google_metadata process consuming 100% CPU in Google Compute Engine instance - google-compute-engine

I'm using Google Compute Engine instance (f1.micro). Since google_metadata process (Python) is consuming CPUs. (Because of this Google Cloud Console suggests "Consider switching to the machine type: g1-small (1 vCPU, 1.7 GB memory)").
Does anyone know what the process is for and how can we remediate this situation?

It turned out that the process is responsible to run "startup-script" in metadata of Google Compute Engine virtual machines, which usually stops after such script. However, in my settings, the startup script runs forever to continuously run some commands, and unexpectedly caused the high-CPU issue.
Remediation would be not to have such long-running startup-script.

Adding SPLINE to DXF makes the file corrupt (content not shown)

I am working on my own DXF writer because I only need certain elements (such as LINE, POLYLINE, POINT an SPLINE).
I started with tfpdxfbridge and the idea was to include SPLINE support too. When I tried to manually add SPLINE to ENTITIES in the *.dxf file, the file is not opened anymore. Example of SPLINE:

When I try to recover your DXF file I get the following:

I see that 330 is included when I do my own spline and save as DXF. But, 330 is according to the documents:
Soft-pointer ID/handle to owner dictionary (optional)

Error 522 with Cloudflare

Hello I have always error 522 with Cloudflare and SSL
I use 2 url the first is via Cloudflare with full ssl https://example.com and second is with my ip and without Cloudflare http://XXX.XXX. If i start benchmaking mysql with AB command (or with simple ajax request) the siteweb with Cloudflare down imediatly with error 522 but the website with my IP never down and continue to work faster
I have a free plan in Cloudflare with a auto signed SSL certificat in my server with openssl
openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout /etc/apache2/ssl/s1.key -out /etc/apache2/ssl/s1.crt
I changed my.cnf for limit max_user_connections to 20 but not working i dont have error in apache and syslog
My server is a debian 7 3 cores 4gb in OVH

linux server running slow if mysql (mariadb) service is running

I have setup an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on i7-2600 box with 24G ram. I use mariadb-10.0.11 to replace mysql for more performance. And I use matmul.c (c) 2009, Rajorshi Biswas to test the system performance.The result is unusual, there is no access to mysql (mariab) server and the matnul.c result is

Is there is configuration issues to make such performance slow down issue or it just natural??
Remark, there is no connection to mysql during the test.

(the use of matural.c is just an example, all other program run slower 50% when mysql is running.)

how to generate graph from trace file in ns2?

I am facing a problem in generating xgraph from .tr file. The error message is like this:

So how can I generate graph from the trace file?
You cannot give your trace file as a direct input to Xgraph. you have to give file with only two lines like
1 5
5 89
8 98 here first row is x axis 2nd is y axis for example save this file as graph.tr
now you can execute using xgraph graph.tr here instead of using random values you have to use your QOS valuse such as number of packets received or sent like that..
xgraph can only be used with .xgr files. While executing the awk command add this (watch for the greater than symbol):
.... > anyname.xgr
Now you can use xgraph to plot, the command is:
xgraph anyname.xgr

Mysql and High CPU IO Wait

I've the following problem. I'm running a MySQL server 5.1.37 on Ubuntu 9.10 x86 on Amazon. For data store I use EBS volume formatted for ext3.
From time to time the following problem occurs. MySQL start processing about queries 10~20 queries and processing of these takes more than 300sec (These SQL are using filesort). During that time no other transaction could be executed.
I've checked CPU Wait and here what is shows:

What could cause such a behavior? Are there any techniques to avoid this?
You're showing a high amount of IO_WAIT status on the CPU (65%). It's possible that you're just pulling too much out of the disks. Try running iostat and seeing what the disk activity is like (namely transactions per second).
However, you mention 10 to 20 queries. Are these queries doing any writing at all? Are they using a transaction? If the answer to either is yes, then you're locking because of the transaction lock in MySQL. If that's the case, your problem is that you need to either figure a way to remove the transaction, or make the queries much more efficient.
A good test would be to create another database on the server. Then run your queries and try to query against the different database. If it works, it's due to transaction locks. If it doesn't, it's likely the disk or some other leak from the VM...
The biggest suspect here is the performance of the EBS volumes, the CPUs may be waiting for I/Os to complete. The next question is what is causing the I/O requests.

The IO performance of EBS is poor (I recently benchmarked EBS on a Small instance as being half as fast as my laptop's hard drive). However, you can improve it significantly by striping multiple EBS volumes into a software RAID configuration.

EBS comes with lot of its own limitations, if you are running your instance in the US Region, its better you switch to optimized EBS to make the IO faster. Even I was managing a self managed Mysql but later switched to RDS, which gives a lot better performance then EBS.
