I've been working on some partial sections. I have two columns of 50% width one with image and other with four boxes of contact address. What I did was placed the image with a specific height but that doesn't seem to work fine with the media queries. So I've gone through some previously asked questions and found out one of them working for me. Everything is fine until I get the section responsive. The image is either getting too large(not aligning to the neighbor col) or getting small. I need to specify the padding each time I change my responsive tab. I need the Image to set its height dynamically.
I know its something tiny but I can't figure it out.
Here is working Fiddle followed by the code I've tried.
.our-specials {
width: 100%;
display: flex;
flex-wrap: wrap;
}
.our-specials .column-6 {

Help me out. Thanks in Advance.
Assuming I've understood correctly, the issue is that part of the image is being obstructed by the blocks on responsive view? If that's the case, setting the .our-image div to have background-size: contain does the trick.

You'll wanna use background-size: contain; on .our-image for it to maintain the aspect ration.
you used a class named our-image. where you arranged image as background image and set its size to cover.
That doesn't seems right. cover will always keep the size to fill your div.
1st : use image as html element. its always better and recommended.
2nd : remove background url as image.
3rd : responsiveness depends on the screen width. so use the width width : 100% or whatever size you want.
4th : define #media screen query to arrange your image for different screen size.
Simple and effective.

Try thinking of your problem the other way around.
Layout shifts like this are much easier to deal with when working with a 'mobile first' approach. (style the mobile version and then override at a min-width media query to style the desktop version, rather than styling the desktop perfectly and then trying to fold everything down to mobile.)
I've knocked up a quick demo of what should work for you.
This is NOT a direct replication of or fix of your existing code, just a demo of the methods you could use, but hopefully from this demo and the snippets, you should understand what is happening and be able to apply some of these methods to your own code.
The method is entirely done with flex properties.
The socials are no longer absolutely positioned and the unnecessary social wrapper div is removed.
I've added border colors and padding just to more obviously show you whats happening to the box model when you resize your browser.
To view the demo, click 'run code snippet' - but make sure to then also click the 'full page' option otherwise it'd only show you the mobile layout.
Here's the JSFiddle where I created the demo incase it's useful: CLICK TO VIEW FIDDLE

To make icons in row
we can do it using #media in the approach
APPROACH
Use flexbox to make your icons in a row
and use grid to make everything in a row when you are on a big screen
you can also set width and then add margin auto to make things centre but using justify-content center is better ---> not told in this answer

I am creating a portfolio page in which I am showing my 6 projects, 3 in a row using flexbox. The items inside are flowing out of the flexbox even though I have used flex-wrap. I am relatively new to this so I don't know what is happening.
The red border is my flexbox container and it contains six div elements. Inside each div element, there is one image and another div element which is like a caption. Each image is of a different size
HTML Code:
<section id="work">
<h1><u>These are some of my projects</u></h1>
<div id="work-container">
<div class="work-block">
<img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/freeCodeCamp/cdn/master/build/testable-projects-fcc/images/tribute.jpg" alt="">
<div id="project-title">Tribute Page</div>
</div>
<div class="work-block">
<img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/freeCodeCamp/cdn/master/build/testable-projects-fcc/images/random-quote-machine.png" alt="">
<div id="project-title">Random Quote Machine</div>
</div>
<div class="work-block">
<img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/freeCodeCamp/cdn/master/build/testable-projects-fcc/images/calc.png" alt="">
<div id="project-title">JavaScript Calculator</div>
</div>
<div class="work-block">

CSS Used:
#work-container{
display: flex;
flex-direction: row;
justify-content: space-around;
flex-wrap: wrap;
width: 100%;
border: 5px solid red;
}
.work-block{
width: 28%;
margin: 20px;
}
#media (max-width: 1000px) {
.work-block{
width: 45%;
}
}
#work-container img{
height: calc(100% );
width:100%;
margin:0;
padding: 0;
object-fit: cover;
flex:none;
}
There is one particular line which is enabling equal height for all images height: calc(100% );. I don't know how it works, I took it from the internet. It was used to have the equal height for each image.
Also, the bottom and the top margin between blocks is not working.
I want some help in wrapping content inside container properly and understanding how height: calc(100% ); works.
Complete Code: https://codepen.io/tushar_432/pen/poyxmyZ
Don't make the image height:100%, this will make the image take all the space pushing the text outside thus the overflow. Use flexbox to make it fill all the space minuse the text space:
#work-container {
display: flex;
flex-direction: row;
justify-content: space-around;
flex-wrap: wrap;
width: 100%;
border: 5px solid red;
}
.work-block {
width: 28%;
margin: 20px;
}
#media (max-width: 1000px) {
.work-block {
width: 45%;
}
}
.work-block {
display:flex; /* here */
flex-direction:column; /* here */
}

flex: 1; /* here */
}

My question is how to position these cards on my website?
https://imgur.com/a/Ompfh
It would be easy if there isn't this half circles above them.
I have tried to create parent class="cards" and class="card" for each of 3 cards.
In css:
.cards { display: flex }
.card { width: 33.33% }
And set relative position to my background and absolute position to my half-circles but I want to do it without absolute and relative positions if it's possible.
.cards {
display: flex;
}
.card {
width: 33.33%;
color: #fff;
text-align: center;
}
.card p {
min-height: 80px;
padding: 0 39px 0 39px;
}
.strategy--logo {
position: absolute;
top: 383px;
left: 607px;
width: 96px;
height: 48px;
background-color: #5a471b;
border-top-right-radius: 48px;
border-top-left-radius: 48px;
}
.strategy {
margin-top: 135px;
background-color: #5a471b;
}
.crop--marketing {
margin-top: 135px;
background-color: #9fa374;
}
.risk--mgmt {
margin-top: 135px;
background-color: #666;
}
<div class="cards">
<div class="card">
<div class="strategy">
<div class="strategy--logo">
<img src="css/images/strategy-logo.png" alt="" />
</div>
<!-- /.strategy-/-logo -->
<h2>
</h2>
<p>
</p>
</div>
<!-- /.crop-/-marketing -->
</div>
<!-- /.card -->
<div class="card">
<div class="crop--marketing">
<img src="css/images/crop-logo.png" alt="" />
<h2>
</h2>
<p>
</p>
</div>
<!-- /.crop-/-marketing -->
</div>
<!-- /.card -->
<div class="card">
<div class="risk--mgmt">
<img src="css/images/arrow-logo.png" alt="" />
<h2>
</h2>
<p>
</p>
</div>
<!-- /.risk-/-mgmt -->
</div>
<!-- /.card -->
</div>
<!-- /.cards -->
Now I'm using absolute and relative but is there another way? Because when I resize my web browser the circles go away random ...
Are you trying to achieve this?
.card {
displaY: block;
float: left;
width: 33.33%;
text-align: center;
color: white;
font-family: 'Calibri';
}
.icon {
width: 50px;
height: 25px;
/*half of width*/
margin: auto;
display: block;
border-radius: 50px 50px 0 0;
}
.fa {
margin-top: 10px;
}
.text {
padding: 25px;
}
.strategy .text,
.strategy .icon {
background-color: #5c471c;
}
.crop .text,
.crop .icon {
background-color: #a0a175;
}
.risk .text,
.risk .icon {
background-color: #666666;
}
<link href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div class="card strategy">
<div class="icon">
<i class="fa fa-area-chart" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</div>
<div class="text">
Our Strategy
</div>
</div>
<div class="card crop">
<div class="icon">
<i class="fa fa-pagelines" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</div>
<div class="text">
Crop Marketing
</div>
</div>
<div class="card risk">
<div class="icon">
<i class="fa fa-arrow-down" aria-hidden="true"></i>
<i class="fa fa-arrow-up" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</div>
<div class="text">
Commodity Risk Management
</div>
</div>
Is the main problem that when you use position your layout changes its position elsewhere?
If so, to use position property is ok if you make a few changes:
CSS
.strategy--logo {
position: absolute;
/* Remove this top parameter, use transform instead */
/* top:383px; */
/* Instead your value of a left use value of 50% and transform left
and right properties like it is changed below */
/* left: 607px; */
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, -100%);
width: 96px; height: 48px;
background-color: #5a471b;
border-top-right-radius: 48px;
border-top-left-radius: 48px;
}
.strategy {
/* add position relative to a parent of strategy-logo */
position: relative;
margin-top: 135px;
background-color: #5a471b;
}
Then your code will stay in the same position even if you resize the screen.
I'm displaying images of A4, A5, Quarto etc sized products in a responsive grid and and using max-width: 70%; (and other percent values) am able to take arbitrarily sized images and display them in correct scale. This is working well in about 10 browser/OS combos - except Win 10/IE11
Good display:
Here each cell in the grid (<div class="product">) has a black outline and contains an image wrapper in red (<div class='productimage'>) plus other wrapper divs the the text and price. Using a jquery solution here I have made all the grid cells the same height.
In IE11 the images seem to refuse to scale and want to render full size instead of a percent of their container's width:
Removing display: table-cell; from the .productimage class that wraps the image gives this on IE11:
So size is now correct again, but image is at top of the div. I tried this and similar solutions based on position: relative / position: absolute but cannot get it to work, as, I think, my divs do not have a fixed height, and/or height is set by jquery.

You could use flexbox instead. More suitable for layout than display: table/table-cell
Note, you need to add prefixed flexbox property for amongst other IE10

Tables are so problematic. The cells are forced to be at least as big as the contents, but if you use percentages in the contents then it's a circular definition.
So CSS2.1 left lots of these things as undefined behavior, and therefore browsers behave differently. Now CSS Tables Module 3 is attempting to fix this but it's not stable yet.
What usually works for me is:
Position the cells relatively
Position the contents absolutely
Use top, right, bottom and left to size and place the contents as desired inside the cell.

You need to set the value of height: 100%; in Internet explorer.
