I embed PDF on my site using the above code. The GoogleBot does not "see" the pdf embedded. The page has no other visual content on it except a link to download the same PDF. I want the bot to read the PDF and want the page to show up in SERP.
Will it work? If not, what are the options?

I'm using php, I'm creating a detailed view page of a profile, which has a pdf document, I use the embed tag to display it, but when opened it does not display the pdf file and Automatically download the file. Therefore the user can not see the pdf file displayed.

PDF documents are not supported as a src in the HTML <embed> tag.
You can get around this issue by using the Google Chrome PDF viewer as the embed `src.

Note that your url in the src cannot be relative /vh/assets/image/java.pdf, it must be the full url http://yourdomain.com/vh/assets/image/java.pdf.
There also exist some third party libaries such as PDF.JS.
You can refer to w3schools embed tag,It is an html single tag,I can display pdf normally in chrome and firefox.Maybe you can check if your src is correct.
You can try below snippet #toolbar=0 helps disabling the options

Is this possible? Everything I'm google leads me to converting markdown to PDF. But I want to display a PDF image in a markdown file. This is my example:
If i use a regular image, it works just fine. Also I'm aware of converting PDF to image.
Markdown itself doesn't have a mechanism for embedding a PDF. However, Markdown accepts raw HTML in its input and passes it through unaltered. So the question you might want to ask is: How would you embed a PDF in HTML? In other words, what HTML would one use to have a browser display a PDF embedded in an HTML page? You would just include that HTML in your Markdown document.
You can find lots of suggestions in answers to the question: Recommended way to embed PDF in HTML?. For example, this answer provides a nice solution with a fallback for older browsers (all credit goes to Suneel Omrey):

I have found a better way by using xfun R package.
xfun::embed_file("homework.pdf")
This will embed your pdf file in the output of the Rmarkdown. MOre information can be seen via link.

I am trying to embed a company PowerPoint presentation into an intranet website and am having some issues. I tried converting to pdf and embedding it with this html:

but there is a link in the ppt that stops linking correctly somehow. So I tried converting to an htm page and doing a javascript redirect to that page but I get a page that just says my browser doesnt have the correct plugin to open the pdf.
And unfortunately, being a company project, we aren't allowed to use commercially available cloud storage (ie: Google Docs, Onedrive, etc.) for security and privacy purposes. Are there other ways to embed the powerpoint, not using 3rd party software?
I need to embed a PDF document inside an HTML page. The PDF is dynamically generated, i.e., not a static file, but rather a byte-array generated using a PDF toolkit (in my case, "Apache PDFBox"). I have a Java Web app.
From what I understand, there are 2 ways to embed a PDF: using the OBJECT and IFRAME tags.
The <object> tag does not work for me. When I have a dynamically-generated source, it takes 20 sec. to render. I'm not sure if that is a problem of the Acrobat Reader plugin, but I have not been able to get around this strange behavior.
The <iframe> tag works fine and displays the PDF. But here's the problem: My PDF has a Submit button which submits the form. After I submit the form, I need to re-display the PDF with some kind of status message. The form output goes to the same frame. Thus, I get a Frame-inside-a-Frame. There is no way to break out of the current frame, because I don't have access to the <form> tag. The form is contained inside the PDF and Acrobat takes care of submitting the form. If I have extra elements in my frame, such as a text message, I will get cascading frames.
Any ideas how to resolve this?

Is there any way to embed a PowerPoint slide show in an HTML page using just the standard tags etc? I tried using a iframe, but that just results in the PowerPoint being downloaded.

I am looking for a way to show the slide show using only standard stuff. I realize I could use google docs or flash or something, but I'd rather have a simple implementation.
Does the web just not know how to process a PowerPoint presentation?

Just to update this question - as there is a new way to embed Powerpoints in a web page. If you have an account on OneDrive, do the following using Powerpoint Online (accessing Powerpoint via the browser) to embed a Powerpoint:
Click 'File', then 'Share', then 'Embed'
Click the 'Generate' button to generate HTML code to be embedded
Copy the 'Embed Code' and paste it in the HTML of a website
Web browsers don't understand power point, but there are solutions besides Flash.
You could export it to HTML or a PDF. Or you could also upload to site like slideshare and make use of their players which are built for this problem.
I have decided to take a hack route and upload the powerpoint onto YouTube and then just include the youtube video in the iframe.

I eventually checked my page as XHTML Strict, which does not support the <iframe> tag. So I used the object tag instead.

If you are using Google slides you could easily publish it on the web and also embed the slide in an iframe.
Go to google slides -> file-> sharing -> embed and copy the code
and then in your HTML file use the below code to show slides in fullscreen mode.

why not use prezi, I just use it in my work, very easy and useful.
I was able to do this by saving the PPT as an mp4 (Save As > MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)) and then using the video tag.
