I'm using Bootstrap 3 and I have a line of buttons. One of them is a <a> button, or: <a class='btn btn-default' role='button'>Button here</a>; the rest are <button> elements with the same classes.
I was expecting to have them all correctly aligned and spaced, as seen in Bootstrap's examples, however, the result was this:
As you can see, the first button, the one specified as <a> doesn't have the right margin with the next button. What can be causing this?
Here's my HTML:
<a class="btn btn-default" role="button">
<i class="fa fa-download" aria-hidden="true"></i> Download Image
</a>
<button class="btn btn-default">
<i class="fa fa-pencil-square-o" aria-hidden="true"></i> Edit Title
</button>
<button class="btn btn-default">Export</button>
<button class="btn btn-danger">Delete</button>
The anchor tags and buttons are correctly spaced because they are inline-block- not sure how there is no spacing between the a and the button you got over there.
Try floating them and then you can remove the space between them if you want to- and set the required margin if needed.
They must be correctly aligned and spaced by default- see below snippet:
a.btn, button.btn {
margin: 0;
}
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.6.3/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<body>
<a class="btn btn-default" role="button">
<i class="fa fa-download" aria-hidden="true"></i> Download Image
</a>
<button class="btn btn-default">
<i class="fa fa-pencil-square-o" aria-hidden="true"></i> Edit Title
</button>
<button class="btn btn-default">Export</button>
<button class="btn btn-danger">Delete</button>
</body>
See what happens when we float them:
a.btn, button.btn {
margin: 0;
float: left;
}
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.6.3/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<body>
<a class="btn btn-default" role="button">
<i class="fa fa-download" aria-hidden="true"></i> Download Image
</a>
<button class="btn btn-default">
<i class="fa fa-pencil-square-o" aria-hidden="true"></i> Edit Title
</button>
<button class="btn btn-default">Export</button>
<button class="btn btn-danger">Delete</button>
</body>

I have a button group but the middle button is a link so it should b a tag (i can change its button and use js to navigate but I prefer not to )
here is the code
<link href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<div class="btn-group nospiner">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-warning yekan create-wallet"><i class="mdi mdi-arrow-down-bold"></i> down</button>
center
<button type="button" class="btn btn-warning yekan ">up <i class="mdi mdi-arrow-up-bold"></i> </button>
</div>
here is the result
as you can see the middle btn has a border and gradient, how can I change it so it would look like buttons? i've tried adding border:none to all .btn and button group it didn't work
Simply remove type=button from the a
<link href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<div class="btn-group nospiner" >
<button type="button" class="btn btn-warning yekan create-wallet"><i class="mdi mdi-arrow-down-bold"></i> down</button>
<a href="link.php" class="btn btn-warning yekan pjax" > center</a>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-warning yekan " >up <i class="mdi mdi-arrow-up-bold"></i> </button>
</div>
I'm struggling with a problem for several days now and I couldn't find a solution yet, even though I've tried myself with different approaches, searched google and the mighty stackoverlow for hours.
The set-up:
I've got a panel with two list-groups next to each other, where relations can be managed. On the left are the linked items, on the right all available items that are not linked yet (featuring a pagination and all). The js-logic is working flawless. Clicking on a question-mark does display details for the item. Clicking on a plus moves an item to the left list, clicking on an "x" moves it back to the right. Of course the icons are properly switched, too.
The problem:
The items are user-generated and the form is used both on big and small screens (used bootstrap for that reason).
Some of the items do have a rather long name, limiting the users to keep it short is not an option here. If the text is too long, it just breaks out of the layout.
What I tried so far:
Since the input-groups work with simulating table-elements, I've tried several approaches with table-layout:fixed;, but that doesn't seem to work if it's not really a table. Then I tried several approaches with containing different elements in div-containers and giving them percentual sizes.
It never worked.
Now I'm experimenting with cutting the text server-side, but that looks stupid if the screen is wide enough and the text is cut anyway.
Does someone smarter than me have a solution that makes overflow:hidden; and text-overflow:ellipis; work on those elements?

Edit after the answers:
Thank you both so much for the answer!
I'm feeling so stupid right now. Of course the answer had to be so simple and I was just searching in the wrong direction.
The working fiddle is
https://jsfiddle.net/sesn/y98pz4hj/1/
Here is your answer
button { white-space: normal !important; height: auto !important; }
It will work :
button {
white-space: normal !important;
height: auto !important;
}
I have added a a button and Styled it using Bootstrap but the icon(Font) of the button is not as per the styling.I am not able to figure out what is missing in the Markup..Here is the HTML..
<button class="btn-u btn-u-xs btn-brd btn-brd-hover" type="button" title="Add New" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#responsive" onclick="">
<i class="fa fa-plus"></i>
<span class="hidden-xs hidden-sm">Add New</span>
</button>
Please help me to resolve this .Thanks
Bootstrap doesn't include the fa fa icons. put this in your head and you're good to go
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.4.0/css/font-awesome.min.css">
I am trying to add a font awesome icon in front of my Delete & Settings link button but its not working. Can someone please tell me what is missing?
Html Code:
<div class="jumbotron">
<p>
<a class="btn btn-danger" href="#">
<i class="fa fa-trash-o fa-lg"></i> Delete
</a>
<a class="btn btn-default btn-sm" href="#">
<i class="fa fa-cog"></i> Settings
</a>
</p>
</div>
Added these css:
1) bootstrap.min.css
2) font-awesome.min.css
Also, please see the fiddle here.
This is a bug in 3.2.1 for site URLs, fixed in 4.0.3. Replace the link external link with http://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.3/css/font-awesome.min.css
(In HTML, it would be <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.3/css/font-awesome.min.css">)
Check this Fiddle
Try with this..
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<div class="jumbotron">
<p>
<a class="btn btn-danger" href="#">
<i class="fa fa-trash-o fa-lg"></i> Delete
</a>
<br>
<a class="btn btn-default btn-sm" href="#">
<i class="fa fa-cog"></i> Settings
</a>
</p>
</div>
Just use the following link
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/5.14.0/css/all.min.css" integrity="sha512-1PKOgIY59xJ8Co8+NE6FZ+LOAZKjy+KY8iq0G4B3CyeY6wYHN3yt9PW0XpSriVlkMXe40PTKnXrLnZ9+fkDaog==" crossorigin="anonymous" />
In my case I haven't added the fonts to the project. I found an error in developer console and added below fonts to the location where Font Awesome(font-awesome.min.css) is looking for.
I had same problem as yours and I followed the solution from Wobuffet but it was not working.
I added title ="" to the element and it fixed my issue:
<i class="fa fa-pencil" title="Edit"></i>
link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/5.14.0/css/all.min.css" integrity="sha512-1PKOgIY59xJ8Co8+NE6FZ+LOAZKjy+KY8iq0G4B3CyeY6wYHN3yt9PW0XpSriVlkMXe40PTKnXrLnZ9+fkDaog==" crossorigin="anonymous"
This link is really worked for me .
