Actually I am writing junits for a class using #Autowired AppLog .
And using this.applog.logInfo("field",+object.getFieldName()), they are trying to print values.
I am not getting how to mock this thing.
I am already using #RunWith(SpringRunner.class).
Can powerMock help in this case? I Will be thankful if someone can help.
In Spring we have a class know as [ReflectionTestUtils][1] which can be utilized if you are testing classes with dependencies. In this case as we have applog autowired.
So, we under #Before annotation method can define:
ReflectionTestUtils.setField(instanceOfClassWeAreTesting,"appLog",mockedApplogInstance).
Hope it help if someone face any issue in future.

Hey guys I have a question about SqlRowSet in junit testing. Does anyone have examples or ways to mock an SqlRowSet. To add fake values to it and using it to test your method? I know I am being a little vague here but I have never worked with an SqlRowSet till now so it is confusing to me. Thank you!
There are many frameworks for mocking the real objects for example Mockito, PowerMockito. Below snippet is written in Mockito. Update the test case as per your requirements.
#Test
public void testSqlRowSet() {
SqlRowSet sqlRowSet = Mockito.mock(SqlRowSet.class);
JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate = Mockito.mock(JdbcTemplate.class);
Mockito.when(jdbcTemplate.queryForRowSet(Mockito.anyString(), Mockito.eq(Integer.class))).thenReturn(sqlRowSet);//Change the method parameters accordingly
Mockito.when(sqlRowSet.next()).thenReturn(true);
}
Is there are any way to instantiate an object of UploadedFile without using Mockito?
I've been searching but I only have found examples using Mockito. I'm trying to do Junits and I would like to avoid using it.
Thanks!
It is an interface, so if you don't want to use Mockito (or a similar mocking tool) just create your own class and implement the interface explicitly. There are not that many methods, so it is straightforward.
EDIT: or just use the public constructor in DefaultUploadedFile and go with that implementation.
I have this line which is interferring in a unit test:
OtherClass.staticMethodThatWillErrorIfCalled().isAvailable();
If it wasn't static I could just mock OtherClass and then do this:
Mockito.doReturn(null).when(mockedOtherClass).staticMethodThatWillErrorIfCalled();
Mockito.doReturn(true).when(mockedOtherClass).isGuiMode();
and the fact that it will error if called makes my attempts at using powermockito futile.
I'm not sure how I can do this. All I want to do is skip over this line (it's an if check) and continue on as if it had returned true. What is the best way to do this?
I would require more info to give a more specific answer but this is what I am thinking...
First tell PowerMockito that you will be mocking a static method in OtherClass.
#RunWith(PowerMockRunner.class)
#PrepareForTest(OtherClass.class)
These are class level annotations that go on your unit testing class.
Then mock what to do when that method is called.
PowerMockito.mockStatic(OtherClass.class);
Mockito.when(OtherClass.isAvailable()).thenReturn(Boolean.TRUE);
Do this in your #Before method on your unit testing.
I have a REST service class in which uriInfo object is automatically injected through #UriInfo annotation. Now, while writing JUnit for this class, I want to get a mock object created for this UriInfo object without introducing any new setter methods into the tested class just for the sake of setting the mocked UriInfo into it. Kindly let me know if you have any suggestions. We are using EasyMock and PowerMock.
You can use Powermock's Whitebox to modify the internal state of an object. One of the simplest invocations is:
Whitebox.setInternalState(tested, myMock);
I was trying to mock final class(AnyFinalClass.java) in junit using JDave in eclipse.
public void setUp() throws Exception {
Mockery mockery = new Mockery() {{
setImposteriser(ClassImposteriser.INSTANCE);
}};
AnyFinalClass any = mockery.mock(AnyFinalClass.class);
}
I am trying to use jdave-unfinalizer-1.1.jar as javaagent but didnt had any success. I tried multiple things but getting following exception
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot subclass final class class AnyFinalClass
at net.sf.cglib.proxy.Enhancer.generateClass(Enhancer.java:446)
at net.sf.cglib.core.DefaultGeneratorStrategy.generate(DefaultGeneratorStrategy.java:25)
Can someone who has already tried jdave unfinalizer give me exact step how to make it work on eclipse.
I set following in eclipse.ini file but got the problem
-Xbootclasspath/a:lC:\WS\JunitTesting\jars\asm-3.0.jar
-javaagent:C:\WS\JunitTesting\jars\jdave-unfinalizer-1.1.jar
While running executing the junit, I gave vm argument as
javaagent:C:\WS\JunitTesting\jars\jdave-unfinalizer-1.1.jar
I am not sure what will be the code. jdave is not having the code and its site is pointing to some other site which is not working. Please correct my code or provide your same working code.
Any help is highly appreciated.
from Enhancer.java line 446:
if (TypeUtils.isFinal(sc.getModifiers()))
throw new IllegalArgumentException("Cannot subclass final class " + sc);
I have not worked with JDave but with another mocking frameworks and the only one that allows to mock a final class was powermock
Look also here
In order to get unfinalizer running you have to put -javaagent:path_to_unfinalizer/jdave-unfinalizer-1.1.jar in the VM arguments of the run configuration of the test.
I also had to include several dependencies of jdave-unfinalizer in the classpath of the project from which the tests ar being launched. These are, taken from the maven definitions of jdave:
jdave-core 1.1
cglib-nodep 2.1_3
objenesis 1.0
asm 3.0
asm-commons 3.0
asm-tree 3.0
