I'm reading some values from a csv like this:
But I'm getting some strange extra characters at the beginning of the ID value like this:
The CSV file is just an id, a name and line breaks. Why do I get these other characters?
The specific characters you see ( or EF BB BF in hex) are Byte order mark for UTF-8. So it is coming from your CSV file, likely somehow added on saving the file. So try to set File encoding parameter to UTF-8, it should help.
In my case I have selected UTF-8 as encoding, It worked fine for few parameters, but I still observed  before one parameter i.e URL.
CSV used: url,id,token
Url looks like: abc.def.ghi.jkl.com
Id looks like: jhas880ad
token is JWT token
I observed following exception in jMeter response:

Then after a long research, following solution worked for me:
Jmeter put  as prefix for the value of 1st variable taken from CSV file
Thus I used one dummy entry in beginning of csv file and wrote dummy variable name in jMeter csv data set config

Updated CSV looked like: dummy,url,id,token
This solution might not be practical for huge data but if you have very few records then you can consider this.
Also, if someone is aware of another workaround, feel free to post.
If you are exporting a ResultSet from DBeaver to a CSV, once you get to the "Output" tab, make sure to select "UTF-8" in the "Encoding" list AND to uncheck the "Insert BOM" box. That worked for me.

I am trying to figure out why MYSQL isn't working as expected.
I imported my data from a CSV into a table called Products, which is shown in the screenshot. It's a small table of just ID and Name.
But when I run the where clause, finding out where the Name = 'SMS', it returns nothing? I don't understand what the issue is.

It's happened to me too before, and the problem is because there's some blank space in the data in csv file.
So maybe you could parse first your csv file data (remove the "not needed" blank space) before import it to database
This is often caused by spaces or look-alike characters. If caused by spaces or invisible characters at the beginning/end, you can try:
where name like '%SMS%'
You can then make this more general:
where name like '%S%M%S%'
When you get a match, you'll need to do more investigate to find the actual cause.
I have a DHTMLX grid on a page that saves data through a php connector file to a DB. The data from the grid is shown through xml encoding that is rendered in the PHP connector file.
Japanese words in the grid show up in Japanese but get saved as: ーダー
However they do stay in Japanese in the grid! (somehow...)
If I save something in the DB on php myadmin, it shows up in the grid as: ???
I checked and everything seems right...
DB fields: UTF-8 √
HTML headers: UTF-8 √
connector.php: UTF-8 √ (checked through network tab, devtools)
Is there anywhere else I should check?
When looking at the PHP file that gives me the DB values, I get XML data that's already garbled:

So maybe the problem lies before the data is received from the server. Does anyone know where I should look for the problem?
Were you expecting ーダー for ーダー? (Mojibake.)
Other times, do you get question marks?
Those two symptoms come from different causes. But both usually involve not declaring the client bytes to be utf8. In php, that can be done with mysqli_set_charset('utf8')
Question marks usually also involves failing to declare the column to be utf8.
To further diagnose, please do
SELECT col, HEX(col) FROM tbl WHERE ...
so we can see whether the text was mangled as it was inserted.
I am downloading CSV files which are comma-separated. The problem i'm having is that the commas are screwing-up my import into a database table (SQL Server). For example, I have a header row called hotel_name, but some of the names are like the following:
HOTEL_NAME
hilton
cambridge,the
The problem is that fields containing a comma in the hotel name will move to the adjacent column, like this I'm wondering if converting from CSV to a pipe-delimited format will work.
The problem i'm having is that i'm not sure how to get started. I've tried following the Powershell documentation but get basic errors. I think this is because i'm new to Powershell and not understanding something. Can someone please post a script of how to change the comma-separated file to a pipe-delimited file?

I have a CSV file that I can open in Excel 2012 and it comes in perfectly. When I try to setup the metadata for this CSV file in Talend the fields (columns) are not splitting the same was as Excel splits them. I suspect I am not properly setting the metadata.
The specific issue is that I have a column with string data in it which may contain commas within the string. For example suppose I have a CSV file with three columns: ID, Name and Age which looks like this:
ID,Name,Age
1,Ralph,34
2,Sue,14
3,"Smith, John", 42
When Excel reads this CSV file it looks at the second element of the third row ("Smith, John") as a single token and places it into a cell by itself.
In Talend it trys to break this same token into two since there is a comma within the token. Apparently Excel ignores all delimeters within a quoted string while Talend by default does not.
My question is how to I get Talend to behave the same as Excel?
if you use tfileinputdelimited component to read this csv file, you can use delimeter as "," and under csv options properties of this component you should enable Text Enclosure """ option or even if you use metadata there would be an option to define string/text enclosure - here you should mention """ to resolve your problem
I need to export varbinary data to file. But, when I do it using Column Transformations in SSIS, the exported files are corrupt. There are few junk characters at the start of the file. On removing them, the file opens fine.
A similar post for BCP, says that these characters specify the data length.
Would like to know how to address this issue in SSIS?

Export transformation is used for converting the varbinary to files.I have tried something similar using Adventure works which has image type of var-binary data.

since it does not have the full path to write image files.

Used the Export column transformation[also available in 2005 and
