I'm trying update my custom component which I had created.
The version number when I installed was 0.0.1. Later on I had to do some changes in the table (had to add a column). So I changed the version number to 0.0.2 and I created a sql file with name 0.0.2.sql.
But when I try to update in extension manager. ie, extension -> manage -> discover -> clicked on discover button. it didn't show my component.
How do I update the component?
When the component is already installed then whatever changes you make to files wont display under discover, unless you are changing the folder names. Better to change the version in xml and add the sql file, zip your component and reinstall it. Remember to have method="upgrade" in your xml file.

I want to add an appSettings section to my app.config, but I am not getting any intellisense. The IDE also has the configuration node underlined and says The configuration element is not declared when I mouse over it, so I wonder if these two issue are related. It does this when I create a new app.config and even when I create an entirely new project. I only have this issue in VS 2019. VS 2010 has intellisense, so something tells me it's a VS setting that points to a reference file containing all the elements available to intellisense.
Why do I have no intellisense in my app.config?
I think your project is created by the old VS2010 version and then migrate into the new VS2019 and the old project type is quite different from VS2019. So there are some factors in your old project which impact intellisense.
You can try these steps:
1) close VS Instance, delete .vs hidden folder, bin, obj folder, then restart your project to test again.
2) open menu XML-->Schemas-->find the entry for DotNetConfig.xsd, select Use this schema and then click OK.
3) If this does not work, please try to add a new app.config file to replace the old file and then migrate its content into the new file.
I want the PhpStorm to insert current namespace by default or with a hotkey or with live templates.
Whet I create new Php class ("New | PHP Class" dialog) there is a field for a namespace. Is there a way for it to be filled automatically? It does not look a big deal because in my case a namespace is just directory path (I use composer) starting from src. My search efforts did not give my anything about this at all. Looks like PhpStrom does not have this feauture. But maybe there is some plugin or a hack?
New | PHP Class dialog should fill the namespace automatically based on the directory where file will be created. If it does not then you have not configured your project properly.
Settings/Preferences | Directories -- ensure that your src folder is marked as Source Root. That's depends on project, of course: for Laravel project you need to map app folder to App\ namespace (typical case).
PhpStorm can also detect source roots from your composer.json settings and can even keep it in sync since 2017.2 version (see https://blog.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/2017/07/configuring-with-composer-in-phpstorm-2017-2/).
Some links to read (official help pages):

I'm exporting an old release 1.9.2 and importing to 3.0.2.
Each module has dozens of videos that I play via an URL/link, which points to my own .PHP program on the site (and that wraps a Camtasia video).
I found that in 3.0.2, the link opens on a separate page, unless I edit each link by going to "Appearance", then "Display" and setting it to "Embed".
So I would like to write a mySQL update script to automatically set this flag for all such links (I will add a where clause to my script name).
I checked database in PHP/MyAdmin, and didn't see any likely table names.
You should attempt to use the admin tools to update everything, go to your moodle installation's main URL.
Then go to the site administration. After /admin in the url, add /tool/replace and go there.
You can there enter what you want to find in the db, and replace it with another value. Just be carefull with this tool and make a backup before you begin.
I have the next configuration for a build system in PhpStorm:
And it works ok, but I have a problem... my build script needs to receive the name of the file I'm running it on, so, if I build a PHP file, it will run phpcs on it, but if I'm building a CSS or JS file, it will run gulp... with Sublime Text that is possible, is it possible with PhpStorm?
There are no macros support for Run/Debug Configurations -- they are made so they do not depend on a context (currently opened file in editor). In other words -- they are pretty static and all file names/paths are basically hard coded.
For what you are describing (build script).. you need to use External Tools functionality (which can have all of that and made specifically for such tasks). Once created, you can assign custom shortcut to any External Tools entry (check Settings/Preferences | Keymap for that) so it's more convenient to use it.
If you want such script to be called on every file save automatically -- then use File Watchers -- pretty much external tools that will be called for you automatically (once per each file modified).
Since you are doing this for a build script -- maybe you should try to use dedicated (and therefore more appropriate in general) tools? For example: Gulp / Grunt .. or even Phing.
Create external tool:
https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/help/external-tools.html
You can assign hotkey to execute your build command.
I am writing a WIX installer and I have a following requirement:
During installation, I need to pass an absolute path to a file (lets call it A) included in my installer to a COM component, which already exists on the hard drive and is a part of another program. I have already written an appropriate Custom Action which expects a path to the file A. I don't want to include A as a file installed in the Program Files folder and removed during the uninstallation process. Instead, I would like to put A only temporary on the hard drive, call my Custom Action which will cause the COM component to use the content of A, and then remove A from disk. Is there an easy way to accomplish this goal?
I have tried to utilize the Binary Table and store A there, however I don't know how to reference A using absolute path. I know I could put A outside of MSI file but I would like to keep every file installer needs in a single MSI.
Any help would be appreciated.
Deleting a file that MSI installed means that MSI will consider it "broken" and try to auto-repair it if called on to do so. That happens automatically in several cases (e.g., advertised shortcuts and COM registration) so I'd recommend against it. Leave the file there instead -- it's done its job and there's no harm in leaving it there.
I would take this approach.
Install the file "A" into any directory. Run your custom action needed to update the COM component. Then run another custom action or modify the currently written one to remove the file after it is no longer in use. This would leave no trace of the file "A" and if you schedule the custom action to only run during the install you won't have to worry about it on uninstall.
