It seems that I've fat-fingered some hotkey and my top tabs in VSCode have disappeared.
I miss them terribly. How do I configure VSCode to show tabs of open files across the top of the window?
Thank you for your help.
Open the command palette using Ctrl+Shift+P and execute View: Toggle Tab Visibility:
You probably set the "showTabs" setting to false. To fix this, open user settings: ctrl+shift+p and type in "user settings" and select the "Open User Settings" option.
Find the line that looks something similar to:
"workbench.editor.showTabs": false,
and delete it. Save the file, and you should see your tabs again.
If that is not the setting, read through your settings file and see if there is something else that may be causing the issue.

At my new job I have to work with PhpStorm. I come from Sublime Text, and what bothers me most about PhpStorm is the lack of a single click preview of the files. In stead, it opens the files for editing and adds them to active tab, leaving me with A LOT of useless tabs.
I searched here on StackOverflow and Google, but I seem to be the only one who is annoyed by this. In Sublime it goes to edit mode only after a double click. Is there a setting or plugin to have it like in Sublime?
It's a native feature these days:
Settings... / Editor / General / Editor Tabs / Opening Policy > check "Enable preview tab"
on version PhpStorm 2022.3.2
Single Click To Open File
By default to open a file in phpstorm you have to double click it. I found this to be very annoying. Luckily you can change this to be a single click.
Steps:
Click the gear icon.
Make sure 'Autoscroll to Source' is checked
Make sure 'Autoscroll from Sourcce' is checked

There is no such functionality currently available. I may only suggest to use View | Quick Definition to preview files.

Welcome in late 2019 - we got a plugin for this now:
Plugin: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/12778-quick-file-preview
Plugin Source: https://github.com/SeeSharpSoft/intellij-file-preview
IntelliJ Issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-130918
Don't forget to disable the "Autoscroll to Source" Feature, to get the full advantage of the plugin!
The closest you'll get right now is to enable 'Scroll To Source', however this will actually open the file in another tab, it will not be a preview.
Open the Project, Favorites, etc. side bar (cmd + 1 or ctrl + 1)
Click the gear in the top right
Select 'Scroll to Source'
Note 'Scroll to Source' can be enabled at the same as 'Scroll from Source', just make sure if you click on one file you wait until the sidebar catches up to click another, otherwise the sidebar will autoscroll back and forth between the two. You'll have to click one of them to break that loop.

This is now available as a native feature in the latest version: 2020.3!
See this comment on the YouTrack link someone posted above https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-130918#focus=Comments-27-4500169.0-0
Also on the 2020.3 feature list under User Experience there's a mention of "preview tab" here https://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2020/12/intellij-idea-2020-3/
Today my Sublime 3083 became corrupted! I don't know why but every time I click on a file it opens on the same tab!
I cannot open two tabs at the same time. Fist file opens in a new tab and another opens in the previous tab and so on!
I did not installed any plugins recently. I just selected "Close Other Tabs" on menu.
What can I do?
Thanks
You must open the file using double click. If you open it using single click then you're using a feature called file preview, and that file will be closed when you preview other file unless the file has changes.
In addition, in the settings file you can set the preview_on_click option to false to disable the preview option; if you do that a click on the file won't do nothing, and a double click will still open the file in a new tab. As far as I know there's no option to open the file with a single click, only you can 'preview' the file (it's similar to open but the file get closed if you preview another file). Example setting:
{
"preview_on_click": false
}
I was facing a similar but little different problem. I was not able to view any tabs I was opening, and it was always opening a new file.
I fixed it by "View" -> "Show Tabs".
I know how to do that manually. But, is there an option to set up one particular file to be opened always in Chrome, despite Firefox being the default browser.
What I want is to set up somehow, one HTML file on my desktop to be opened in Chrome, but the rest of the html files continue to open in Firefox, and I want this to apply always for this file, even when I move it to some other computer.
I will assume we are talking about the Windows OS first. Secondly, I will assume that you do not have a Chrome shortcut sitting on your desktop, if you do have a shortcut just skip to the second step otherwise continue reading on.
Step 1: Create a Chrome Shortcut
There are many ways of doing this. Simplest one is to just search for Chrome in the Start Menu and drag the shortcut to your desktop like I have in the picture below.
Step 2: Open the Shortcut Properties
Right click on your Chrome shortcut and click the Properties option, like in the image below.
Step 3: Edit Your Shortcut's Target Value
Find the Target option in the Shortcut tab of the Properties window. Add the following piece of code at the end of your target statement.
--app=https://example.com
Replace https://example.com with any website you like. In the image below the highlighted part shows where you have to edit the target value. I have made a shortcut for https://google.com.
Hope this helps!
Note: This is a Chrome specific trick and it will open a new window without a URL bar or a toolbar.
Edit: Added pictures with more description.
You can right click on the html file then got to open with and it should display the available browsers select the one you would like to open the file with
You should be able to set it to open (in Windows (7) ) by right-clicking on a html file, going to 'Open With' and 'Choose Default program':
on most Linux systems you should be able to right-click, go to 'Properties' and set it under 'Open With...':
also, in Google Chrome settings you should be able to set it as default:
When I run my project in Netbeans 6.8, it loves to open the index page automatically. It's annoying because I always keep a tab with the page I'm working on when I work, so I don't need this index page. It also makes my current page lose focus.
I have tried not specifying an index or my project URL, but then I can't run or save my project.
How can I prevent it from doing so?
In NetBeans 7.4:
Right-click your project, select 'Properties'
In left hand pane of popup, select 'Run Configuration'
In the right pane of the popup, in the bottom right corner of the list of fields, click 'Advanced...'
Select radio button 'Do Not Open Web Browser'
I ran into that issue as well. The solution is quite simple - go to the menu bar:
Run/Run File.
That's it. It will just run the current php script without going to the index.php.
Basically, you want to reopen the same page (refresh it ?) in the browser ? You can set settings in the project properties > run configuration, then chaange the index file or project url. But apart from that I am afraid that you can't do anything to prevent opening a new window on run. When you click 'run', netbeans says to your OS : "Hey, let's open that page (your_project_URL/index_file) now". The OS thinks and execute a command like "default_browser url", where the argument "url" is here your_project_URL/index_file. Then the browser thinks it's a new page to open, and BAM, opens a new page.
Just use shift+F6 which will open the current page with focus.
How to remove all breakpoints in one step in Google Chrome? Using version 11.
[update]
There is now a feature request for this.
[update]
The feature request is closed (Dec 2011)!
This is now possible in Sources tab of Chrome Developer Tools.
Please see screen grab below and right click within the "Breakpoints" section of the left window.
Since recently (Chrome 18), you can right-click any breakpoint in the Breakpoints pane and voila! The "Remove All JavaScript Breakpoints" popup menu item!
Chrome Devtools crashed everytime I tried to access the Sources panel because of a breakpoint on a minified Javascript file.
To remove all breakpoints without access to the interface, you can do the following:
Open inspector-on-inspector : undock first inspector and hit ctrl+shift+i to open the second
On the inspector-on-inspector console, execute the following:
window.localStorage.breakpoints = [];
Close the inspectors and reload the page. Now the breakpoints are gone.
Under Sources, you can click button marked with red on picture below or use shortcut Ctrl + F8 just like tool tip is showing (activate / deactivate breakpoints). A little bit lower under 'Breakpoints' you will see all your breakpoints. If you choose to disable all, they will be grayed out.
solution here.
To purge all breakpoints open inspector on inspector (undock first
inspector and hit ctrl-shift-I to open the second) and run
"WebInspector.settings.domBreakpoints.set([])" in second inspector's
console.
new Tabs; Ctrl+Shift+J to Console; Access URL
Open the Chrome task manager and end the tab page.
Ctrl+Shift+J to Application -> Service Workers (Offiline) -> Refresh
to Sources Cancel Breakpoint
Success
Another option is to de-activate all break points using:
Ctrl + F8
In my case Uninstall and new installation of Chrome was without any success.
Also window.localStorage.clear() did not help.
My "last chance solution" is to remove entire directory where Chrome is storing its data.
First turn off your Chrome.
Then look at this path "c:\Users\ {your_user} \AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Storage\". Here try to delete all what is in this directory.
You can also clear all inspector settings and reload the inspector. It helped me with fantom breakpoint I could not remove in any other way. Open inspector and go to Preferences -> Sync -> Restore defaults and reload (at the bottom).
Step 1: Go to Developer tools and expand Breakpoint section
Step 2: Right click on expanded area of breakpint and there will be many options lik
