Can't connect to MySQL database from java but able to connect from plain MySQL command line - mediawiki

I'm trying to use mwdumper jar to import a wiktionary dump to a db that I created with MAMP Pro. Here is the command that I'm struggling with:

When I simply try to connect to the DB from the terminal, I have no access problem:
$ /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql -u wikiuser -p
As mentioned in related issues, I checked "Allow network access to MySQL" from the MAMP Interface but still it didn't help. Same issue by using root.
Any idea what's wrong?

Problem is that due to & operator password in the URL gets as separate command while sending URL on terminal. Hence, mysql never gets password.
Use \ to escape & i.e.
--output=mysql://localhost:8889/wiktionay?user=wikiuser\&password=wiki2017

I am tired in few ways as mentioned in some other forms but not use.
You didn't create the user 'bkUser'#'localhost' correctly.
I found solution, When I was using sql statement for grant privileges i used 'user#%' because of that it was not working. Correct sql statement was:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'User'#'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'Pass' WITH GRANT OPTION;

How to export HDFS data into mysql?

How can i get out of here? i have imported mysql-connector into sqoop home folder till i am getting it.

Error says connection time out and you are using above JDBC URL.
Troubleshooting steps:
Check connectivity ping vamshhi-Inspiron-N5010
Check whether database is running on specified port
telnet vamshhi-Inspiron-N5010 3306
If first one is failing then you are not able to connect to specified host.
If first is successful and second one is failing then mysql database is not running.

Issue - Importing data from mysql to HDFS

I am trying to import a table "employee" from MySQL(installed on my laptop) to HDFS(on VM placed on my laptop as well)
I have given all permission to MySQL as well .. using following command successfully
grant all privileges on . to root#192.168.56.1 IDENTIFIED BY 'root' WITH GRANT OPTION;
what may be the problem ..

SQOOP execute a MapReduce job to work in parallel. The question is: Are all your hadoop nodes able to communicate with MySQL ? In your example you are only granting access to the DB to one host. Is your hadoop "cluster" a standalone instance ?

mysql connection refused for squirrel

I have a linux server that I access with putty.
I access my mysql database of that server with the program SQuirrel SQL client.
And everything works. Now I buyed a new windows computer and I wanted to install all the same applications to access my linux server.
I can access my server with putty very well.

Edit the /etc/my.cnf
run: vi /etc/my.cnf
look for bind-address=YOUR-SERVER-IP and comment it out.
2 Grant access to a new database
If you want to add a new database called foo for user bar and remote IP 202.54.10.20
then you need to type the following commands at

Let us assume that you are always making connection from remote IP called 202.54.10.20 for database called webdb for user webadmin, To grant access to this IP address type the following command At
mysql> prompt for existing database, enter:
mysql> update db set Host='202.54.10.20' where Db='webdb';
mysql> update user set Host='202.54.10.20' where user='webadmin';
exit mysql,
you will now have to restart your mysql server instance
this should allow you to remotely connect.

I have been granted access permission to my IP, But yet I get error.
Have you flushed the privileges after granting access to root at that IP? Privileges won't work until they have been loaded by the MySQL engine, so you have to issue a 'FLUSH PRIVILEGES' command.
