the bootstrap's style is after mine but normally is not.
$(document).ready(function(){
allbuttons = $(".button");
allbuttons.addClass("btn-block");
})
.btn-block + .btn-block{
margin-top: 0 !important;
}
.button {

I'm trying to put a link to another website but it applies the whole CSS style for the button to the link, I just want it to be a plain text anchor link..
The CSS is below, sorry that it's alot of code, used a button generator to get it.. I'm new to this!
a.nav {
width: 80%;
display: inline-block;
list-style-type: none;
margin-bottom: 10px;
}
nav ul {
padding: 0;
margin-bottom: 10px;
display: inline-block;
}
a:hover {
color: #900;
background: #fff;
}
a {
-moz-box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
-webkit-box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0.05, #f9f9f9), color-stop(1, #e9e9e9));
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);

.myButton:active {

see the updated answer, you can change the styles for the ".ext_link" as per your need
Fiddle Sample
Since you have styled the anchor link with your button style, all <a></a> tags with look like a button. To simply fix this, presuming you only want the button style applied to your nav, append a nav selector like so:
nav a {
-moz-box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
-webkit-box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
box-shadow: inset 0px 1px 0px 0px #ffffff;
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0.05, #f9f9f9), color-stop(1, #e9e9e9));
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
background: -o-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #f9f9f9 5%, #e9e9e9 100%);
filter: progid: DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr='#f9f9f9', endColorstr='#e9e9e9', GradientType=0);
background-color: #f9f9f9;
-moz-border-radius: 6px;
-webkit-border-radius: 6px;
border-radius: 6px;
border: 1px solid #dcdcdc;
display: inline-block;
cursor: pointer;
color: #666666;
font-family: arial;
font-size: 15px;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 6px 24px;
text-decoration: none;
text-shadow: 0px 1px 0px #ffffff;
}
This way you only style the anchor tags that are within your nav.
JSFiddle updated
I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm trying to get it so the "Welcome to blabla" is on the right side of my thead. But it seems to glitch out?

You have an inline style of width: 75% which is pushing the text off the side.
I would remove that and the max-width: 1200px; and add text-align: right; to the #theadTitle element.
See this fiddle.
It's one of those days and I can not figure out why I'm getting a space to the left of each of the LI tags in the following code. If you hover over, the menu items you'll see what I mean.

<div id="menu">

I can not figure out why I'm getting a space to the left of each of the LI tags
Because you format them with display:inline-block - and have whitespace between the tags. That's basic "HTML behavior", that any whitespace between two inline(-block) elements is condensed to one space character when displayed.
Either float the LI instead, or write them without whitespace between the tags, meaning ...</li><li>...

list-style: none;
}
#menu li {
margin: 0;
float: left;
height: 19px;
border-right: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0);
padding: 10px 20px !important;
list-style: none;
}
U have some whitespace characters between your HTML code try to put the li tags on eachtoher:
<ul>
<li>Home</li>
<li>Home</li>
<li>Home</li>
</ul>
This solved the problem in the Fiddle.
In IE8 one of my buttons background's is overflowing it's border. Here is an image that highlights the problem:
A live example can be seen here: http://rcnhca.org.uk/sites/first_steps/
The markup for the button is:
<a class="button alpha bold" href="#">
<img alt="rcn icon" src="http://rcnhca.org.uk/sites/first_steps/wp-content/themes/megaamazing/library/images/rcn-icon.png">
</a>
And the css (I use filters to draw a gradient instead of an image):
a.button.alpha, a.button.alpha:focus {
margin-left: 0px;
}
a.button.omega, a.button.omega:focus {
margin-right: 0px;
}
a.button{
display: block;
position: relative;
float: left;
margin: 10px 5px;
right: 0px;
height: 2.438em;
line-height: 2.438em;
padding: 0 0.938em;

}
a.button img {
position: relative;
margin-right: 15px;
vertical-align: middle;
}
Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.
I can't explain why, but when you remove the horizontal margins on the anchor it fixes the problem (both left and right)
My best guess is that the IE filter is doing something unpredictable.
If you wrap the element then apply a margin to that instead, it should solve it.
there is no way to do this for IE8 because its not support css3 BTW its work in IE9.
