This is driving me crazy. I can't see the logic in to why this is happening and not even really sure how to search for the issue.
I have a menu with links to pages. Suddenly for no reason, my browsers is downloading some menu links as if it was a file link. I've tried reordering the pages in the CMS and changing the page url but it still happens. Its fine on my local machine dev site.
I get this error: "Failed to load resource: Frame load interrupted"
Which others have had but refers to file links, which mine is not.
Website here
Just hit Menu at the top > Collections > Automotive
If this loads for you try using the Menu again to choose a different catalogue and it should re create the error above.
In the end I talked to the hosting company who said:
"I’ve adjusted the openbasedir settings so that you can open files outside of the directories which domains are restricted to as standard."
This has revolved the issue.

TL;DR - why does Wordpress remove file:// from file links?
Our intranet page has a section containing icons with links behind them. All of a sudden (our guess is after an update), one of the links stopped working. The link is as follows (1):
<img src="/img/meetings.jpg" style="width:75px; height:75px;"/>
The expected behaviour (in Internet Explorer (2)) is that the file explorer opens, and points to the share \vmdata\meetings, which has always worked up until now.
When I hover over the icon image I see the following code however:
http://vmdata/meetings
and when I check the HTML by viewing the source of the page, I see that the file:// prefix is indeed gone:
<a href="//vmdata/meetings" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">
To work around this issue, I had a look at a page on which the original creator had added the same type of links. My idea was to create a similar page, copy the HTML code on the page and link the icon to said page. I added the page and HTML link but after viewing the page, the result is exactly the same: the file:// prefix is gone.
My guess is that something within Wordpress is rewriting/removing the file:// link. My question now is twofold: how do I stop this rewriting/removing behaviour, and/or how can I add a link to a fileshare as before?
PS: the creator of the website is no longer available, and the website is running yet unmanaged. Only content creators are left. We have no Wordpress knowledge in house, so we're basically just trying to keep the site up and running (in wait for a new site).
(1) I realise that pointing to a server share from an intranet site is a very ugly way to publish files. However, as stated before, we're in a situation of if it ain't broke don't fix it with this website, so we just want to go back to a working situation. Creating a page to link to (hosted) documents would be a lot better, but is for various reasons not feasible.
(2) please don't bother pointing out NOT to use Internet Explorer (anymore), we all know that but we are stuck with it because it is a requirement for one of the major tools we all use everyday. As long as that tool doesn't support other browsers, we're stuck with IE (unfortunately).
I found another question regarding this issue: can't save network share path as a link in wordpress 3.1
Apparently the correct way to add an allowed protocol into WordPress is to modify the functions.php file and add the following code:
function allowed_link_protocols_filter($protocols)
{
$protocols[] = 'file';
return $protocols;
}
add_filter('kses_allowed_protocols', 'allowed_link_protocols_filter');
More information can be found in the following article: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/kses_allowed_protocols/
Adding the code above solved the problem for me, so I hope this helps others to solve similar issues in the future.
I'm very new to programming and am having some issues with HTML/CSS. I have this index.html file that I made which is composed of a basic template and copied code navbar example from off of twitter bootstrap. I am launching this page from off of my chrome browser.
The issue I'm running into is that no matter how much content I delete off of this index.html document and then hit "CTRL+S", when I refresh the page, the content on the webpage still appears the same. It's gotten to the point where I only have !DOCTYPE html and html but the content still reloads/loads/doesn't change. Is it possible that the page is still around on local storage? I tried deleting my browser cache to no avail.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to configure it so I can delete a portion of content at one time (that way I can sort of learn what each component, class, id does).
It may be saved to your cache. Some website builders have a "Save To Cache" autosave, and you need to clear this, they should provide a button. If you're doing it yourself simply clear your cache in your Chrome Browser by going to the three vertical dots on the top right of your page -> Down to Settings -> Down to Advanced (Requires A Click) -> Down to Clear Browsing Data -> Select only Cached Images and Files -> Select a Day or Week to Be Safe. And when you reload your webpage now, it should be resolved.
I have a kentico install with multiple sites, all 'should' be set up the same but having a weird issue with the 3rd site i just launched. Any sort of file (image, script, or css) won't load by its relative path, and if i try to open the url i am presented with a kentico login screen.
The truly weird part is if i put the same url path but put one of the other sites domains in front of it, the image loads fine.
newsite.com/imageURL <- wont load
othersite.com/imageURL <- loads
otheroldsite.com/imageURL <- loads
hopefully that makes sense, i've never seen anything like this before.
Start with CSS first, make sure you've enabled the css for your new site:
CSS stylesheets\YourCSSName\Sites
For the media library you must have permissions
Media libraries\YourMediaLibraryName\Security
Make sure that 'See library Content' is set for All Users
But scripts usually in ~/CMSScripts/Custom/ so any site in you case should be able to access them. If your script is there and you can't load it - it's not Kentico permission issue.
I have quite the conundrum. Background- I have a webpage I made for fun as an easter egg for an internal site on my company's network. The index page isn't rendering the images and it's giving off a 404 not found error, even though I've triple checked and they're in the appropriate directory and I can open them up and view up without issue.
Pages that are linked to the index page DO get their pictures rendered. The webpages and the pictures are both in their own directories so I'm really not sure what could be going on. The tag is correct as well as the file name.
For example-
On my index page I have <img src="pics/opslogo.jpg"> which should point to http://[internal site]/html/Old_Ops_Website/pics/opslogo.jpg, which it does according to the page source, but it doesn't render even though I know the picture is in there.
On a separate page I have <img src="pics/connection.jpg"> which should point to http://[internal site]/html/Old_Ops_Website/pics/connection.jpg, which it does, and it DOES render correctly.
Interestingly enough the pictures that won't render when hitting the site from the network DO render correctly on the host machine itself.
Here are the paths, taken from "copy-shortcut", to the images from the non-working page and a working one, respectively-
http://[internal site]/html/Old_Ops_Website/pics/ops-logo.jpg
http://[internal site]/html/Old_Ops_Website/pics/connection.jpg
Given those pieces of information, I'm absolutely bewildered as to why this isn't working.
Not sure if it makes any difference but the actual root of the website is located in "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 8.0\webapps\ROOT" while the page I'm working on is located in "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 8.0\webapps\ROOT\html\Old_Ops_Website". Both directories have index files.
I tried changing the index file to "test.html" and hitting it via "http://[internal site]/html/Old_Ops_Website/test.html" with the same results.
Also tried "<img src="./pics/opslogo.jpg"/>", just in case, but no-go still.
Next steps taken-
Ok so I tried it with the images that I know for sure to be working on other pages and they show up on the index page as well. I still don't understand why the others won't show up since all the images are located in the exact same directory and when viewing the website from the host server all images render correctly. Next I tried to link the images that aren't working to one of the other pages and they don't work there either. I've triple checked and the images are definitely in the right directory and in the correct format and I can open them up and view them.
What could be causing these specific images to not render on any of my pages, yet they render perfectly from the host machine itself?
Edit, more details-
I went ahead and set the site up on my public dev server- here. As you can see here- pics the photos are in the correct directory, the HTML page is referencing the correct images, but nothing is coming up. FYI - I didn't create this site. This is about 10-15 years old which is why I'm hiding it on our current site as an easter egg for people to get a laugh at.
don't you realize your file name is wrong.
try:
<img src="pics/opslogo.JPG"/>
I am currently building an asp intranet site.
There are various helpful links that I need to include and some of them happen to be .xls files that are located on a local network within the company.
I link these documents just like I would any word docs (which work fine by the way).
<span>Schedule</span>
The link above works if I simply copy and paste the raw address into my browser (a pop-up window comes up asking me to open the file in Excel). But when I make this a link on the intranet site and try to click on it, nothing happens. I can see the link when I hover over it on the status bar but that's it. It is non-clickable. Anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?
I should mention that two of these .xls files are password-protected but one of them is simply a read-only file which can be opened by anyone.
I am 100% sure this has nothing to do with css styling because the same thing happens in the current (old) intranet site made by someone else and I use these links on different menu bars as well.
I think you use wrong syntax for shared files, try this:
file:///P:\-Projects-\SCHEDULE.xls
Backslashes are still valid for the path part. Moreover, I'm not sure whether Sharepoint may recognize correctly path to most likely network drive P:.
For me such link to local share works:
file:///\\fs-1\Install\Windows\Servers\DB\MSSQL\SQL2005\en_sql_server_2005_service_pack_4_x64.exe
The solution to this problem is to add the site to the "Trusted Sites" list.
Opening intranet files without the user knowing is considered a secruity threat.
In IE go to Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites then add the site.
