I have just started using Azure and i created a mobile app , setup a database and chose a .net backend .
I got a preconfigured backend folder which i downloaded and then published to my azure server.
However i have no idea how to verify in the azure portal if its working.
I can see my databases but not the actual tables and content .
I'm using .net backend so easytables are not supported .
Does Azure has something like phpmyadmin that lets me check the content of the database while i'm programming ?

You can connect to the database with the usual Sql Server Management Studio tool, or directly from Visual studio using Server/Cloud explorer. If its a SQL Azure database you're connecting to, you need first to find the management blade in the portal for the database and then add your client IP address to the firewall settings for that database server for you to be able to connect from your desktop.

I am creating an android application in android studio and I am using SQLite as the local database. I am using MySQL database as the application server. I want to be able to pull the data from MySQL into Android Studio to access it and also sync the local SQLite database and the MySQL database.
I do not want to use Web services and php files to connect MySQL, I would like to use JDBC instead, so My question is:
can I use JDBC to this purpose and how?
I am new to IBM Worklight,and i found a way to connect to the MySQL using the SQL adapter.
the configuration as below:

Since the adapter are compile together with the app, just wondering, is it safe? is there a possibility of someone decompiling my apk or ipa to view the adapter connection thus acquire the user and password to my mysql database.
A hacker decompiling your .apk or .ipa file will not find the database username/password there, for the simple reason that the adapter is not compiled "together with the app" and is not part of any artifacts that you install in a device.
An adapter is a server-side entity, not client-side.
The adapter is an object stored in the memory of the running application server.
Adapters are Server side code andare not part of the apk or ipa files.

In worklight, you usually have the application (apk/ipa) communicating with a server side component (the adapters) running in a worklight server. The adapters are used to communicate with backend systems (like a mysql server). There are a few different types of adapters to communicate with different types of backends (like sql, http and SAP)
Please, let us know what documentation/guide caused you the understanding that adapters are part of the client apk/ipa. If that is really stated in any documentation, it is wrong and must be corrected.

Also note that, if you are using MobileFirst Studio (previously Worklight Studio) downloaded for free from Developer Works you have a developer version of the WOrklight Server running inside Studio so that you can create and deploy adapters and use it during development as your server. But when you go to production you are required to purchase licenses of Worklight because you don't have the worklight server available for free.
So if you have Studio, you have the server available but only for development purposes.
I am creating my first SSIS package using Business Intelligence in Visual Studio 2012. I am adding the contents of an Excel sheet to an local VS database. In the Destination Assistant I am asked Destination Type = SQL Server, New: Provider - I see no .NET Framework option. The result seems to be that I am then unable to select my server and therefore databases.
Am I just missing the point?
I would recommend that you investigate the destination server and verify that you have the providers installed on that system. Typically these are installed at the time that SQL server is installed, but is possible via custom installation to specify the providers that are installed. It may be necessary for you to install any providers needed. A second option would be to point to a database that you know that you can connect to, say a localhost sandbox or other tried database. That would help you to determine if it's server side or client installation issues.
I'm afraid I have been stuck on this one for a couple days now.
I've worked with databases before (normally using php and a mysql server) but I'm new to visual studio and I just can't seem to find much info on what kind of server you need to connect to (and how).
I guess the first part of my question would be: Can the server running the database be a remotely hosted "online" mysql server or does it have to be installed on your machine (for example like you can install apache)?
The easiest option for me would probably be to connect to my existing mysql server of my online website, but how?
I have sql server management studio installed but am not sure what to enter as the server name etc in the dialog box that shows up.
I do know my mysql server details and all, but just have no idea how where and how or even if I can connect it directly to my visual studio project.
I have looked several times on google but till now I have only been able to find videos and tutorials showing how to create a new database - which assume you are already connected to some sort of server.
Also, if you do use a locally hosted database server then wouldn't you have to port it to a different (online) database once the website goes live?

Yes, the database can be remotely hosted, I'have this working on my local machine with a remote MsSql database. Make sure the remote database server accepts connections from your IP.
I'm pretty sure the MsSql Server Management Studio is only for MsSql, not MySql. The server name in my case is the IP for the remote MsSql database server, further you need the login and password for your database. But if you use your remote MySql, you don't need this tool.
I have no experience with MySql, but it must be possible to use the database in your Visual Studio project with the correct "connectionstring". The connectionstring contains the type of the database, where it is located, login and pasword, etc. You can find the syntax of you connectionstring here: www.connectionstrings.com/mysql/

Hi, I have encountered the above mentioned error while doing an SSRS project. And from the research, it seems like it is SQL server related issue.
I am trying to access a remote SQL server....so I was wondering how can I get rid of that error?
Do I have to install SQL server Standard edition on my local machine or the server that I am trying to access should be installed with Sql Standard edition?
I have got Express editions installed on both my local machine and the server...

From Books Online:
Report data sources must be SQL Server relational databases that run
locally in SQL Server Express.
Features Supported by Reporting Services in SQL Server Express.
With SQL Server Express you can only use a Data Source where the database engine is from the same instance running SSRS.
If you need to connect to other instances your only options are to get a backup restored to your local instance or to install a SQL Server edition that allows remote Data Sources; most likely Developer for your own needs or Standard or above for any production instances.
It depends on what's allowed under your specific licencing agreement.
A neat way to get around this (that just worked for me) is to add a Linked Server on the Local machine to point to the server that hosts your remote data source.
Then modify your Dataset query in the SSRS report to look something like this...
select * from openquery(REMOTE_SERVER,'Put your original query here');
