I'm struggling to get consistent results using Laravel Dusk to send emails
via logging into Gmail and navigating to the "COMPOSE" button since the elements ID and class is being dynamically changed on page reload.
I have tried using inspect element and copying the selector with no luck.
The purpose of this exercise is just to get a better understanding of Laravel Dusk and have some fun while going about it.
My code below:
public function testGmailExample()
{
$this->browse(function (Browser $browser) {
$browser->visit('http://gmail.com')
->assertSee('Gmail')
->type('Email', 'myemail#gmail.com')
->pause(1000)
->press('#next')
->pause(1000)
->assertSee('myemail#gmail.com')
->type('#Passwd', 'myPassword')
->press('#signIn')
->waitFor('#\3a xy > div > div', 10)
->click('#\3a xy > div > div')
->pause(1000)
->type('to', 'an_excited_friends_email#gmail.com')
->type('subjectbox','Laravel Dusk is Awesome')
->click('Send')
->pause(3000);
//Only had one success with the above code, would prefer consistent results
});
}
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You can use clickLink() for that :
$browser->clickLink('COMPOSE');
From the documentation :
To click a link, you may use the clickLink method on the browser instance. The clickLink method will click the link that has the given display text

$this->browse(function (Browser $browser) {
$browser->click('.md-button:nth-child(2)');
});
I want to click the class element 2. How to get nth-child class in laravel dusk.
Sometimes using Dusk to select certain elements can be tricky. It can be done by using the script method as a workaround which doesn't appear in the documentation as a far as I can see. You can then execute any JavaScript inside to select any element you like. jQuery makes this easy.
Try using:
$browser->script('$(".md-button:nth-child(2)").click();');
You can always do this by copying the css selector via your browser's dev tools. Where you right click on the element you want, then click inspect element, then when the developer tools window shows up, right click on the HTML element in the dev tools window, and select copy > copy selector, and then paste into your IDE where you're writing the test. This is a test I've run successfully as an example:
$this->browse(function (Browser $browser) {
$browser->visit(new UniversityCoursesListingPage)
->assertVisible('.course-list-content')
->assertVisible('.form-control')
->select('.course-filter select', 'title|desc')
->assertSeeIn('div:nth-child(1) > article > a > h3', 'Whitepaper Training')
->clickLink('My Account');}
Hi I am trying to access the DIV element using watir but I am unable to do that,I have tried in different ways but couldn't access it,may be I think it need to be access through some parent element can anyone help me out?
My system Configurations
IE-8
Windows 7
I tried with the below command
#ie.div(:text,'COMPOSE').click
the command gets execute with no errors but no action is performed on the UI
The best solution appears to be switching to Watir-Webdriver. With Watir-Webdriver, #ie.div(:text,'COMPOSE').click will work as expected.
Assuming that is not an option, there are a couple of reasons why that same command does not work with Watir(-Classic) v1.6.7:
The first problem is that #ie.div(:text,'COMPOSE').click will find the first div that contains this text. This would be one of the ancestors of the div you want. As a result, Watir will send the click event against the wrong element.
The second problem is that the div is not responding to the onclick event fired by Watir. I am not sure why this problem exists.
To solve the first problem, you will need to be more specific when locating the div. In this case, the "role" attribute can be used since none of the ancestor elements have this attribute. Watir-Classic does not support using the role attribute as a locator. As a result, you will need to create a custom locator using an element collection and the find method:
#ie.divs.find{ |div| div.attribute_value('role') == 'button' && div.text == 'COMPOSE' }
To solve the second problem, it turns out that double clicking does work. While newer versions of Watir-Classic have a double_click method implemented, it does not exist in 1.6.7. You can replicate the method by calling the fire_event method:
.fire_event('ondblclick')
Putting it all together, the following will click the compose button:
#ie.divs.find{ |div| div.attribute_value('role') == 'button' && div.text == 'COMPOSE' }.fire_event('ondblclick')
There may be more than one element on the page with the text 'COMPOSE', some may be hidden. Try:
#ie.divs(:text,'COMPOSE').size
That is divs with an s.
Then you can try something like the following and see if you get a change in the UI:
#ie.divs(:text,'COMPOSE').each { |b| b.fire_event('click') }
I remember that fire_event works better, but would recommend consulting the docs for the difference between .click and fire_event.
i've been trying this since last week, to make the active class work on those dynamic links:
<li>{{#linkTo tag 'bw'}}Black and White{{/linkTo}}</li>
<li>{{#linkTo tag 'instax'}}Instax{{/linkTo}}</li>
<li>{{#linkTo tag 'digital'}}Digital{{/linkTo}}</li>
I put a code running here: http://jsbin.com/opuzop/1/edit so if you feel ok to help me with that would be great :D it's my photo portfolio as well.
Also, if I try to upload to the newer version of Ember, some stuff stop to work, like the JS I created on
App.GeneralView = Ember.View.extend({
didInsertElement: function() {
if(this.$() !== undefined){...
It was created to load after the view render, so I do a image resize and a body resize too, and set everything horizontal, but with the newer version it only work when accessed directly.
Also, sometimes it don't get the JSON from Tumblr and stop working.
I'm not sure, but I think it has to do with the serialization of your object, try adding something like this in your "App.TagRoute" route:
serialize: function(param) {
return {tag: param.tag}
}
I´m evaluating GWT as one of the alternatives to develop AJAX applications for my future projects. Untill now it is as good as it gets, but now I´m stuck looking for a way to capture a click on a tag inside HTML widget. I want to write links inside the HTML but I want to process the clicks in my application, withou reloading the page. Imagine I have the following HTML:
<p>GWT is a great tool and I think it will be my preferred tool to develop web applications. To check out my samples <a id='mylink'>click here</a></p>
I want to capture the click over the "click here" part of the text. What I´ve done so far is to try to attach the id "mylink" to some sort of clickable widget and process the click with a ClickHandler for that widget, but nothing is working.
Is there a way to do that? By the way, I know very little about Javascript.
Thank you in advance.
You can also do it like this:
Anchor.wrap(DOM.getElementById("mylink")).addClickHandler(yourClickHandler);
DOM class is com.google.gwt.user.client.DOM.
Edit after comments.
OK, the method works for elements out of GWT widgets (element comes with HTML file). If you need to generate it in GWT code then you can add link element separately. But it won't work if your content goes for instance from DB.
HTMLPanel html = new HTMLPanel("GWT is a great tool and I think it will be my preferred tool to develop web applications. To check out my samples ");`
Anchor a = new Anchor("click here");
a.addClickHandler(yourClickHandler);
html.add(a);
If it is fully dynamic I don't have an idea at this point. I was trying with HTML() widget, where you can plug your click handler, but I couldn't find a right way to determine whether the click was in A element. Strange.
The final approach (I hope)
This one should work finally. And I think this is the way it should be done, especially that it allows any structure of the HTML. The are two ways:
1. Convert links within HTMLPanel
This one will find all A elements and convert them into Anchors. It ignores href attribute, but you can add it easily :)
HTMLPanel html = new HTMLPanel("<p>Multilink example 2: <a>link1</a> and <a>link2</a></p>");
NodeList<Element> anchors = html.getElement().getElementsByTagName("a");
for ( int i = 0 ; i < anchors.getLength() ; i++ ) {
Element a = anchors.getItem(i);
Anchor link = new Anchor(a.getInnerHTML());
link.addClickHandler(...);
html.addAndReplaceElement(link, a);
}
2. Insert links into prepared spots
Just insert placeholders, where the widgets should be inserted. You could also use the addAndReplaceElement() method but with string ID.
Anchor a1 = new Anchor("a1");
a1.addClickHandler(...);
Anchor a2 = new Anchor("a2");
a2.addClickHandler(...);
HTMLPanel html = new HTMLPanel("<p>Multilink example: <span id='a1'></span> and <span id='a2'></span></p>");
html.add(a1, "a1");
html.add(a2, "a2");
Try something like this.
For your web page, you can use UiBinder:
<!DOCTYPE ui:UiBinder SYSTEM "http://dl.google.com/gwt/DTD/xhtml.ent">
<ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui="urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder"
xmlns:g="urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui">
<g:HTMLPanel ui:field="panel">
<p>
GWT is a great tool and I think it will be my preferred tool to
develop web applications. To check out my samples
<g:Anchor ui:field="myLink" text="click here" />
</p>
</g:HTMLPanel>
</ui:UiBinder>
Notice that I've replaced your tag with an Anchor widget. There is also a Hyperlink widget, which has hooks into the history system.
The Anchor has a id of "myLink", which is used in the GWT companion to the XML file:
public class So extends Composite {
private static SoUiBinder uiBinder = GWT.create(SoUiBinder.class);
interface SoUiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget, So> {
}
#UiField
Anchor myLink;
public So() {
initWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this));
myLink.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
#Override
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
GWT.log("caught the click");
}
});
}
}
I've added a ClickHandler that captures and acts on the click event.
The main program is simple:
public class SOverflow implements EntryPoint {
public void onModuleLoad() {
RootLayoutPanel.get().add(new So());
}
}
Run this after and a webpage appears with the text and hyperlink. Click on it and "caught the click" appears in the console window (I'm using Eclipse).
I hope this is what you're after. If not exactly, it might at least give you some ideas of how to attack your problem.
Using mootools.js 1.3.2 and mootools-more.js
As far as I can tell this is supposed to reveal the div and also hide the content and linkTab divs at the same time.
$('blogLink').addEvent('click', function(){
$('homeLink').removeClass('active');
$('linkTab').removeClass('active');
$('blogLink').addClass('active');
content.slideOut();
linkTab.slideOut();
blogLink.slideIn();
});
This is the HTML
Blog
<div id="blogContent">
content here
</div>
It all works properly and that's OK but in addition to this, I also want to be able to give people a URL like http://mysite.com/#blogLink and have that blogContent div opened. When I do that now, it takes me to the top of the page and the blogContent div is hidden.
How do I do achieve that? I did try adding the mootools-smoothscroll.js and using the method outlined here http://davidwalsh.name/smooth-scroll-mootools but that just broke the entire page - would not load properly.
I have zero experience with mootools and weak on Javascript so please excuse me if I take a while to 'get' what you're trying to explain.
Many thanks.
First, are you particularly attached to MooTools? If you're a JavaScript newbie, jQuery is probably easier to use and definitely has a larger support community. But I'll post a solution that should work in MooTools for now:
If I understand you correctly, what you want to achieve is the following:
The anonymous function you posted will run when "Blog" is clicked
The function will also run if someone visits the page with #blogLink in the URL.
That's not too difficult to achieve:
// Once the DOM has loaded - so that our elements are definitely available
window.addEvent('domready', function() {
// Check for #blogLink hashtag, and reveal blog
if(window.location.hash == 'blogLink') { revealBlog(); }
// Make sure blog is revealed when link is clicked
$('blogLink').addEvent('click', revealBlog);
});
function revealBlog() {
$('homeLink').removeClass('active');
$('linkTab').removeClass('active');
$('blogLink').addClass('active');
content.slideOut();
linkTab.slideOut();
blogLink.slideIn();
}
You could also change your link mark-up to:
Blog
To make sure they're always on the correct link when the blog is revealed.
