Where to get images for pygame? - pygame

Hi I'm brand new to programming and I'm trying to program a sight reading app using pygame. I'm on a mac. I just need somewhere where I can download or create and save images onto my computer that can be manipulated using pygame. I've spent 3 days so far just trying to get something that resembles a note or bars that I can save in a file and load into a pygame window without success. I tried drawing it out on gimp, downloading premade stuff online (which my computer cant open for some reason even though its downloaded in files in my finder), and using a few different applications that have to do with creating sheet music. Basically my problem is that I have no idea how all the different types of files work and my computer just doesn't even open 99% of what I download or save, it just opens up an app, "File into Professional" and then gives me a window with a bunch of gibberish and apparently that has to do with the file I'm trying to open. Any advice is appreciated, obviously I have no idea what I'm doing.

When opening a 'image file' (.jpg,.png,etc) with some program, and it ends up opening with gibberish, that means that that file type is not supported by that program and it just defaulted to opening the binary of the file.
When opening image files (I'm assuming that is what you are using for your assets), you can just use the default 'photos' app. You can right click and select 'open with' if double click is not opening with photos.
I would suggest saving your gimp images as .png files (remember you need to export as .png or save as .png, not just rename the files after saving them).
What types (in terms of file extensions) are you trying to open and having difficulty?

Unable to modify value of "prompt_for_download" in chrome preferences file

Gurus,
I am using uipath(A Ui Based Automation Tool) to download a file from a website using chrome browser.
I want browser to not prompt before downloading and just download the file in the downloads folder.
From various posts on this website i found that there exists a file called "preferences" which can be modified to solve this problem.
Before coding further i decided to do the changes in the "preferences" file manually on multiple machines, just to make sure that the changes i do in the preferences file reflect in the chrome browser as well .
I am manually modifying values for these 2 options in the preferences file.
download.default_directory
download.prompt_for_download
When i changed value for download.default_directory(Manually in Preferences file), it reflects the same in the chrome browser settings on every machine that i tested on.
But When i change value for download.prompt_for_download, it reflected in the chrome browser settings on some of the machines while on others i found that it does not reflect in the browser and rather the preferences file also seems to have reverted back to previous values.
The steps i followed are as below..
close any running instance of chrome
do the modifications in the preference file and save it
open chrome and go to settings>advance and downloads
i see DreamCatcher pointing to a similiar situation in this post, but no answers there..
I hope I can help solve your issue or at least give you some direction :)
Option#1: Chrome Settings
Wouldn't the problem be solved by changing the settings for downloads in the browser before running the bot? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95759?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Option#2: Do it in UiPath
And the other thing, is that when the prompt (to save the file) appears, couldn't you insert the path of the file that includes the default folder to save + name file + extension? (e.g. on the save path of the prompt, use type text "c:\myDocuments\downloads\filename.ext" ? I've done this in the past with UiPath...get the prompt window, type text and just modify the string being passed to carry the path, file name and extensio...then click "SAVE" or use hotkey "Enter"(if the file requires replacement, these are another 20cents you will have to program in UiPath, but it'd doable).
Option#3: Script
Another option, which I have not done, but see my friends do is creating BAT files to reset certain browser settings or the "registry"...so what they do is that they configure the BAT to do the changes to the browser and they add an activity (in UiPath) to invoke the BAT file every time the browser is opened by the robot.

mijovideos plugin is not uploading larger files 128MB and small

im using mijovideos as my joomla plugin for my videosharing component and it wont let me upload larger files(128mb) on the second option also the smaller videos like 80mb and below keep saying ERROR Processing mp4 file but the file is uploaded.enter image description here
As far as upload limits are concerned, you'll need to get into your php.ini file and edit the upload limit on that.
Locate your PHP.ini file
You can do that unless you're running off of GoDaddy servers, in which case your PHP.ini is inaccessible. So you'll need to create your own and put it in your site's base directory.
When it comes to video uploading, I'm unfamiliar with mijovideos. I would recommend using All Video Share to get the job done. It works well enough for my website, although you'll need to do quite a bit of tweaking to get it to fit your site's design and format. Which is true for any website / extension, I assume.

How to open a heavy html file

I have recently downloaded my facebook archive, which is a very old account I started in 2009.
There is some conversations I would like to read, the main problem is that messages.html inside the zip weights 98 mo.
Unfortunately, neither mozilla or google chrome can open those 21109 lines of codes in a webview without crashing.
I could open the document with Notepad++, but it's just like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Could you help me please ?
Further to the LINUX comments, we can only assume you are trying to look (or search) inside the html file. You can use any good, text editor like: TextPad, EditPad, etc. You can also download "Unxutils" (not it is not mis-spelled) and use the Windows ports of grep/sed/awk/head/tail/cut etc. There maybe comments or answers posted to use Cygwin which work fine, but require the use of DLL libraries and such. The UnxUtils are stand-alone exe files are work right out of the box with no installation required.
If you are interested in getting some readable files for each conversation you can use the first part of this tutorial which generates csv files which are easily searchable.

Database content not retrieved in the exported SWF and published HTML

I have this problem that when i am running my project in Flash cs6 using ctrl+enter, the project is ok, the flash player is retrieving the files from mysql database. but when i run the independent swf file outside, there is no retrieval happening. the text box that suppose to be showing the retrieved data is empty. how can i fix this?
Make sure you are running the published html from an actual page in the browser and not from the local file system.
Just make sure that the URL doesn't start with file:///
You must be having a security sandbox error, but you probably don't have the Debugger version of the Flash Player, so it's not telling you anything.
Just go to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and choose the proper one for your operating system and browser.
If you STILL want to run the files from your local file system, you can have a look at Flash Player's Global Configuration, to give access to the files/directories you want. Just right click on your swf file in the browser, and when the Menu opens, select Global Configuration.
The reason it is working when running inside Flash CS6 is that the player has less security restrictions in there.
Let me know if you were able to solve your problem.

When I zip up my demo FlashDevelop project..why does it break?

I built an AS3 image gallery using FlashDevelop.
Before I zip up the application, I can run the image gallery in my browser by simply opening the index.html for the project. Everything works perfectly.
I then zip up the project as proj-0.1.2.zip using winrar.
I then unzip this newly created zip and try to load the application using the project index.html like above. The gallery doesn't function properly. From seeing what happens, it appears as though the image metadata is not present(but I'm not sure, see below).
There are other applications as well that are broken. Videos don't load. If an application doesn't depend on any external assets then everything looks fine.
Another thing..If I then build the FlashDevelop project and republish the swf..then it works in the index.html like I want. What is going on here?
I want people to be able to fire up my demo apps out of the box by just running the index.html. If that doesn't always work and they have to figure out that they need to rebuild the SWF then that's pretty bad.
I don't think zipping is the problem, I think moving to a different folder is a problem.
I assume you are running this index.html on your local PC, and not on a webserver?
By default, Flash cannot access from a local SWF to load other local files. However, FlashDevelop / Flash CS3 / Flex Builder, in order to get around this restriction, set some flags in the flash player telling him "This SWF is a trusted SWF, allow him to open local files". But it's based on the exact location of the SWF.
There's a setting somewhere in the compiler, that sets a flag in the SWF saying "This SWF can access local data", but there's one downside: It blocks all access to network resources. So it's either/or: access local data, OR access network resources (anything that goes over HTTP, Socket, etc). I'm not sure where this setting is offhand. It may be that the default setting for Flash CS3 is different than the default setting for FlashDevelop.
Anyway, the easy way to avoid all this issue is to not run the file locally. Put it on your webserver before testing.
