I have an ec2 running Amazon Linux AMI and I'm trying to hit phpmyadmin in a browser. I can SSH to MySQL and terminal says 'listening port 8888 for 127.0.0.1 port 443' but when I hit 'https://127.0.0.1:8888/phpmyadmin' in my browser, I get various errors, depending on the browser.
FF says 'The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.' Safari says 'can't establish a secure connection.'
Inbound rules allow 443 connections.
What should I check?

So I followed this tutorial to install and configure a MySQL server on an AWS instance that was originally running on EC2.
When I tried to login back to the server via ssh, I would get a port 22: Connection timed out error.
So I tried to do the same on Lightsail and ended up getting the same error when I try to login back.
Is this a known issue? Am I doing anything wrong? Is there a way to fix this?

mentioned tutorial says: enable firewall to allow mysql remote access.
sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw allow mysql
which is allowing only mysql and stopping every incoming request it can be either ssh or http or anything else which you have defied in security group of ec2 instance.
In my case i have allowed following inbound rule but nothing was working even ssh also says connection refused
To get this working either disable firewall or allow required port in firewall. Off course, still you need to login into ec2 instance to get this done.
There are 3 ways to connect with ec2 instance
SSH is not working so I choose Session Manager (Browser based ssh). I follow this video and was able to connect with instance through session manager.
After login i just disable the firewall and every thing works fine.
sudo ufw disable
All the inbound rules working properly. Hope it will work for you.
I have a regular MySQL server running with XAMPP at port 3306 and accessible by my internet ip aswell my local ip (127.0.0.1), the ports are forwarded in my router. An account set up to be accessed from any IP, Everything works fine.
I'm trying to make this same server be accessible by AirVPN DNS address. So I've followed AirVPN instructions to remove the forwarded ports in my router and forward a new port at their VPN with a random number (lets go with 1111) with local port as 3306 and DNS named as xxx.airdns.org
So I open MySQL with XAMPP under port 3306, nothing changed in config file. I run the AirVPN port checker over 1111 and it signals as open. I also try at other sites that checks ports and signals open at xxx.airdns.org:1111
Though when I try to make a connection as usual it returns error (10060): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx.airdns.org' (10060)
Resolutions I've tried:
Switch port values in MySQL config files matching with the ports open in AirVPN
bound address to VPN adapter bind-address="10.6.114.48"
repeated the options above in all different kind of port combinations and addresses
Disabled Firewall on Ethernet adapter of VPN as described here
I couldn't achieve success in this task. I'm looking for some enlightment so I can understand the process.
EDIT:
The connection is set only to TCP protocol. A port check done through airVPN and is registered at XAMPP & FIREWALL logs as accepted connections. Though trying to connect from a client I got no log from Xampp or Firewall, it gets timed out.

Maybe the protocol ( TCP/UDP ) is your issue.
If you use UDP on your airVPN better check forwarding on your router - most of them
by default sets TCP only. Otherwise maybe change to TCP on your airVPN.
ISP provider often filter this protocol.
Issue: Consider that you can't connect to a service running "behind" some VPN server from a machine that's connected to that very same VPN service.
Solution: Connect from another machine to test your service properly.
I have the following topology.
One Ubuntu 16.04. Instance on the Amazon AWS where my global MySQL Server is running. I want to use this Server as a Slave (Multi-Source Replication) for many local Master (Windows Machines MySQL Server).
For Testing Reasons I`ve Managed to make this running on one local Machine (with three different MySQL Server Running).
But now I want to make this Replication work on the mentioned global Server with the local ones. But it fails on the attempt to connect from the EC2 ubuntu Instance to the local Windows MySQL Server.
When I try to connect from my EC2 Instance to the local Computer with MySQL running on Port 3307 it keep saying:
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on (113)
The strange Part is, that I can PING the Local Computer but not telnet it.
Telnet just says:
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host
I can access the Global (EC2 / Ubuntu MySQL Server) from the local Machine but not the other way around.
I`ve already made a new Rule for this Port on the Windows Firewall Settings.
But the Port 3307 on the IPv4 Address seems to be still Closed.
I have no clue what I am missing to get a Connection from the EC2 Instance to my local Computer via TCP.
Do I have to open the Port Specific on the Router?

It seems like your local computer is not visible, as your incoming ports to your local pc are closed. It may be a problem with your router, or your internet service provider, which is not allowing you to open ports(the most common one).
The possible solutions are:
1.) If your ports are not open due to the router
Try forwarding required ports to your pc.
Try Switching off your NAT firewall that may be blocking ports.
Try switching off your windows or antivirus firewall if any.
2.) If your ports are blocked by your Internet service provider.
Try getting help from ISP
Switch to a static IP connection if on dynamic.
Use a VPN service that provides an unblocked port service to all IPs.(This one solved my problem when I was struck in this situation.)

I've been looking for an answer since approximatively 4 days, and I don't know how to fix my issue.
So:
I want to virtualize two servers using virtualBox on Windows7 and i want them all on the same local network.
My VMs are running on Ubuntu 16.04
On the first VM I installed a lamp web server with MySQL 5.7 and i add phpmyadmin.
On the second VM I installed Jira standalone
--> I need to connect to my Database from my Jira server
So I used the Bridge adapter on each machine:

Ip adresses are attributed with the DHCP protocol.
The SQL machine ip is 192.168.6.80
The Jira machine ip is 192.168.6.101
The Host machine ip is 192.168.6.87
I'm able to ping each machine so there is no problem.

Jira server
Here when i start the machine it works during approximatively 2-3 minutes,
I'am able to connect via:
mysql -u root -p -h 192.168.6.80 -P 5671
I am perfectly connected and i can also access to all the other adresses.
And then it stop working on this machine only.
Unable to connect
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.6.80.

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
And when i re-try to connect via mysql on terminal I get the Error 2003 (HYOOO)
This happen only when i use the connection of my work, at home it works perfectly without stopping!!
I have few leads:
problems of proxy authentication
problems of firewall configuration
i am in a private network with a domain name called something.eu
And when i launch firefox the proxy shows up automatically:
and-etc-ha.something.eu:9090
So i'm invited to enter my id and password.
My id is : luc.myName#something.eu
After that i'm connected to internet with firefox but not in terminal when i want to use apt.
I search on the web and i found this:
export http_proxy="http://Username:password#proxyip:port/"
and
export http_proxy="http://Domain\user:pasword#proxyip:port/"
So I tried different ways and i was able to download with apt. But the internet connexion with firefox was unstable. But if I use firefox on my host machine the connexion is perfect.
I also tried with settings -> network -> network proxy -> method manual
http: and-etc-ha.something.eu port: 9090
I don't know if I was understandable, tell me!^^

I found the cause: In fact there was a ip conflict inside the LAN because the DHCP was giving in-use ip address.
I decide to use the NAT connection with Port Forwarding on VirtualBox.
With that configuration I'm able to access my VMs on my LAN using the host ip address followed by the port of my choice.
Not very sure I understood the problem in detail.Please let me explain step by step.
I setup two web servers and one at my PC and another one at AWS EC2 instance.
I installed phpmyadmin for localhost. I can access my phpmyadmin at localhost and setup database and web application at localhost.
When I tried to install phpmyadmin at AWS EC2 instance, installation is fine.
But access to the phpmyadmin has problem and always have 403 Forbidden error.
That error is always because of right ip address issue at /etc/httpd/conf.d/phpMyAdmin.conf file.
The problem is there. If I set the Public ip for that particular EC2 instance, I have 403 Forbidden error.If I changed to default ip as 127.0.0.1, then I can access the phpmyadmin installed at my localhost not at EC2 instance. So I am curious about
(1)Why I can't access the phpmyadmin installed at EC2 instance with Public IP address of that instance.
(2)Why there is a connection or link or association between the two phpmyadmin installed at my localhost and the EC2 instance?

Let me see if I understood your question well.
127.0.0.1 is localhost address, if you try to access that Ip from your computer you will be accessing your own pc and everything that is installed in there: mysql, phpmyadmin, etc
For the AWS server, to access phpmyadmin from outside make sure that the security group assigned to your EC2 server has port 80 enabled from your public IP address at the inbound tab
