OBIEE Agent to send mail doesn't mail - smtp

I am trying to set up via an OBIEE agent. I did the configuration of the smtp server in the EM and tested it via telnet. So this should be okay, but if I am running my agent I get this:
Eventually succeeded, but encountered and resolved errors...
Number of skipped deliveries: 2 of 3
AgentID: /users/weblogic/testagent
[nQSError: 75027] Failed to open connection to SMTP Server (host localhost; port 25).
It says 'localhost' and I don't get why it doesn't connect to my mailserver. What can I do to solve this?
Thanks!
My instanceconfig.xml:
<Alerts>
<ScheduleServer ssl="false">localhost:9705</ScheduleServer>
<OfflinePresentationServicesURL>http://10.232.18.95:9704/analytics/saw.dll</OfflinePresentationServicesURL>
</Alerts>
<ActionFramework>
<WorkflowServer>http://10.232.18.95:9704</WorkflowServer>
<WorkflowService>ANALYTICS</WorkflowService>
<WorkflowSystem>obiaftests</WorkflowSystem>
</ActionFramework>
My schedulerconfig.xml:
<From>Oracle Delivers</From>
<SMTP_Port>25</SMTP_Port>
<SMTP_Server>localhost</SMTP_Server>
<Sender>no-reply#oracle.com</Sender>

There are three steps in doing this:
configuring the SMTP server in Oracle EM
creating an agent in OBIEE
amending the schedulerconfig.xml file (located at OBI_HOME/user_projects/domains/bi/config/fmwconfig/biconfig/OBISCH)
I didn't do step 3 so OBIEE was trying to send over localhost. You should put the same server in here as configured in the EM.

How do I connect a to a mysql database hosted on pythonanywhere?

I have bought a basic 6$ pythonanywhere server which allows for SCP and SSH connections to their servers. I have deployed my flask application (REST API) to the server and set up a local environment (installed packages, set up path and environmental variables). I ran the app, and it gives me the 404 page on the / route which is actually a sign that it is working.
However when I try to hit a route like /api/users/3 for example, it gives me an error 500 (internal server error). I dug around some log files on the server and found one which is basically the output of the WSGI web server which is host to my flask application. It said that there is an issue with the database communication. From what I understand, it connected successfully but it couldn't query the data from the table:
(1044, "Access denied for user 'secret_username'#'%' to database 'test'")
I have tried to fix this through the web mysql console by giving my <secret_username>#secret_username.pythonanywhere.com all the privilages to test.*, but it gives me an access error once again. I tried to SSH into the machine that is host to the mysql server and tried to connect to it - secret_username.mysql.pythonanywhere-services.com but it doesn't allow me to ssh into this server.
Has anyone experienced this issue? I am almost sure that my connection is set up correctly because if it didn't establish connection it would give me an access error with message `using password "yes". I've read on forums a bit, they suggest installing a mysql server on the same server as the flask application, but I don't have access to sude for some reason, probably due to my cheap plan. Any ideas?
If you are using the MySQL database provided by PythonAnywhere, with the hostname secret_username.mysql.pythonanywhere-services.com, then your database will be called secret_username$test, not just test -- see the "Databases" page on the PythonAnywhere website.

How do I connect to an FTP website hosted on Unix server through SSIS?

I need to copy a file from a folder location to Unix server. I am trying to use FTP task in SSIS but while testing the connection from FTP task to the Unix server, I get the below error message:
Error message:
Connection could not be established, Server Name, Port number or
credentials might be invalid.
I have used the following credentials
Server Name: mohawk.am.lilly.com
port number: 22
I provided a valid user name and password. When I tested the connection, I get the error message.
Could someone point to me what I am doing wrong here?
Port number 22 is associated with Secure FTP (SFTP). You need to use port 21 to connect to FTP, if that is what you are trying to do.
FTP Task in SSIS is not capable to perform Secure FTP (SFTP) operations. Read more about other options to perform SFTP within SSIS in this MSDN forums answer:
Can SSIS do SFTP? and how?

Cannot connect to local sql server sqlexpress instance via java nor other tools

I installed SQL Server 2008 Express on Win 7 64. I can connect to it via SQL Server Management Studio using Windows Auth, but not SQl Server Auth. Following the directions in http://www.linglom.com/2009/03/28/enable-remote-connection-on-sql-server-2008-express/, I feel I have properly configured for remote connections & sql server auth. Yet, when I try to login, I get an error stating that the login failed. Googling hasn't seemed to help for the answers do not make sense, do not seem to apply. One of these was a suggestion to change the dynamic port to blank, hard code the port. Since this tool is by default not installed in such fashion, I have a hard time believing this is the actual problem. Not one post I found explained why that should be changed.
The exact message is:
Cannot connect to bvl-wd-bturner\SQLEXPRess
Additional information:
Login failed for user 'DTN\bill.turner'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error 18456)
I attempted to login with the following credentials:
Server type: Database Engine
Server name: bvl-wd-bturner\SQLEXPRESS
Authentication: SQL Server Authentication
Login: DTN\bill.turner
Password:
For what its worth, logging on using Windows auth, I look at the connection properties. The User Name complies with the login above. The Server Name is the same (in fact copy/pasted to be sure for both).
=== UPDATE ===
Windows Firewall is off.
I tried also, even with my reservations, to hardcode the port number, removing the "0" on all dynamic ports and setting the port to 1433. No luck. :-(
=== UPDATE 2 ===
I realized I needed to create a SQL Server account and have done so. I can now log in via SSMS with the following credentials. However, I seem to be unable to login through DbVisualizer or a test java file with the follow:
Driver is net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
Connection url is jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://bvl-wd-bturner:1433/host
The credentials I now use successfully in SSMS are:
Server type: Database Engine
Server name: bvl-wd-bturner\SQLEXPRESS
Authentication: SQL Server Authentication
Login: local
Password:
At this point I have to believe it is something obvious I am missing, but have yet to find it.
The login: DTN\bill.turner looks like a Windows login, not a SQL server login which has no domain component. Is DTN your domain name? If so, providing this with the SQL login will probably confuse the client into trying windows authentication, which will then fail if the login doesn't exist.
What is the name of the SQL server login that you have created (within the SQL management studio)? It shouldn't have a domain\username format, it should just be a username on its own. You also need to make sure that you select SQL authentication when connecting.
Try adding your current logged in account (Windows) to the Local Administrators group on your computer.

Connection String for Remote Connections to SQL Server 2008

I am trying to connect remotely to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express on a server running Windows Server 2008 R2. I receive the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while
establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or
was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that
SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP
Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected
party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established
connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)
I think the problem might be related to my connection string, because I am not sure exactly what it should be. I understand the connection string should take the form:
Data Source=123.123.123.123\InstanceName;Initial Catalog=MyDBName;user id=MyUserName;password=MyPassword;
The instance name of my SQL Server installation takes the form ComputerName\SQLEXPRESS. This is what I see when I log in to Management Studio on the server. So should the connection string begin with
Data Source=123.123.123.123\ComputerName\SQLEXPRESS
This looks wrong because of all the slashes. I have tried to omit the computer name thus:
Data Source=123.123.123.123\SQLEXPRESS
I also read somewhere that you can specify a port so I have also tried
Data Source=123.123.123.123,1433\SQLEXPRESS
because I understand that 1433 is the TCP port used by SQL Server and
Data Source=123.123.123.123,1434\SQLEXPRESS
because I understand that 1434 is the UDP port used by SQL Server browser.
I have also tried every combination of these and they all give the same error.
These are the steps I have taken to enable remote browsing on the server:
In Management Studio, right click the instance, go to Properties, Security and check SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode. On the connections tab I have checked "Allow remote connections to this computer".
In SQL Server Configuration Manager I have enabled all four connection options (Shared Memory, Named Pipes, TCPIP and Via) under every node they occur. Under protocols for SQL Express I have tried specifying port 1433 and also leaving it blank with TCP Dynamic Ports set to 0 (which I think is meant to enable dynamic ports).
I have created firewall exceptions for TCP Port 1433, UDP Port 1434, and program exceptions for sqlservr.exe and sqlbrowser.exe.
If someone could tell me which of the four versions of the DataSource part of the connection string I should be using it would be a great help, even if it did not solve the problem. It would mean that everything I try subsequently I would only have to test once instead of four times.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Where did you enter the firewall exceptions, on your machine, on the server, or both?
The second connection string is the only really valid one. Can you telnet to the server on port 1433? Can you connect to the instance from Management Studio remotely and the problem is only from your code where the connection string is? Did you try running the same code on the server? Did you try forcing TCP/IP (vs. named pipes/shared memory etc) adding the following parameter to your connection string:
Network=DBMSSOCN;
This question comes up quite a lot and I'm sure you're hitting something that others have hit before. Have you gone through this article, "How to troubleshoot connecting to the SQL Server Database Engine"? Also there are 20+ questions on here that mention this error message and Express, according to this search result. I suggest double-checking your settings against some of the items in those answers that solved the issue for other users.

SQL Server connection string to a remote server

I have a remote SQL Server Express (2008 R2) with an IP: xx.xxx.xxx.xx and an instance name: myInstance.
I have been trying to connect to a DB (myDB) as user (dbUser) and with password (myPass).
I have tried various string combinations but none works. I am sure I got it wrong because the server is ok, I can ping the IP Address, SQL Server runs on port 1433, which is open. I have also enabled browser service and remote connection on the server.
Please someone give me the correct string...
How to: Configure Express to accept remote connections
There could be many reasons for this, however, you didn't post any useful details such as error messages or what exception was thrown (if any).
Check that Windows Firewall allows access on port 1433 - this is the most likely reason for the failure, since you are using an IP address and not the name of the instance.
I suggest looking at http://connectionstrings.com to check your connection string.
