How do I center 2 divs in HTML Bootstrap? - html

As the title says, how do I center two divs next to each other perfectly?
My HTML: (or well, a bit of it)
<section class="team" id="team">
<div class="container">
<h3>The team behind CatCraft</h3>
<div class="divider">
<div class="hr">
<div class="hr-dot"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row row-centered">
<div class="team-centered col-md-4">
<img src="http://cravatar.eu/helmhead/6a940db5e02d4bf79db9203a8b126f0d/140.png" alt="catx">
<h4 class="bold">CatX (Owner)</h4>
<p>Hi! I'm CatX and I'm the owner of CatCraft. I like anime and tech stuff. My favourite server is bending. =^_^=</p>
</div>
<div class="team-centered col-md-4">
<img src="http://cravatar.eu/helmhead/ef4fbdb6d629480d8f98ed9919c111e9/140.png" alt="__ast__">
<h4 class="bold">__Ast__ (Co-Owner)</h4>
<p>Example text, pls write something ;-;</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</section>
My CSS: (same here, this isn't all)
I tried to make a box for the css above too but it didn't work. http://pastebin.com/SzhAmh3f
Basically the problem I'm having is that the code above works kind of but one of the blocks are a little bit lower than the other and i have no idea why.
Yes, I know that there are other posts about this subject but no one worked for me so I decided to open my own.

There are a lot of unwanted styles actually to achieve this, you simply need the below code on your team-centered class. Remove row-centered class. It should look like this
CSS
.team img {
width: 140px;
height: 140px;
border-radius: 50%;
margin: 10px auto 40px;
}
.team-centered {
width: 50%;
float:left;
text-align: center;
}
HTML
<section class="team" id="team">
<div class="container">
<h3>The team behind CatCraft</h3>
<div class="divider">
<div class="hr">
<div class="hr-dot"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="team-centered">
<img src="http://cravatar.eu/helmhead/6a940db5e02d4bf79db9203a8b126f0d/140.png" alt="catx">
<h4 class="bold">CatX (Owner)</h4>
<p>Hi! I'm CatX and I'm the owner of CatCraft. I like anime and tech stuff. My favourite server is bending. =^_^=</p>
</div>
<div class="team-centered">
<img src="http://cravatar.eu/helmhead/ef4fbdb6d629480d8f98ed9919c111e9/140.png" alt="__ast__">
<h4 class="bold">__Ast__ (Co-Owner)</h4>
<p>Example text, pls write something ;-;</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>

Issue with text not showing due to Overflow Hidden

So bit of background on my issue. I'm using an external carousel and I am trying to modify each image section to include text. There seems to be an overflow:hidden on the sp-carousel-frame class that is making it not visible but without this the unselected images on either side go full size.
I basically need the item-text class to be displayed.
I really hope I explained this ok.
I'm going include an image that shows the issue below.
HTML
<script src="https://wordpress-84115-1849710.cloudwaysapps.com/wp-content/themes/inspiration-marketing-theme/assets/js/carousel.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.2/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<div class="container collaboration-header">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<h1>Collaboration and Teamwork</h1>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="container main-carousel">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<div class="sp-carousel-frame sp-carousel-frame-pos">
<div class="sp-carousel-inner">
<div class="sp-carousel-item" style="overflow: visible !important;">
<img src="https://gdxdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Main-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
<div class="item-text">
Hello World
</div>
</div>
<div class="sp-carousel-item"><img src="https://gdxdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Left-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="sp-carousel-item"><img src="https://gdxdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Right-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS
.collaboration-header h1{
text-align: center;
padding: 1.5em 0;
}
.main-carousel {
margin-bottom: 20% !important;
}
The JSFiddle Below:
Here is my JSFiddle
Add Class this carousel-caption on item-text
<div class="item-text carousel-caption">
Hello World
</div>
https://jsfiddle.net/lalji1051/3hyb82fg/1/
OK I got it solved basically although I probably need to tweak it a bit to get it perfect what I did was disable the overflow:hidden on the sp-carousel-frame and change it to visible. Then on the parent div col-md-12 I attached another class called overflow:
HTML
<div class="col-md-12 overflow">
<div class="sp-carousel-frame sp-carousel-frame-pos">
<div class="sp-carousel-inner">
<div class="sp-carousel-item" style="overflow: visible !important;">
<img src="/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Main-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
<div class="item-text">
Hello Hows it going like
</div>
</div>
<div class="sp-carousel-item"><img src="/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Left-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="sp-carousel-item"><img src="/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Right-Slider-Image.jpg"/>
</div>
</div>
</div><!-- End sp-carousel-frame -->
<hr />
</div><!-- Close Col-md-12 -->
CSS:
.sp-carousel-frame {
overflow: visible !important;
}
.overflow {
overflow: hidden !important;
padding: 0 !important;
}

Bootstrap spacing between columns in a row

I am struggling adding spacing (or margin) between columns using the grid system in bootstrap. My html and css is below. I could not get any of the solutions posted online to work. The goal is spacing between col-8 and col-4. Any suggestions? Thanks!
HTML:
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-8">
hello
</div>
<div class="col-md-4">
<div class="row" align="center">
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://cdn3.iconfinder.com/data/icons/free-social-icons/67/github_circle_black-128.png" class="icon-resize" alt="github">
</div>
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://cdn3.iconfinder.com/data/icons/free-social-icons/67/linkedin_circle_black-128.png" class="icon-resize" alt="linkedin">
</div>
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://cdn3.iconfinder.com/data/icons/free-social-icons/67/twitter_circle_black-128.png" class="icon-resize" alt="twitter">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS:
.container {
max-width: 960px;
height: 100%;
}
here is what you're looking for:
gridGutterWidth
It's usual to download the raw (.scss or .less) versions of bootstrap, so you can control the css output at build time. If you don't use any of them, you may find the http://getbootstrap.com/customize/ comfortable.
You could apply inline by
<div class="col-md-4" style="padding-left:1em">

Think you just misspelled center
But you may have better results doing it within the style of the div anyways
Try this, Assuming the width of your png is 200px
<div class="col-sm-2" style="width: 200px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;">
<img src="assets/img/coding-kids.png" alt="Coding Kids">

Background issue with div

I have 2 different partial views that I am calling in my main view like this:
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("Chart", "Teams")
</div>
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("SeriesWinsChart", "Teams")
</div>
<div class="next-game">
<h3 class="text-center">The Next Game Is:</h3>
</div>
<br />
<div class="text-center">
<h3 style="color:red;">#ViewBag.NextGame</h3>
</div>
Now my problem is this:
All I have done is put background-color: green in my CSS for the class .next-game (honestly just to see what it looked like.. green is not what I am going to use)... I have gone into Inspect Element on IE and I cannot find the problem as to why the background is so big. I just want the background to be around The Next Game Is:
CSS:
.next-game{
background-color: green;
}
How do I shrink the background? I have tried width: 50%; height: 10px; //etc just to see the different changes but can't figure this out
UPDATE:
I have changed the HTML to:
<div class="next-game">
<h3 class="text-center">The Next Game Is:</h3>
<div class="text-center">
<h3 style="color:red;">#ViewBag.NextGame</h3>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("Chart", "Teams")
</div>
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("SeriesWinsChart", "Teams")
</div>
This at least made the background render properly. So this has something to do with the partial views?
The most likely cause for this issue is that your twitter bootstrap columns have no wrapping row. You generally need all three (container, row, column) for it to render properly. What you're running into here is probably a clearfix issue. The columns are floated, which makes the next available non-floating element appear to "wrap" them. Below is a possible solution to the problem.
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("Chart", "Teams")
</div>
<div class="col-md-6">
#Html.Action("SeriesWinsChart", "Teams")
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="next-game">
<h3 class="text-center">The Next Game Is:</h3>
</div>
<br />
<div class="text-center">
<h3 style="color:red;">#ViewBag.NextGame</h3>
</div>
Other solutions include adding a .clearfix class to a wrapper for the columns or adding clear:both to .next-game.
You need
.next-game h3{
background-color: green;
}
(it's just for the header h3 inside the element with that class .next-game)

Cant resize images on boostrap columns

So I'm pretty new to HTML/CSS and I'm doing this lesson from CodeAcademy and I'm trying to replicate this: https://s3.amazonaws.com/codecademy-content/projects/junction/index.html
The problem is that I'm not being able to make those images in the middle look bigger, they're very small, and I have no idea how to resize them.
Here's my version: https://jsfiddle.net/eb3roj0j/1/
<!--supporting-->
<div class="supporting">
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://goo.gl/HuNcSi" class="img-responsive" alt="">
<h2>Read</h2>
<p>Discover new stories and follow your favorite writers.</p>
</div>
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://goo.gl/Vxo5z5" class="img-responsive" alt="">
<h2>Write</h2>
<p>Create stories about our world, or entirely new worlds.</p>
</div>
<div class="col-md-4">
<img src="https://goo.gl/93x9GD" class="img-responsive" alt="">
<h2>Talk</h2>
<p>Join the conversation by talking with your favorite readers and your fans.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
in your css you have:
.row img
{
position: relative;
float: left;
max-width: 35px;
max-height: 35px;
}
this is constraining your image size
